This dialogue is seriously written well. The raw, deep, hard hitting philosophical questions. THIS is Assassin's Creed.
Desmond was THIS close to being the ultimate Assassin. Having lived through his ancestors' lives, he had their combined wisdom and experience. Yet he's different from all of them because he knows his ancestor's flaws as well, and avoids falling to those traits. He may not know all the answers, but he's willing to find them. The way he speaks, it's the voice of someone who's at peace with himself. From being a confused, impatient runaway/prisoner to this amazing, selfless and wise person, Desmond came a long way. This was pure philosophical gold, just like the first AC. He would've been a great Mentor to the Assassins.
People were all like "Hey, is Desmon coming back?" and my response was "please do..."....whether that'll ever be, I cannot say
Well she will be the ultimate assassin soon because it's rumored he's going to be brought back to life in assassin's Creed infinite
Would’ve beeen a great build up to a modern day game
If they could find Desmond’s body, connect it to the Gray, while holding the Staff of Eden…..who knows?
@@bradybosshardt3996 if she can be Brought back to life then Desmond can be Brough back to life
I miss Desmond, seriously most people might not have liked him or the modern day segments but I always enjoyed that stuff. The fact that for the longest time he was the series main character really helped as well.
yeah, actually that modern stuff was the thing that made me wait for the next game. now it's pointless
Desmond was never the problem it was the lack of focus on the modern day storyline that made his character suffer. The modern storyline should've revolved around Desmond utilizing the skills he learns from Altair and Ezio to combat the modern Templars, but instead he was essentially a MacGuffin. For example the first game ended should've ended with Desmond using skills inherited from Altair to escape Abstergo and the second game should've featured Desmond actively combating Templars (i.e. Desmond utilizes several hideouts throughout the game which are compromised and the player needs to use Ezio's skills to combat the Templars).
I think most fans did like him and if any so-called "fan" doesnt like the modern day premise of visiting the past while uncovering the works of the Nephilum then they are not real fans but just bandwagoners that just want a game with swords and stuff bruh. Unfortunately Ubisoft started listening to these morons.
I didn't at first. Then I got a little older and realized it was the most interesting stuff
@@rickyleahey9286 Please don't be a gatekeeper. You can be a fan of the games but not the modern day stuff. People who claim others aren't "real fans" because they don't like something as much as you are ultimate cringe.
Hearing what Desmond said about ezio just makes you think how ezio must have felt during his assassin days
Ya the man was close to giving up. Looking for answers, he didn’t even know he was gonna get. Following a purpose he was unsure of.
I love the new context it gives to Ezio during the last sequences in Revelations. He already wanted to leave the Brotherhood after Capadocia, so when he returned and found Yusuf killed and Sofia captured he didn't act as a mentor but as a hurt man who just wishes to set an end to all of it.
@@basslightyeah yeah. I believed that Ezio is the best character ever - and I still believe that - but this video made me feel way closer to Ezio Auditore.
I love the fact that Desmond sees through the hypocrisy of the Brotherhood, lived through it even, and sees the logic in the Templar's ideology and the truth of it, and still chose to become an Assassin. Because living through the lives of Altair, Ezio, and Connor, he knew and most importantly, he *understood* that he wasn't fighting for the Brotherhood, or even the Creed. He was fighting for what was right.
Imagine if he had lived Shay's life.
It’s interesting to think Desmond had a glimpse into Edward’s memories, wondered how much he saw?
Yeah.
I like to imagine the dream he speaks of here is Edward watching the ship his daughter is on roll into shore at great inagua, the pirates he mentions being Edwards visions of lost friends.
I think its a good sentiment to think that Desmonds first glimpse into Edwards life was the moment Edward found peace.
It’s interesting to think how having access to the experience of your ancestors would make you more wiser. Must be overwhelming though, even drive you mad, your brain exposed to so much new info it could leave you mentally damaged for life, even brain dead.
I miss Desmond man hearing his audio files really hit me
Yeah, for us old timers who been with the games since the second or the first game it’s quite a fresh air to finally hear more of Desmond even if he is only in a audio log.
