I spent 33 years in the Canadian Forces - proudly wearing the uniform and proudly representing with foreign military personnel. Today, with the current iteration of Canada I can not be proud - I live in Ottawa and intentionally did not go down town because I seriously believe this country does not deserve to celebrate.

Every single dollar we earn goes back to the three different government levels in one way or another. Then we heavily fund foreign governments instead of giving tax breaks to Canadians. Our politicians are single handedly the reason for these mess.

The Economy and Immigration hands down are the biggest issues.
Food is sky high atm, and we have no way of making enough housing to keep up with immigration without causing regular Canadians having to compete with Immigrants on the house/rent sector. Not to mention we were once a mixing pot with who came into Canada, now the numbers of who from where is out of balance.
I find it ironic that if i go to a grocery store to get produce its imported from half way around the world, yet if i just go to a farmers market i get produce thats actually fresh and way cheaper. bizarre country we live in. considering loblaws for example lobbies to the govt of canada

For example, some provinces charge the full amount of carbon tax. Some provinces charge less. Some province do not charge the carbon tax.
Another example, all MPs just go a 4% increase in pay. All seniors 75 and older got a 10% increase in their OAS. Other seniors got nothing! WTF!!

I'm amazed at the supports refugees receive. Not that they deserve it but we all deserve the same exact supports - especially the young, homeless, disabled...the disadvantaged in general.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. New canadians can receive a one time $1000 welcome payment. They can receive income support for one year. They have access to language, housing and job support. A discretionary citizen grant may be applied for and an undetermined amt can be given in extreme circumstances. Let me know if i missed something.
