"Beautiful. You're hired." (to work on mine) haha Jokes aside, I've been wanting to do something similar to my Spirit trap and this has definitely given me some inspiration. Fantastic work on the mods as well as the channel. Been enjoying everything since I subscribed. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate your supportive comments! It means a lot! Good luck with your mod! Reach out if you need any of my measurements etc. 😊
Awesome job! Can you share a link to that red led hat light that you installed over the existing one on the spirit trap? I'd like to add that mod to a few and its easier than opening them all up to replace the whole thing.
Yes very happy to: amzn.to/3SV2EaT you need to pry the read lamp cover off the lamp. I did it by putting the white part in a vice and gently prying the metal collar evenly all the way round so as not to damage it.
Thanks - it was a simple power on - sever shut the door - power off - springs pulled the door open. So I ended up using a simple switch in the end (having preset the servo position when it came on)
@@ExperienceExplorers I had to do it due to being compelled to use that battery door as my leverage to pull and the whole device turning off because I yanked out the battery. to each their own misery
Neat idea! I went a different route with the door opening. I was bored and reversed engineered the Walmart Rubies version's gear box they used. 3d print the case and actuator, along with some gears and the 5v motor and limit switches and re use the existing bomb bay door mechanism in the Spirit Trap and voila. Add a pedal and you have a remote opening trap. It just slides in as an assembly like the Rubie trap like it belongs there.
Too good! I’m going to have a crack at this, please could you share the dimensions of the piece of wood that holds the servo, did you glue it in place? Thanks.
@ExperienceExplorers ahh ok .. yeah my wife has a cricket machine and i was thinking if I can cut out a black construction paper to the same size it would work just fine. 😁👍 I just suck with dimensions and stuff like that.. lol 😆
@@ExperienceExplorersYeah but there is always some tweaks when you are creative.. Also like the paint with the pen, a few touches and it looked like worn-out metal.. How long have you been building stuff yourself??
Yeah the pen thing is a bit of a shortcut - but when you are in a hurry sharpies can really help if you add and smudge before it’s dry. I’ve been building for a long time - but only really started thinking about sharing my builds in the last few years - always been in to creating experiences so excited by the idea of sharing them here! 😊
Is there an example of the wiring anywhere that we can see as I’m wanting to do the same things and have a bunch of questions e.g. does the servo need the controller permanently or is it just for configuration, does the x2 AAs power the servo ok also or do we need extra power etc etc
Hi - thanks for your patience - been busy at Comicon - I don’t have a diagram - but yes you need 9-12v adaptor for the servo it won’t run from the AA onboard batteries or alternatively a project battery with 9-12v I used the servo tester here as part of the build as you need a controller for the server to operate - and then just powered up the whole thing with one switch. This was quick and dirty as I was building the prop for an experience. The alternative would be to use a servo controller with a switch amzn.to/4dSLaV6 I do plan to create some more detailed info on this process in the future on my website.
could've saved a ton of time by getting the Wal-Mart version of the trap that already has the servo/remote door opening set up. from there you just have to replace/extend the wiring.
Yeah - looked for these - but they were not available or selling on eBay for 150-200! - I also heard that the motorized doors were not very 'robust' so wasn't willing to pay that. Was also just fun to give myself the challenge :)
@@TrippingHawk Yeah just crazy! It will be the same with the Ghostbusters Popcorn buckets shaped like Slimer and ghost traps coming out for the movie - they will sell out in a day and be on ebay for 100's 🙄
Did you delete my lengthy (but legitimately trying to be helpful and in no way negative) comment or was it just killed by the RUclips algorithm? I spent a good 10 minutes writing that up and it's vanished 😅
Ok so searched my mail - it was actually another comment that came in and then disappeared - not yours - no idea where it is even checked held for review and nothing there - not even in my mail. Very happy for any feedback and comments so please if you have time post again! Everyone is welcome here!
I went to Cortland too! Love what you've got going on brother!
Yay! And thanks so much! Appreciate it!
Amazing work on that. Looking forward to seeing the video of the experience as well
Thanks! It was a lot of fun! Really excited to share the experience vid! Still a bit of editing to do but it’s coming!
So this was fun! How did I do? Have you ever tried to mod a toy before?
@@ExperienceExplorers I modded the afterlife proton blaster M.O.D toy
Impressive -again! I would never think to take it apart! 😅
Thanks, taking stuff apart is always a bit scary at first - especially because you don’t know if it will go back together again!
Love this! It looks great!
Thanks! I was really happy with how it turned out!

Excellent job on the prop creation. When are they going to make you head of the art department for the next film? 🙂
Good question! LOL - and thanks!
They need him, right ?
this is so cool!

Awesome build. How did you end up controlling the servo board remotely?
Thanks - it was a simple power on - sever shut the door - power off - springs pulled the door open. So I ended up using a simple switch in the end (having preset the servo position when it came on)

Thanks so much! I'll have to go back to my cad files - I'll try and get these measurements back here in chat tomorrow!
Hi, just wondering if you’ve had chance to check your Cad files yet? Thanks again.
Awesome!!!
Thanks! It was fun! Thanks for the comment! 👻🚫
What type of servo motor did you use? I need to learn how to do this
Hi I got it from Amazon. It’s a Tiankongrc MG995. I need to add a full list of parts to the video!
@@ExperienceExplorers amazing work! I’m just starting to get into modding etc and I’ve not got a clue what I’m doing. I’m good at breaking things….
That’s the first skill you need - being good a breaking stuff lol! Then you work it out by putting it back together 😊
I must ask do you still have the dimensions for the indicator 3 led bar? that little tiny thing you lazar cut? i need one. do you have a file for it?
I’ll have to look - the machine I use for laser work - unfortunately died in me so need to recover the files.