@@arjusarauis9901 yeah
@@arjusarauis9901 Play the game yourself and you may be quite satisfied further things in the game. I played through it yesterday and I was very much satisfied, even when I got all the extra content in Origins and Odyssey. Finally it all makes sense in the ending here.
@@ulrichnubias2193 Indeed. And their codex pages about the Assassins' philosophies are also very interesting. They're complicated and full of ironies. AC Valhalla really did old timers a service.
@@doryaman I honestly was on fence with this game if I should get it or not but your comment helped , I had lost hope in the new games. The old ones ment so much especially brotherhood.
Idk but him talking about ezio brings back memories
Lol it does. Desmond and Ezio need to make a hood comeback. They were the heart that gave these games life. Now we addicted
Damn i miss ezio
Lol the irony in a game based on memories
I think Desmond was referring to what happend in AC2 where he did some parkour training and then you see "ghost"/echos from the bleeding effect.
This whole franchise brings back memories
THIS is the kind of dialogue that I missed about the series.
Now that he mentionsbit, Desmond didn't really have a choice. It got me thinking about his ancestors. I think out of all of Desmond's ancestors, Edward Kenway's probably the only one that freely chose to join. Sure he got mixed into it by accident, but he didn't have any assassin lineage not did he join out of revenge. He got to see both sides and made his choice. The rest were either born and raised into it or learned and joined with the initial mindset of revenge. Well, at least Desmond did feel like he had a choice at the end. He didn't choose to be in the sidelines after escaping Abstergo. He wanted to have an active role in it
Beautiful
I was at the beach with some sailor maybe pirates ?... i don't know
Edward: listen here kid
Lol
@@lordchrono3283 no it couldn’t have been Layla. Layla never mentioned getting attacked by a sage before
@@lordchrono3283 bruh dude, litteraly the recording on this video stated that desmond have slightly saw it not fully
@@lordchrono3283 also i know it was not desmond who saw edward memory because in the black flag it already show us that we're another one of initiates who work on exploring edward's memory...
@@victoriakaren2324 In Black Flag you're not an Initiate, but an Abstergo employee. The same applies to Rogue. Unity, however, does have you playing the role of an Initiate.
I'm going ahead and saying it: I LOVE how close Shaun and Desmond became before his demise. When in Syndicate Shaun talks about how Desmond was his best friend and responsible for Shaun wanting to do field work, you believe it.
Don’t forget when Shaun saw “Desmond” the dog he broke down locked himself in another room downing what little booze was left, it really fucked him up… partly because he felt sorta guilty for being an ass to a guy who literally had no choice but to be a pawn in a “divine” plan was controlled against his will to kill his crush, forced into a coma, and had to choose between being a martyr for a second coming of a civil war or give his own life to save everyone (templars included… ungrateful bastards) unleash an evil space witch unto the world and having his corpse “stripped for parts” to fuel animus machines….
@@user-jf4lt4uk7u Did Shaun really get wasted? I Do NOT remember that part
Desmond Miles?
Now that's a name i haven't heard in a long time...
I like that they included that bit about Ezio after Cappadocia. That loss of faith, the guilt. Like he couldn't stay true to his ideals. I feel like that has to be about the fact that he indirectly killed a ton of people after he set off those explosives in the city. They never touched upon his thoughts or feelings about the event in Revelations. I appreciate that ideal. I love that we got new insight into his character, after all these years.
I'm glad they addressed that too. Even though Ezio was a somewhat darker character in Revelations that moment always felt somewhat extreme but it was stranger how the game treated it like nothing (I remember thinking how strange that was while playing that part), so hearing Desmond reveal Ezio's inner thoughts and confirm it was Ezio basically crossing a line then regretting it feels like it also tied up a loose end from Revelations. It also gives further depth to his choice to retire and marry Sofia.
@@jazz265 I felt the same way myself. Ezio definitely was more brutal in combat as he aged, but the Cappadocia incident was on a whole other level. So many innocents died unnecessarily. Like you said, it feels like a loose end tied up. It just gave Ezio more humanity. He wasn't perfect, and he knew it.
