- Sun political columnist Brian Lilley talks with Adam Zivo, who writes for the National Post and Toronto Sun, about why LGBT+ activism has gotten more militant.
To be honest, I’m sick of rainbows, parades, etc. Just get on with life and stop shoving it in our faces.
In the 90's my mother was dying of cancer. We had the same blood type and I thought a directed blood donation would make a very personal gift to my mother. After donating over 50 pints of blood to the red cross I was told that I could NOT give a pint of blood specifically to my mother. The Red Cross told me that it wasn't allowed because if aunt Jane found out that nephew Steven had the same blood type as her but was either a drug addict or gay (hence not allowed to donate blood) they didn't want aunt Jane to find out. My reply was "If nephew Steven can't keep needles out of his arm or men's dicks out of his ass just why are me and my mother being punished?" It took about 3 years but directed blood donations were eventually being allowed.
Another note, if a straight man assaulting a gay man can be called a 'hate crime' why can't a gay man assaulting a straight guy be called a 'hate crime' as well?
Pretty much all the pushing and the narcissisms is what has a lot of people not enjoying it.
The entitled feeling/demands are also getting more and more ridiculous.
That is because none of this is about equality anymore. People are not satisfied to just be equal. Now they want to be special and expect everyone else to constantly affirm that, regardless of whether they want it or not.
As a LGB I agree . I have no idea what the heck happened. One minute we are living like everyone else the next minute it's like watching a sick movie . I don't want pride month , I don't want to be a hypocrite and shove my beliefs and demands down people throats . I turned away from the events it wasn't nothing to celebrate any way. We don't need a month it's ridiculous, we don't need to force people to respect us I'd rather no one knew me at all. Stick to myself I don't bother anyone they don't bother me but lately it is bothering me . Because it's like when people see me they nervous to even say hello without feeling like they are walking on egg shells because of all the suing crap. That ain't right . Plenty of more I don't like going on too. Do what y'all got to do . Don't blame y'all one bit . Don't fund it , don't support it , end the events because no one wants to support evil actions. I like Christian people they tell me all the time God loves me and they love me just want to save me . Other religions though woo wee they want us gone off the planet. Straight folks even voted to help me get married . All these attacks on Christians and straight folks really upsets me . The community turned pure evil . Like a occult more than anything.

People get accused of being phobic if they don’t agree with LGBTQIA’s that’s a lie , people don’t hate you they hate what you represent and pushing it in peoples faces . How you live is your choice and freedom to chose , we also have a choice and right to choose for ourselves to have freedom to walk in freedom to not have this agenda to push your sexual preference on others . It’s called perversion especially pushing it on children . Let children be children . Not to cause confusion that will harm them . Leave our kids alone !!!!

This bothers me large. My partner is a veteran with major traumas from tours of duty. I don't think who people fack deserves a parade, a month of celebration and fanfare when vets get 1 minute of silence.

When I saw the Toronto Pride parade on media last year, with adult men naked playing dominatrix roles in front of children I was disgusted. No support from me.

The Pride parade should be about the struggle that homosexuals have endured and also positive strides that have been made due to their struggle for acceptance.Any overt sexual displays are not to be tolerated in public,leave that sort of thing to private gatherings, nudity should not be acceptable in these parades and any female/ male impersonations should be tasteful and not gaudy but a sympathetic and artistic representation.
There was one Pride event that had Ring toss that used Rainbow coloured Ding dongs one year and in the Video you could see Children in plain view it was disgusting and i instantly lost support for the Pride events for allowing such things out in the open. Not only that but the Pride events cost us the Taxpayer $1.5 Million for Security.
I was ar a coffeshop the day of the parade. I honestly had no idea, I thought I was for the holiday. I saw a man walking by naked, I wad shocked no one called the police? Then some one took a video of my practicing my guitar with pink headphones. I guess know if your on church street every one thinks your gay or support that life style. God forbid if I like pink, or 🌈 (meanwhile according to the Bible it was meant to signify peace)..
Some one even wished me happy pride, so I just told her thanks but I dint celebrate that. I have faith that people 1 on 1 can respect each other and their differences in views. However, large groups can tempt issues and aggression.
And my last though is why is gay activism pushing the actual sexual private acts? Should it be about the relationships not their fetesh?

