My Mum grew up on this show, so glad that I get to experience this gritty yet culturally grounded reboot
Is this based on another show?
@@FrozenLavaDragonProd not that I'm aware of, in America we had a similar show called Commander Clubhouse, and it had the Commander Cyclone, it was super weird
For those asking, the “vetoed” decks were the ones you’d very likely expect (Atraxa, Edgar, Meren, etc). There really weren’t *that* many, to be honest.
Will the most recent baldur's gate Decks be included in the wheel?
Just seeing the three examples, it makes complete sense to see those get vetoed from the wheel
Those decks specifically while tuned to play fair with the other decks, were still just really powerful to play.
To a point that I think in French Commander communities, Edgar Markov (vampire lord, token spammer) banned him for unfair interaction.
How’s bout a game where the four vetoed decks are played?
@@grennysohail To be fair, French Commander is a 1 v 1 format, and Edgar can quickly overpower if he only has one opponent to worry about.
must bring out the vetoed decks for a game one day
The wheel provided perfect color balance: two of each color.
Two of each color AND no two players shared more than one color.
perfectly balanced, as all things should be
For some reason when Kathleen said Graham tried to keep the wheel color balanced, I was thinking in terms of graphic design. 🤦
Wheel of Precons turn, turn, turn!! Teach us the lesson that we must learn!!
Lesson 17 - Double Red is a valid precon color.
@@PyrenKir more red per red means more win #rdw
Lesson 219: Aggro is always a valid strategy.
The primly mischievous expression on Cam's face as he says or hears something mildly risqué is priceless.
Sometimes resolving Lim Dul’s vault just results in a long bitter realization you’re destined to lose.
I think wheel of precons is gonna be a favorite part of EDSC for me going forward. I really like the vibe of the precon power level as well as the fun of the players having no idea what their deck will be until just before the game. Thanks so much for the fun and entertaining video LRRfolks
Reminds me of how I first got introduced to MTG through Day9 & SpellSlingers
"Ethically sourced sustainable beatdown" - what a line, Nelson!
I think I'm going to start brewing a deck around that!
Ben doing going full boomer then doing a real life smash cut back to reality is distilled serotonin.
"why arent we playing 7up right now" followed by three simultaneous flops absolutely detroyed me
I did not expect the wheel of precons to be that large, but I am not complaining in the slightest
EDSC is just... really good. Ya'll are excellent at what you do.
I fist pumped so hard when Cam made the cascade Lilliana joke. It’s one of my favorite deep cut LLRisms
What's it a reference to?
It’s an old anecdote from Cam, overhearing a player at YJ angrily telling a powerful magic story from Modern, about how his opponent cast Bloodbraid Elf and cascaded into Liliana of the Veil. Back in a time when Jund was very prominent in the meta.
For future reference, Cam and Ben’s commanders would have remained in the graveyard during the resolution of Danse Macabre, making them legal choices to bring back to Kathleen’s battlefield. Only once the current spell finishes resolving do you choose to move your commander to the command zone. Just wanted to say something because I know it’s a confusing interaction for a lot of people! Love the EDSC and the wheel of precons!
Also worth noting that had Kathleen chosen a commander to return to the battlefield, the commander's controller would be allowed to return it to the command zone still
Actually, no! You can choose to send your commander to the command zone when it changes zones going anywhere other than the battlefield. And since the game doesn’t remember that it’s the same entity that was sent to the graveyard, you can absolutely steal someone’s commander with cards like danse macabre and necromantic selection, with no opportunity for them to put it in the command zone if they let it die.
@@mattperkinson9604 oh true I forgot you can't do that if it's going to the battlefield
Yeah, it rarely comes up
Cutting to the overhead as soon as Nelson asked why they weren't playing heads up seven up absolutely made my day! XD
I am so happy there's content creation around precons!
I like to think Ben went out the same way Adam did when he smashed into that door 12 times in the adventure book
The perfect colour balance is really satisfying
Just because Nelson mentioned “Creature or player” here - There’s actually only *a single* card that says “creature or player” for damage now - Firesong and Sunspeaker, from the set when they changed the rule. I’m relatively certain F&S was an oversight too.
I love this, random decks that show people playing if for the first time is a great idea. Also so many of these seem like really well made decks with great power levels. Thanks for making this show you guys!