_It was Ezio... He was older, around the time he left Cappadocia... He was standing on the deck of a ship. Alone. And through him, I could feel an intense... Regret. Or guilt. And it felt to me like he had a... a loss of faith. In himself, in the creed. Like he couldn't keep it up. Like he couldn't stay true to his ideals. And as I watched him, I thought..._
_"Is this the moment he decided he was done being an Assassin?"_
Man... After Brotherhood and especially after Revelations, Ezio had spent his entire life searching for answers only to find out that those answers will never be found in his lifetime...
The only left for him to do was to pass on the torch, and entrust it to Desmond.
EDIT: *Literally, as Desmond is still searching for that answer, as The Reader. Now alongside Layla.*
Writer's Note:
"I just made the connection as I was writing this comment, Ezio could not find the answer to what he wanted in his time, and so he entrusted them to Desmond, who to this day is still searching for them in the massive stream of timelines within The Grey as "The Reader"."
The way desmond talks about the creed it makes me think we could be near a true end to this series
Aw i am not ready yet
I ... hope anyone (a rat for example) get hands on the stuff and change the whole thing
i hope not i still want to see desmond whether a playable character or not
I've got a feeling that future games may actually present the player with more of a choice - Templar or Assassin - to fit their playstyle and morality. There may even be a spin-off series which is focused entirely on the Templars if that is not the case.
Based on the alternate timeline thing it looks like we'll be playing as Desmond again
With 3 being only other game besides Valhalla of the series( I’ve kept up with series just never played) I got emotional hearing Desmond again and meeting Connor’s people and I’m so happy I choose this game with so many references to 3 and the ones before since I played a little of one but had to give back to friend after never figuring out the first modern time part.
Wow having just beat Assassins Creed III Shaun seems so much nicer now
hearing how ezio felt made me miss the whole ezio anthology..... especially remembering how he was in embers made this even sadder
I've always wondered if Desmond saw Ezio's death since his daughter (Desmond's ancestor) was there when he died.
Ubisoft: changes face models for known characters each game*
Also Ubisoft: why wont people like our characters anymore?
Its nice to have the old gang almost back together i missed Shaun and Rebecca
Desmond please come back
11:36 i think this confirms that King Alfred is the first Grand Master of the Templars. AC Unity has an Enigma Riddle that leads to the First Grand Master's tomb and its linked to the post-game mission where you find King Alfred. Not a coincidence that future ACV DLC is set in Paris also. In King Alfred's wiki however, it says King Alfred was trying to destroy The Order (aka the Templars) from within, but the Vikings sabotaged his plans, which i find really interesting, because it would mean Eivor, Hytham and the gang ultimately didnt do much in England.
Nono the order was destroyed, as Alfred wanted. And using similar ideals of control he created the Templar Order which uses the belief of God as its foundation. Eventually the order went back to its roots when it became abstergo and uses science and research as uts foundation.
Nice. This made me feel... very chill and calm and I have got a lot of my memories of playing the Assassin's Creed games... I love Assassin's Creed... nice 'Covid' reference as well.
0:01 Man, the facial movements and expressions are just plain and dead.
I'm not crying
You're crying!
Me neither, my eyes are just pissing.
13:13 "I don't have Covid, no" ....Brah
@Negan that's why it's feel real
either i missed that or they removed that part some time in the last week
Yeah the Assassin's Creed world has always been parallel to ours (what I mean by that is not really _parallel_ but... its been true to our world) but they do it in their on way, they got their own things going as well. I feel really chill and calm right now.
I do enjoy how in the latest games, the Assassins are no longer portrayed as the ultimate good guys - just like how there are flaws with the Templar's ideals, so too are there flaws with the Creed. Ever since AC 3, I started hypothesizing that at some point in history, the Assassins and Templars were actually one unified faction, with a unified philosophy, which ultimately split into two opposing extremes. This is why both factions have endured over all of history - they have a sort of Yin and Yang relationship. One cannot exist with out the other.
The Assassin's were never the ultimate good guys. Even in AC1 Desmond shows a lot of the same sentiments on the Assassin's here in it as well.

