really, because a texas fisherman magazine is the reason I even looked up roosterfish in the firstplace, and for some reason also, it appeared that they were both saltwater and freshwater species.
Sunny day. Golden clean beach. Visibility ♾ How's that color of that ocean?.......And a fighting fish at the end of a rod.... MAN !!!!!! WHAT A DAY THAT MUST BE ???? !!!
For those who said it was fake as pocjetty said it's gills were flaring when landed on beach, also, you try tying a weight to yourself and running around for 5 or more minutes and see how much energy you have to flop around and go crazy afterwards, drag on a reel is effectively a weight being dragged around by a fish.
As you rightly say fish of many species are unbelievably powerful. Non anglers have no idea. Many species lead what look to be sedentary lives but when hooked, display a power and stamina that is often staggering and if they were human athletes with the same strength, would live out their lives totally unrivalled in their prime event.
Definitely a Rooster, you can tell because of the distinct first dorsal fin and light patterning on the body, as well as the elongated pectoral fins. A sea bass has a more single-toned body and less distinctive dorsal/pectoral fins. Awesome catch!
I absolutely love this video, the commentary is the best, that guy is hilarious! Where was this? Where can I find that guide, I want to do this for my 40th birthday!
I'm pretty sure that that yellow thing is called a gotcha it is a type of lure that looks like a fish to attract what you are trying to catch they will work for land fishing or sea water dock fishing. :)
He didn't loose the fish like he thought. The fish changed directions (he was way to the right, then came back to the left) and ran back towards him....that made the line go slack so he said, the fish got off, but as he was retrieving the line he caught up with the fish. He fought the fish momentarily, then the fish ran 180 degrees again from left to right.
I had to watch to see what a rooster fish looked like LOL That is a good size fish you caught and bet that was a lot of fun fighting it all the way to shore
Bad news for those who insist it's fake. When he's pulling it out of the water, the fish is flaring it's gills. It's alive, and the video is real. They don't know it's the biggest ever from a beach, but it's a big gallo.