This is actually nice to watch. A game where you don't see everything go nuts by turn four. Nothing which ensures infinite combos and such.
End results aside, you can really see how Wizards got better at making precons as the years went by. Nelson's and Kathleen's decks had lots of synergy throughout the 99 and with their commander. Cam's deck was just Naya BIG with a Naya counter commander. And Ben's was half a Esper lifegain & half a Esper artifact deck just jammed together.
Still super fun to watch though!
And yet, Cam won and Ben came second. :p
That look between Ben and Cam when Nelson played Scytheclaw was hilarious
and then it never connected with anyone.
Cameron was so chipper! And bloodthirsty! That was a fun game!
the self annihilation via Lim Dul's Vault had me dying laughing!
I'm so glad this international treasure of a show gets to continue for a new generation
Poor Ben, playing the worst deck at the table AND getting assaulted by everyone at the table 😂
I love the wheel, the wheel is going to put in so much work for this series and it's amazing.
Also amazing is how half the pod got 2 decks from the same wave of product (Oloro and Marath).
Also also amazing to see how precons have evolved over the years, even from just looking at Ezuri to Prosper
I have both those precons (which have since been reassembled to some degree) and… yeah. I completely forgot about Scytheclaw being a card Ezuri had. It’s a fine card, but its effect doesn’t synergize with counters at all. Got cut immediately.
Meanwhile, Prosper can win games at your LGS right out of the box. The cards play together well. Cascade, rebound, suspend, and plenty of other oddball ways to cast cards out of exile. Love him.
I was literally just re-watching the first episode and thinking "hmm, they said monthly, so that should be coming up soon!" This episode was fantastic! Can't wait til next month!
>attempts to search a precon for answers
>dies
I like how the decks came with naturally balanced color representation
Glad this is the kind of commander content you want to make, because this is the kind of commander content I love!
Edit: the wheel of precons is a very fun idea, I love it!
I love this series so much. In fact, wasn’t planning on buying any cards for a while, but will just so I can use the link to Card Kingdom so this series can likely continue.
Oh hype I guess I found my magic content to listen to at work for today
This is exactly the kind of Commander content I want to see!
34:35 To be fair to Ben, Sweden was a neutral country during WW2 but profitted similarly to Switzerland by trading with the axis.
And I need to correct Cameron unfortunately, the Swedes were more for expansion, especially regarding the 30 years war compared to Switzerland, which provided the continent with loads of Mercenaries.
Source: am Swiss, work with Swedes, bit of a history nerd.
Also, let's not forget that swedes are, by nature, dumb-dumbs.
Cam you "the literal nut" will make me smile for years to come.
I swear, everything loading ready run makes gives e so much joy every time🤗
the way that Ben basically killed himself with that Limdul's vault play.
I love this. I am engaging. HEAR THAT ALGORITHM? IM ENGAGING!
Ethically-sourced, sustainable beatdown sounds like a prime candidate for a button
I was wondering how long it would take for Ben to miss the Oloro command zone trigger (as I often do). The answer - immediately
"Cameron will remember this." - Jun 29 2018.
25:30 As a Pole I can agree that this description is pretty accurate
Elder Dragon Social Club has been so wonderful. Keep up the amazing content.
Everyone is so fantastic but I am always so happy to see Ben hes so bubbly it just makes my day to see him
Precons are so fun. Magic with back and forth is so much more interesting.
Your color parity worked out perfectly. 2 players on the able are in white. And two in blue. And two in black. Two in Red and two in green
Really enjoyed this! Engaging with the algorithm to ensure more is made
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who asked, but I'm so happy to see the little pop up that shows Commander Damage!
I love seeing Oloro! That was my first deck. The stock precon is so weird with all those giant spells and half assed focus on artifacts. Ive adapted it to a life gain "I win" deck with things like Aetherflux Reservoir, Approach of the Second Sun, Sanguine Bond/Exquisite Blood, Felidar Sovereign, and other life total shenanigans and combos.
My first deck too! Lots of good memories
Absolutely love these! Absolutely love the LRR crew! Thanks be to the kingdom of cards!
I like the wheel with random precons. Good way to see how they play out and how strong or weak the commander may be. Great series the game play and banter is always fun to watch and listen.
we run a precon league at my lgs, no changed right out of the box. its hecka fun
Love the video, thanks for representing “normal magic” with the precons.
