I honestly don't know how your channel hasn't blown up more. By far my favorite surfing podcasts to listen to. So many golden nuggets to improve with and the guest list is top tier.
I’ve watched this episode 3 times now 😂 So true about training, but the last bit about body dynamics is GOLD. One thing I would like to know about training is- should you do it everyday? Should you train then surf or the way around?
I’m a Collegiate track and field coach. Always train the actual movement or event when you are fresh, harder training after. Basic concept is fatigued muscle fibers or neuro response won’t allow for the proper technical movements and explosiveness you want to ingrain the actual movements. It doesn’t matter what sport, this is the standard and what science would tell you.
@ShoreySurfAustralia you want to try to prioritise your surfing as much as possible, so I'd advise to surf and then train after. This will increase performance in the water and also reduce the chance of injury. In terms of how many times per week, you can get plenty out of training 3-4 days per week. On the weeks where you are surfing a lot, you may want to swap 1-2 of those sessions out for a mobility/ recovery session. Hope that answer your question!
Yup weights! To my last point on those Brits advise on health brother! You got the foundation now bro. Put on some muscle with the weights and watch you get even better! Edit: Shoot bro didn't see you responded to that comment. haha good stuff brother!

I'm 66 been doing yoga in my hot tub for 20 years.
Also paddling in the tub on my knees. 10 sets 100 strokes. Still catching waves having fun 😊

I learnt a lot in this one too. Was a pleasure to have Kahea on 🔥
I remember KH on the North Shore when he was just getting known. Super stylish ripper and really humble

I miss my carve stick I couldn't afford the full size carve board. But that thing was way better the today's surf skates.
