I really like the builds you’ve posted the last two weeks, Derek. I love how you’re able to take something like a popcorn bucket and turn it into a movie quality prop. You’re an amazing artist!
It's amazing what a good paint job & a bit of weathering can do to a prop. Great tip using the hairspray; I'll have to give that one a try for sure. There was a person cosplaying as Slimer at the event I went to yesterday; I would have loved to have one of these to "chase" him around with. (It was a really good costume, too!)
I'm too scared to take mine out of the bag. I'm 53, married with grown kids and I know I sound pretty losery and pathetic! LOL This is a really nice piece to be a movie popcorn bucket! Nice work, as always!
Fantastic work again. You still blow my mind with the way you do things. Please keep them coming because I enjoy watching your channel. Take care and blessings to you from England.
@@VanOaksProps i’m usually pretty good with my hands and I love doing woodwork and 3-D printing, but I would love to start doing dioramas. I’ve been watching a few on RUclips which I think I can make all the stuff it’s just getting it on the scale would be my problem. Take care and have a brilliant day.
Mine eventually came this morning after days of waiting for it to arrive from Chicago United States due to me living in the United Kingdom where it was difficult to obtain them due the items exclusively to amc and regal cinemas so only way I could get them from was on eBay so either way I am happy to get one. I watched videos where hardcore fans said that amc variant is way better due to having an attachment too it moreover I am happy with the one that I got. Lastly my review for it will be going up on my main channel this weekend after recording it.
I certainly don’t need a ghostbuster trap but you’re so intriguing to watch that I feel like now I do need a ghostbuster trap. Long way to say, thank you. 😊
Want to thank you for this. My mod is complete! Gotta find you to share it! lol Just waiting on some weathered decals to come in to seal the deal. Also, I used toothpaste, didn’t have latex. I’ve never been so tired of taking it off. Was my first time using that method 😂
Is there a way to add a fine gritty texture to smooth plastic for a prop that is going to be handled frequently without having the texture rub off from handling?
The reference photos I used from a recent prop store auction didn’t have the red paint. So I decided to follow that rather than the standard paint job.
Another great job. I've been thinking of doing Ghostbusters for this coming Halloween. Any more cool how to videos for Ghostbusters would be great. Thanks again for your videos.
I got my Ghost Trap popcorn bucket from AMC. It's a bit different from yours, as it comes with a transparent purple bucket that fits inside the open trap doors, doesn't have the LED bar on the front, and has only 3 "warning" decals. The only LEDs are inside the trap doors to light the purple bucket from underneath.
There’s a small tab that the springs rest against in order for the doors to pop open. They’ll look wrong, but once the bridge piece is reattached they’ll be held in place.
The part that holds the doors in place? There were small screws that held the cover in place. Just in case, I should mention this only works on the Regal trap and not any of the other versions that were available at different theaters.
@@markmendel9883 there’s slotted tabs on the sides and you just need to push it in while pulling the panel away from the trap. I used a small thin screwdriver to do it.
Feels like I was lied to. Not as easy as he’s making it look. I just tried this on mine and stickers wouldn’t come off, even with heat. The black knobs didn’t snip off flush, and the screws were impossible to get out. Ruined my trap trying. A little honesty goes a long way.
No lies here. It’s quite possible that the person who assembled mine cut corners and wasn’t as generous with their glue application. As for the decals, mine peeled up with a warm hair dryer. Do you have the Regal trap or the AMC?
Wow, sort of an unfair comment don’t you think? I have never known Van Oaks to intentionally lead anyone wrong. I don’t believe for one second he was misleading. Your prop could have been assembled differently than his.
Nice upgrade. A Pepper’s Ghost addition to it would be cool.
Brilliant my friend. Love the transformation and that hairspray tip is outstanding!!
Looks great! That hair spray technique is really clever. I'll have to try it on my next build!

Thanks so much!
Add that to your haunt. Leave it opened up and on its side as though a Ghostbuster dropped it and ran away.
Excellent work bro!! Worthy of busty any Class V Ectoplasmic Manifestations!! LOVE IT!!!
That is excellent!!! Beautiful work, and I very much wanna get one for myself and mod it now! (I vividly remember my 80s one!) 😆

This turned out so good! I've never used that hairspray technique before and I love it! I have to try it on something.
I really enjoy your builds, you're able to make just about anything pop! 10/10
Glad you like them!

I was really captivated as you took it apart. Looks like I have a new interest.
Oh yeah, the project turned out great as well.
🤣 thanks for watching!
So good looks great!
I keep being amazed at how amazing your builds and transformations are. Keep up the wonderful work.
Thanks, Shawn!

Fantastic work 👏thank you so much for sharing
My pleasure 😊
Nice!! I hope you do more Ghostbusters projects so we can see more of that logo and the slime transitions
A great upgrade to the static item.
Thank you! I think so too
Awesomeness! Cheers to anotha one!🥳🎉🎉🎉✊️✊️✊️

Thanks 👍

THIS IS AWESOME!!! I’m starting now!!
Great build! What do you do with the purple popcorn bucket
The regal trap doesn’t come with one. That’s the AMC bucket.
That’s so cool. Are you going to do a containment unit now?😊
Don't threaten me with a good time...
Thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to take this thing apart but apparently all the screw were glued and hidden. 😑
❤😊 Good Work
Thanks 😄
Is there a way to add a fine gritty texture to smooth plastic for a prop that is going to be handled frequently without having the texture rub off from handling?
Sure. I like to use spray adhesive before applying paint. That way the fine texture is trapped between the paint and the prop.
Looks great but you forgot the red on the side two pieces
The reference photos I used from a recent prop store auction didn’t have the red paint. So I decided to follow that rather than the standard paint job.

Each one has its good & not as good features. The upside is that you can still use the same methods to give it a little upgrade.
When you put the doors back on, what orientation/position were the springs in to ensure proper operation? I didn’t pay close enough attention 😂
There’s a small tab that the springs rest against in order for the doors to pop open. They’ll look wrong, but once the bridge piece is reattached they’ll be held in place.
Omg now i want to make a ghostbusters escape room. However, I'm in Australia so cant order as only ship within USA 😢
That would be awesome.
What paint would you suggest if I don't have an airbrush?
You could use spray paints
@@VanOaksProps Ok, thank you!
How the hell do you pop the tension tab thing? I've been trying to DAYS, the thing won't budge

Next step is to add the foot pedal actuator. Cheers.
OK wait... Tell me again where the basic trap came from and where to find it, lolol??
Regal cinemas. If you can’t find them in the wild I included a link in the video description to order them directly.

$25???? AMC changed me $40! Looks great though!
These are the Regal Cinemas version, which are different than the AMC version.