"many of you will experience green die" never change, cam
Such a great wheel. The sound, the visuals, it is fantastic.
You know I really wasn't sure how the new hosts would handle the wheel after the legacy left by the original but I think they've really filled the old hosts' shoes and mastered the wheel
I love that Ben missed the first command zone trigger 😂
Just Oloro things
Yes!!! Starting my new job and this is the perfect thing to start my day before I go in. Love you guys for this! ♥️
When I saw your video go up,I dropped everything to watch some fun magic with friends
I love that this is commander precons 1. Keep em coming! This is the same kind of pander and pettiness that I get at my kitchen table and I love it!
Very awesome to see so many older decks here. It’s always interesting to see how precons have evolved over time.
Also, it’s impressive that you (Kathleen) landed the most popular Rakdos commander (at least on EDHREC), and proved your skill at using him.
EDIT: I don’t know if you guys accept challenges, but I have one for you (or anyone). I would *love* to see a deck that not only includes both Prosper and Faldorn, but summons both at least once. I like their synergy, but I’m not great at building decks from scratch.
That was a fun episode!
Also, I liked the addition of commander damage when it was happening/relevant. Good editing!
Y'all, this is such a good series. Great job!
All of you are so cute and jovial. I love watching y'all. 💛
This was great! I really hope the Saskia the Unyielding deck makes it onto the wheel at some point... she's my absolute favorite!
NEW EDSC HELL YES, just rewatched the other one so I'm hype for more
Cam: you're all just playing Commander, I'm playing Command & Conquer.
Love the idea, and of course the player banter is pure delight with you guys! Keep it coming!
This series is turning out to be a delight! Thanks for making it :D
YES I’m so glad you guys listened to the comments and decided to go with this!
The wheel knows all; the wheel sees all. Also, thank you Heather :)
Ah to see the old precon decks in their glory brings me boomer joy. And they were able to hang with some new ones. Love the concept of this game. Please do another!
Kathleen, the only non-cursed player at the table, and yet still the first to go. Lol
Loved the game and the show! Thanks for it!
One of the best pieces of commander content recently on this channel, please do more random commander commander games in the future!
The Marath Precon was my first one, even though I started playing years afterwards, so this was pure nostalgia for me
For those who were wondering, treefolks in magic, or at least on Lorwyn arent born, they are literally just trees, Colfenor says that all treefolk were just trees that eventually decided to become conscious and then later they may decide to uproot themselves and start walking about, its a fairly big deal in the book that the Sapling of Colfenor was pretty much skipped its normal tree phase which is why it doesnt have its own name.
As I watched the wheel at the start, my first thought was, "Cameron, the hulk of LRR" hahaha
Of all the naya commanders, Marath was probably the best one for Cam to play. It's like having Umezawa's Jitte as your commander!
I really like that they are using precons, makes one feel like the format is still approachable ( which is not always the case if a deck is worth more than your car)
Can’t wait to get my hands on some LRR sleeves 👀
Loved this. Precon focus is right up my street. Look forward to more
Was excited for the wheel and it didn't disappoint. Great to see out of the box precons.
"But yes, Fire Moose can go dome"
So glad this show exists! My favorite format with my favorite creators!
Please keep doing these videos i love seeing old precons against eachother
I love how the last LRR video I watched had Cameron explain why he doesn't enjoy playing the commander format very much, just to open this one and watch him having a great time and win the game :D
Content I never expected but am grateful for the reactions: Molasses and nuts.
I'm older than Ben and I still never thought of being sent to my room as punishment.
That's where all my stuff was.
card kingdom i love this show. keeping paying the good people of lrr to produce it for you.
Ben got my first ever Commander deck! Much love for the lounging giant who does nothing.
Lonely Sandbar makers of the parody hit "(Commander) Deck In A Box"
Really fun game. We need more Precon Games.
The theme for this is awesome.
Very happy with the episode and range or decks! Was nice to see some old-school options in the mix.
I love this so much
Definitely getting some sleeves when available
*Also may have been about to go "Umm Actually" at the Sweden comment so guess I'm a distinct part of the audience
The classic turn 800 Kodama's reach!
Marath also now says X can't be zero.
Is it just a happy coincidence that there's exactly 2 of each colour
It is! We didn’t even notice at the time.
