    BLOOD RECIPE:
    2 tsp red*
    1/4 tsp yellow*
    1 pinch blue*
    *Measurements are for POWDERED food coloring, do not use these measurements if you're using liquid colorings, just use the ratio
    Mix food coloring in 1/2 cup water
    Mix food coloring and water mixture with 1 pint (16 oz) of light corn syrup
    Add 1/2 fl oz. or 1 tbs of translucent dish soap
    Dissolve 1 1/4 tsp powdered coffee creamer in water and add to your blood mixture
    For gel blood, add cabosil to your blood to thicken it up, but be sure to do this in a ventilated area while wearing a dust mask and eye protection.

    if you add fumed silica then you can't apply it to skin after can you? so what do you use it on?

    Instead of Fumed Silicone why not use cornstarch??? Will that work just as well???

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  5 лет назад +15

      Cornstarch would most likely mess with the color and make it weirdly opaque. It wouldn’t have the translucency anymore

    So me and my bestfriend are going as the Grady twins for Halloween. We’ve seen fake blood online and it was wayyy to expensive and I saw this and I actually think we can do this! Only problem we have is that we’re slightly concerned it’ll stain our skin...

      Anything with red pigment will stain your skin for a bit. It’s the nature of red dye. But it’ll come off with some scrubbing. I like to mix up a sugar scrub with sugar and coconut oil anytime I use makeup or fake blood that’s prone to staining 👍🏻

      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  7 лет назад +5

      +ashley gaughan hmmm shouldn't be foamy at all, either too much soap or you mixed it too much most likely. Did you follow the recipe in the description?

    I love this tutorial so much! Now this might be a very random question, but how did you get the top of your hair that white/silvery color?

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC

      +William¡sWeird Thank you so much :) As for the hair, if you want to go any color remotely similar to this (gray, lavender, mint, etc), I 100% recommend going to a professional who's very knowledgable in color; don't attempt to do it on your own because it can be very damaging. I started the process of getting my hair this color in November, at that point my hair was very close to black and I had about an inch of virgin roots because I was preparing for going silver. The first day took around 4 hours, my hair was bleached twice and toned once. On that first day we got my hair to a very dusty lavender with a lot of brassy pieces (see my crystal witch tutorial). I let my hair recuperate for about 3 weeks before going back in, in that time, most of the purple tones faded out, and I was left with very brassy blonde hair, so we bleached it once more to get it very pale blonde. I use purple shampoo about once a week to keep the yellow tones at bay. I recently got my roots touched up, and my stylist used a lavender direct deposit dye on my hair to blend the roots and ends together and also get rid of any yellow. Most salons now carry something called Olaplex, which is mixed with the bleach and there's a treatment for after, so it's way less damaging. If Olaplex wasn't used on my hair, it would be so damaged and weak. It's quite the process to get hair to these light colors, every time I go in, I spend at least three hours there. Also, it doesn't come cheap, you can expect to spend anywhere between $200 and $500 to get something like this done. Hope this was slightly informative :)

    Is it necessary to use corn syrup? Is there anything else you could use besides corn syrup?

      +yuu mizuno There are probably hundreds of recipes for stage blood and I'm sure there's tutorials and recipes for most of them out there. This is the blood recipe I use, but there's tons out there

    Can I just make it without the corn syrup?

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  5 лет назад +2

      The corn syrup is what gives it the right consistency. Without it, you’ll have colored water

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  5 лет назад +3

      This recipe is based in corn syrup. Try looking up “blood recipes without corn syrup”. There’s probably a few out there

    Can I use pancake syrup it’s a lot darker but I’m not sure if it would be ok

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  6 лет назад +4

      +Princess_Elizabeth Pancake syrup has a ton of additives and is a lot stickier, so I'd avoid it. You can buy corn syrup at any grocery store

    Can I use vegetable glycine!?!? Please answer!!!!

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  5 лет назад +2

      Vegetable glycerin? To replace the corn syrup I’m assuming? I honestly have no idea, but I’m going to lean towards no as they have VERY different consistencies and glycerin tends to bead up, which wouldn’t really have a good look

    Or you can go to Walmart :3

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  6 лет назад +11

      +Jackie Clan A lot of the bloods on the market, especially cheap ones at Walmart and target, aren't colored realistically, they just look like melted popsicles. They're also very expensive for the small quantity that you get. Sure, go buy some cheap fake blood if you're only going to use it once, but if you're an sfx artist, it makes a lot more sense to make your own.

    Does the food coloring stain your skin?

    • @ItsGottaBeSarahC
      @ItsGottaBeSarahC  6 лет назад +4

      +LeoAthenaArt Any red pigment has the potential to temporarily stain your skin
