Man this project was a bear and a half. Rounded off bolts in tight spots during the delete stage, using 2ft long extensions on the impact to reach impossible bolts. The manhandling of the horizontal egr. To top it off, snapping a bolt head during the install of the final blocking plug.
I spent 13 hours the first day and 6 hours the 2nd day because of all these roadblocks. Knowing that my truck will last significantly longer makes it all worth it though

I commented on your tuning video, but I really used this video as my primary source for info on the EGR delete. I bought a 2008 F250 6.4 Powerstroke last year with 167,000 miles on it. It was still in pretty good external, internal, and engine shape. I performed the physical delete of the EGR and DPF systems within the last month. I had trouble with a Minimaxx tuner not working right, so I had to return it and get another one, so I just got the tune done today. I am already getting much better gas mileage. It jumped from at best 13 to over 17 running in limited power mode! I am hoping it will help this truck last longer too. Also there is now way more space in the engine compartment, so that's good too.
Here are a couple things that were different about my EGR delete. It is now 6 more years on, and that means 6 more years of rust and sticking. If you are doing a delete now, you are likely not going to put those parts back on anyway. The coolers were the main problem. Where the bottom cooler goes into the exhaust, I could not get those 2 bolts loose!! I ended up rounding off the bolts after trying every tool I have and a couple that I went out and bought. So my solution was to take my oscillating tool with carbide blades and cut them off. It took over and hour and 2 blades to get the off. It is okay to cut the heads off because they are loose on the exhaust side. The bolts are forever stuck in the cooler, which is getting recycled/thrown away anyway. Also because I knew I was not going to reuse it, I made the decision to cut off a couple of pieces of the bottom cooler with my sawzall. It came out much easier that way without having to figure out the puzzle!
Finally, the bottom manifold bolts that fasten the bottom cooler to the manifold (there are top manifold bolts which were pretty accessible) were very hard to loosen. They were not really stuck, but I could not get a regular ratchet on there and still get any torque. Fortunately, a mechanic friend came over with a jointed wrench and that allowed me to get the torque I needed. The socket goes on from the bottom, but the wrench was able to be straight up and down so I get torque pushing the wrench down. The manifold bolts were not really tight, I just could not get torque from the limited position I had with a regular ratchet wrench.
Here is a hint about doing the physical work before the tune. The truck will run in limited mode with the EGR codes thrown, but not the DPF codes. It simply will not start with the DPF codes on. I was able to use the truck initially by cancelling the codes with an OBD II scanner and then turning it on, but don't let it stop while you are still using it or you will have to do it again! I was able to get all the DPF sensors off and simply plug them back in and zipped them up and out of the way, so the codes would not be thrown. That allowed me to just use the truck in limited power mode until I got the tune done today with the new Minimaxx.

Great job on that EGR delete did realize the boost. Also, the stock intake was too restrictive and the change filter light kept coming on. So I got a high-performance one. Now everything breaths much better. I can't believe how much better the engine runs and pulls but there is still a slight amount of black smoke on lift-off. I'll live with it for now. Maybe someone has a suggestion to get that under control. It is not obnoxious. But it is noticeable. Thanks, good job.

Thanks Tylor. I think I've seen and followed all your invaluable videos I have added a large area catch can a DIY 4"X7" PVC with 1" ID inlet and Exit ports on the inlet I have a 90% 6.5"X1/2 well-ported with 1/4 " holes to the bottom of the of the can where there is a 2" deep collection reservoir topped with a well ported PVC cap again well ported with 1/4" holes then the can gets filled with SS wool up to the exit 1" ID port 1" tubing seems to be the best. Very low restrictions of ventilation of CCV pressure and gasses. I will not be running that engine sewage back to my combustion chamber to mess with the perfect air fuel mix. depleting HP and MPG.
P.S. The catch can has a 1/4" ball cock drain valve on it and is mounted on the right outside frame rail just under the passenger seat for easy excess. Good to hear from you Tailer it's now September 2024 my truck has 140K miles doing well have tuned my low boost fuel to #2 of a factory setting. Seems OK with zero black smoke on a normal LA take off.😅

You should jack the cab up as high as possible and block it. Then get that EGR down pipe out of there and reroute the Exhust back pressure censor. I put mine in the middle of the cut off plate now at the top of the up pipe that the EGR down pipe connected to. You should get enough room to work on that Conection of the EGR down pipe to the up pipe at the top back of the engine when you jack the Cabe up just watch you dont start stretching thing. One problem that I have seen on videos is that the blocked off exhast pipe tends to vibrate back and forth and crack where it joins the up pipes and leak.
That is a cab up repair.
So, if you can somehow stabilize where the block off was install, it will not create problems.

Of course the Spartan turns off the egr cycles but still concerns me. My engine blow by is minimal and will not even flutter the reservoir cap. This is on a King Ranch F450 with 4.88 gears. Alternator died about 10k miles ago and other than that, it’s been flawless. I feel the 6.4 rumors is just that. Rumors. There’s bad trucks from all brands, but my 6.4 and 6.0 trucks have treated me well. I do have have a cruise control sensor on the master cylinder trying to lay out of work as we speak. Hey man, great vid!!!! For heads up and to possibly save your truck, you will want to move that block off plate up to the Y pipe behind the turbo. If you don't, then the bracket that holds on the exhaust pipe (currently blocked off) will crack and break due to lack of rigidity with the egr cooler gone. Have the block off plate drilled and tapped to 1/8 NPT. Disconnect and straighten out the EBP tube and it will thread in exactly how it does to the exhaust pipe. Google and RUclips search EBP relocation and you'll see this isn't a joke. It's a pain in the a$$ but if you like your truck, you'll consider it.

I did mine today using the information from this video step by step. Everything went well but that cooler bracket is a real pain in the ass to remove. Thanks a lot for the video, it is completely accurate and very helpful!

Now it's jack up the cab and front clip about 6 inches or more to remove the down pipe before it breaks off or cracks open. Then reroute the back pressure sensor and tube to the block off cape to now at the passenger side up pipe. Ya ya, I know I should have done it at the same time. The stories of owning a deleted 6.4 But now I love her more.

Ok, this makes sense and this stuff is sold all over the place. How about a software or tuner to disable egr and make sure engine is not damaged. Anyone know?

Just did this to my 2010 with 180,000 miles I bought for work a pain, but not impossible for a mechanically inclined individual.
Curious as to just taping up the three plugs that went into the EGR I need to get this wrench and reduced engine power off now.

the check engine light obviously will come on after the delete. What tuner will keep the light off or what tuner do you recommend. Thank you bud on the info. I love my 6.4 even tho it’s known to have problems. I’m hoping to get ahead of it. I just hit 101k miles.

After removing that gummie EGR is there a way to clean the rest of the intake out? I'm sure airflow would improve.

Taylor, thanks for the egr delete vid. If you don't mind a couple of quick questions. 1st you just taped up the sensors they don't have to plug back into anything? Anywhere
Secondly how does your truck run since you did the delete

This is an older video and I'm not sure if you'll see this or even know the answer for sure, but does the 6.4 need a tune with this EGR delete kit? I can't find a good solid answer online. I recently purchased a truck it has the dpf delete and an Edge CS tuner, but the EGR assembly appears to be fully intact so I'd like to get rid of it, but I'm not sure if that means I'll also need to budget for a new tuner. The edge has a selectable option for DPF installed yes/no but I don't see anything about EGR.
Thinking maybe I can just unplug it and fire it up and see what it says as a sort of test?
Any thoughts tips or advice would be much appreciated. This video itself is great I'll be watching it again once I figure out my plan and eventually remove this EGR junk. Thank you