7:17 black flag easter egg lol
Yeah but I don't know how that would make you laugh out out.
@@Stealthful_ Are you always this annoying ?
Desmond has to be the most powerful Piece of Eden. A being of multiple Isu bloodlines able to see through time and correct the present. He has been the link to the past and present the whole time. He is another tool used by the Isu and coveted by Assassins and Templars.
As someone who belongs to an organization (a religious one) with similar concepts, I definitely relate to Desmond on this. I feel that it is unjust for a person to question something- only to then be looked down on for asking the question if it would help me get a better understanding of that faith.
I believe that we as individuals, especially ones who are born into different religions- should have the RIGHT to question WITHOUT being looked down on. For how else are we supposed to know whether something is or isn't for us?
Desmond Miles didn't actually die in Assassin's Creed 3, he was In a coma which could mean he's still alive
He isn't his body was torn to parts by abstergo and they used his memories to make games
But unity hinted that he might be in the animus Island from revelations
Maybe he could try to be revived like how juno was in the lead up through the games to the comics
Do youse think they will reboot Assassin's Creed? Think about it, what happens 200 years after Eivor? Altaïr, so does that mean we could get another game? Hmm
@@Matthew-on-the-Moon I think you mean a Remake of Assassin's Creed 1....
I doubt they'll reboot the franchise.
With the hole cloning thing the Templar’s were doing I thought it would’ve been possible to assemble a body and upload all the data and memories to him therefore bringing him back to the moment of his death and keeping the memories of his ancestors and un-seen ones kept safe
Desmond miles is Nolan north aka dr edward richtofen
Wow
It's like NN took both the blue and red pill
Red: You're an assassin
Blue: You're a crazed nazi scientist
He's also nathan drake in a distant universe.....
Miss you Desmond.
Listening to the audio files with this almost minecraft like background music is kind of surreal
Man this was so emotional wen i heard it in the game, ngl a few a tears came out.
This is stupid that the world is apparently supposed to end a second time. It’s like everything that has happened in desmond’s time was all for nothing, overturned.
It's exaplained why all this happened. It makes sense.
Desmond didn't save the world, he only delayed the consequences and when times get tough that is the only thing one can do. Desmond might be gone but that doesn't mean that the assassin's are without purpose. He was just a piece in the grand scheme of things. And I miss him a lot
@@debarpandutta6722 he was used by Juno who had been eliminated by another being of greater power who had suddenly appeared. This is what bad story telling is called, something that ac ended up with after a while ago unfortunately.
I'm not crying it's just dust in my eye
Everybody sounds.. So old. From Rebecca to even Desmond
the world about to end for the second time in eight years ? why is it so accurate
Can I just say as much of a dick Shaun was when desmond was alive I value the fact that he truely liked desmond and called him a friend I think he may even have loved desmond as a brother I love that he respects desmond wholeheartedly even though he didnt in the past and always thought desmond was a waste of time even rebecca's respects him and maybe even loved him like a brother but Shaun hated him and end the end considered him to be a good friend even if it was to late
Ezio in Cappadocia, after he likely killed all those innocents with smoke?
What?! When did that happen?
@@popothecat9760 in ac revelation when when he caused that fire in that cave city. while they never showed that in the game. if something like that happened irl there is a very good chance people would die of smoke inhalation during the escape.
The pause music adds so much to it. Kinda somber and bittersweet.
Layla killed her friend for the staff
Desmond killed Lucy for the Apple
I knew that voice in the beginning was Rebecca
I like how layla has like alexios and kassandra poses when when there in a converstation since shes been them
Desmond speaking straight fax Oh man I miss him
Im crying hearing desmonds voice, I haven't played any ac games after leaving the series in ac3
You can definitely hear that time is starting to take a toll on their voices. Desmond and Rebecca sound a bit different, mostly Rebecca.
desmond shouldn't sound any different than he did 8 years ago. but i guess it can't be helped. i'm more interesting in SPOILERS
hearing him live and not over a recording. people over recordings always sound different.
