I've never in my life encountered any other song where the artist singing just one single word is so captivating. Annie Lennox is absolutely majestic! Her unbeleavable creative artistic ability ( song writing, music videos ) alongside her voice, live performing is matched with a level of elegance, grace and beauty that is unrivalled in my eyes.
Brilliant. A moment of introspection, questioning herself even as she's applying her "make-up", preparing the facade she uses for the outside world. Lamenting, perhaps, that the mirror's image will never be deep enough to fulfill the needs of her soul. "Why" must it be this way?. This is my favorite Annie Lennox song, and you're right, Gangster Hippie, it is a declaration. Thanks so much for reacting to this one.
Annie was ahead of her time, and this song reached into my soul in my early 20s. Of course as a teen in 80s loved the Eurythmics, but as a young scared adult entering the 90s , a few songs could put it all in check. Annie was so far ahead of her time, and I loved this song then, love it today. Great reaction .
My day gets better when I get a notification from Lizzie The Gangster Hippie. You always have amazing talented vocalists to post, Lizzie. Annie Lennox definitely made her mark on the musical scene. Everything she does is a pleasure to listen to. Thank you, Lizzie. You, The Stuffed Animal Squad and Annie Lennox.
So glad to help improve your day! And yes, Annie is one of the contributors to the new wave as it was called. She looked and sounded completely different from everyone else and still made it amazing. Thank you for tuning in and i hope you stay safe and well💗
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 You know, the first time I saw Annie she had an androgynous look. She reminded me of David Bowie. Only not as flamboyant.
I love your reaction. When you said its an end of a era or an end of a chapter. I think you hit it on the head with that. I feel like this song speaks to a time when I've had to learn to let go and give up on something that I hoped for. But it never came about in someone I once loved. Thank you.
Annie Lennox has a crystal clear and sharp voice. She's a talent for sure, always has been! Nice to see you again, the bubbles were funny and original as well. Stay safe and take care.
I hope you are well Lizzie. you are a joy. We all get different things, but this song, for me, is questioning the meaning of life after love of everything is lost, the nature of reality when our heart is broken beyond repair. I am sure I read into words and emotions, as we often do. All the best, Thomas
Sorry to comment late. I am in another country over seas. Annie has an amazing voice and is direct with what she wants to put across. Please keep doing a good job posting and evaluating strong women in music. We need that now than ever.
Annie and Lizzie said, "We are not here to play. We are here to slay. Deal with it." I love two stunning Divas together: Lizzie and Annie. You are both fierce and unstoppable. Own this world. The world needs you.
This was, or came out right at the time my dad died super unexpectedly. I almost didn't make it through that one 😢. This song still makes me cry my eyes out when I hear it.
If you’ve never heard you MUST check out Love Song For a Vampire from Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Absolutely hands down brilliant beautiful song. Ps Why is from the 90s. ❤ you just can’t lose with Annie Lennox.
She is asking that question because she knows how she feels, she is asking the question because she is dealing with people, talent agents and/or record companies who are asking her to answer that question.
Of course, I knew this song, but it really hit me when I was going through my divorce. I was walking through the grocery store, and it came over the Musick. Made me cry.
Annie is amazing...seeing her live in concert with Sting...OMG! Are you aware of her daughter Lola is a recording artist? I've listened to Annie since the very early 80s and with any great artist voices mature. Listening to Lola today is like listening to Annie 35 or 40 years ago. Peace ✌️ love your videos.
Diva, the solo album containing this song "Why", is a masterpiece, I like just about every song in it. I only have 2 CDs of Annie Lennox, the compilation CD "Eurythmics Greatest Hits" and "Diva" both are fantastic.
@@ingvarjensen1088, I actually have a few thousand CDs, that I never listen to any more. Now when I want to listen to a song I just pull it up on my computer.