As gay man myself, I agree. It's sickening, but it was encouraged by Trudeau. Anything Trudeau do, divide this country, and all that nonsense that is force fed on people is nauseating. There's a saying in life that we have to pick our battles (otherwise the silly stuff might destroy the gains that was made, and sadly that's what happened, they shot themselves in the foot); Personally, I think people want to support, as long it make sense. Hello. Just a quick FYI: the language for men who pretend to be women is not "trans man" it's "trans woman". It's the saying "Trans women are women." which is the slogan which has been used to install men and boys who claim a special identity into every single facet of what were women and girl's sex based spaces and rights. By designating men into a subset of womanhood every girl or woman in Canada was also opted into this belief system by being titled "cis". In the lingo of the genderist a "trans man" is a woman who is taking on a special identity. I hope this primer helps...it's confusing by design imho. Cheers TM-

I agree with you 100%. They are confusing children when they are at a vulnerable age and kids with special needs are more susceptible. Studies show that those with ADHD or who are on the spectrum are more vulnerable because they’re more likely not to have a strong identity. Children are having their breast cut off!! The brain is developing until you’re 25! At least there should be a minimum age on surgical or hormonal, transitioning. What if you change your mind and there’s no going back, and your life is ruined?? So many bad side affects. Also, teachers are not psychologists, and they need to leave our children alone. What is happening in schools is criminal, and people are finally waking up.

If you just watched movies, television and commercials you would think the vast majority of the country was gay instead of about 5%. Yet all you hear is how they are discriminated against they are and how "stunning and brave" they are. But I gotta say I would have no problem sitting down and having a beer with this Adam Zivo guy. He is one of the most calm, articulate, rational, non-militant gay people I have ever seen. He is exactly correct in his assertions...the rest of us are soooooo tired of the militant stance his community has taken and it is now been proven that they have done more damage than good. Adam should take a more prominent role and try to steer them back to a more conciliatory tone. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. All of these activists need to learn that rule.

10 years ago I identified pretty much as liberal. I wouldn't call myself a conservative now, but I will certainly be giving them my full support for the forseeable future until this cancer woke ideology is squashed.

That's not what the celebration is. Candace Owens and Officer Tatum might have told you that's the purpose of the parade, but it is not. It is to show recognition of our ability to live openly without persecution, recognizing that it is not afforded the LGBT in many other countries.

I never supported them to begin with but l was " live and let live" until they came for the children and forced us to accept it as " normal.
Another important factor they missed: immigration. Canada has let in a huge number of immigrants, many coming from socially conservative cultures, societies, and faiths. This inevitably impacts things.
This is true, and on the weekends, a group described as “Syrian migrants” in Halifax seriously beat up a lesbian couple. We have to protect our LGBTQ Canadians, but they can’t take over and indoctrinate our children. We need healthy boundaries.
The focus on children and trans activism in the schools dropped my former support/ indifference to 0. Most parents are not going to tolerate this kind of over reach

The crux of the problem comes from abandoning the push for equality and replacing it with equity, which uses open discrimination to achieve.
Then instead of elimination exclusion, they replaced it with forced inclusion by again, openly excluding others.
All that had been achieved of people living and let live, has now reverted society back a few generations and guaranteed that discrimination will live on. (this also applies to race relations) Changing who gets discriminated against doesn't eliminate discrimination, it propagates it.
Alphabet rights do NOT supercede our rights.
No one's rights should supercede another individuals rights, all human rights should be equal across the board.

Children still need to learn what being gay is in school. I believe it’s the right thing so people don’t grow up to be and closed minded and bigoted like yourself. I don’t expect you to get that because you probably weren’t bullied, beat up or even killed because of your sexual preference. Kids needs to learn that being gay is not something to be feared or ashamed of. We’re not “grooming your kids” we’re making them aware of it so something should happen where their parents disown them and they have no place to go that our community will help them find their way. When my 10 year old granddaughter feels uncomfortable with what they teach her at school it pisses me off. Her Nan and Auntie are gay they are angry about what they are teaching 10 year olds at school.