He understood the philosophy of Altair and they killed him off.
we need desmond back
The new Assassin's Creed might not be as good as AC1-AC Revelations, but it sure had some really good moments
I hope they retcon Desmond's story from his 2012 choice.
Pirates?, well ubisoft love to put small details
it's not hidden for anybody that's used to accessing the computer every time one is available in an assassins creed game. maybe the fact that you have to press the map button to access it but then everything is "hidden"
Man I really miss Desmond
That first audio was deep...
It's baffling how Ubisoft can write scenes like that first conversation and yet still be so self-unaware. Valhalla had good things about it, but it totally boiled down to following those Rules For A Good Game without considering if those rules still work for them. They copy the Witcher 3 in every way imaginable, in a universe that should not be the Witcher- the main character should be an outsider hero and a stealthy assassin, not a war hero on one side of a political conflict, nor a mercenary who can choose to be an asshole or a kind person like Geralt's choices allow him to be. They stuff the open world with collectibles and activities bc that's what Open World Games are supposed to be, but those stuffings don't contribute anything, nor are they satisfying. They put all this effort in making the setting historically accurate, but when it comes to plot and combat, anachronisms and dumb shit are everywhere- two-handed swords before there were any, using two-handed weapons in both hands, those infamous weird roided out animations that are gorey for the sake of gore, bosses that have a ton of HP that you spend an hour dodging attacks and chipping away rather than a compelling boss fight- they fixed nothing about their games. They dug their heels in to the video game tropes that make money and threw the Assassin's name on the cover to cash in on nostalgia.
And then of course, there's the fact that exploring the philosophical implications of ideas on the first conversation (though not that one specifically, bc the other games have done it) would make for an interesting story, but instead we have... Sigurd.
There is an audio fie with otso berg in the trash. did anyone know if we can hear it?
What happen assassins creed had a alternate universe and they have another miles just like jojo bizzare adventure in part 7
Does anyone know what soundtrack plays behind Desmond's audio files?
They should’ve never have killed off Desmond
I have a theory: Elijah or this voice make something to bring desmond ancestors back to life?
Is it possible that Desmond is related to Loki and that instead of Ibn resurrecting his child, he is replaced by Desmond, creating the ultimate assassin? It sounds completely left field, I know.
Back when Desmond and Shaun used to sit together and spark up a few joints lol
The new face models are so painful to look at.
I really want ubisoft to go back to old style AC. Layla hassan's trilogy is great but we have enough of AC rpg.
Hope Desmond Evil clone
I don't get how this was hidden. I found it as soon as I looked on the laptop 🤦
Lmao all I'm hearing is Nathan Drake talking about Ezio
The Assassin creed story died With desmonds sacrifice, Last two games are butt and Ubi doesn’t listen to fans.
damn, hearing this made me think of how hard they fucked this franchise.. a reboot would be key.
Good I never thought I would be hit by nostalgia train God damnit 😭😭😭
11:58 covid should’ve been the new catastrophe
Maybe in the next game or Valhalla DLC, I think? 🤔
i wish my old ps3 account didn't get swept under the rug, so i could play more ac2

We want Desmond
Desmond miles is better than layala
Why do you compare them? They're different protagonists, let them be different
Desmond is by far my most loved and favorite character in the entire AC franchise. And no, I actually hate Ezio xd
Desmond resurrection when?
who is the mad one?
Havi/Odin, Eivor.
Male Eivor aka Odin
Basim is Loki beware of him!.
Who is William miles?
Dedmond's father
The Assassin's Mentor.
Desmond Miles father and the mentor to the Assassin. He become the mentor due to the Old grand master death at the hand of Master Templar Daniel Cross, who was unknown to the Assassin - a sleeper agent
This doesn’t sound like Desmond’s voice actor.
That's Nolan north, Nathan drake, I know his voice all. Too well, it's him alright
Nolan North is THE Desmond miles, he’s the only Desmond miles we know, and I notice his voice, he has the iconic voice that can be recognised in an instant
it does clean your ears
hey look at Shaun... he is kinda... hhhm
I think Desmond is gonna come back. maybe with the staff of Hermès?
Just come here to say I have the game never beat it bye
