    How important is a daily routine? Ayurveda recommends not only practicing a morning routine, but also building a routine that follows the Ayurvedic clock-incorporating daily rituals that balance certain doshas at certain times of the day. In this video, Vasant Lad, world-renowned practitioner, author, and founder of The Ayurvedic Institute, shares his insights on the concept and importance of a daily regimen (dinacharya) in Ayurveda.

    Can I ask, how do you go about time when the seasons affect the sunlight hours? I learned that getting up before 6 am is best, but I also read that 1.5 hrs before sunrise is a good time to get up. But that means that in the winter (In holland at least), I would wake up in kapha time. What is more important?

    • @banyanbotanicals
      @banyanbotanicals  3 года назад +11

      Ideally we would rise before the sun. This time will vary however based off time and year and your individual constitution. According to Dr. Lad, the best rising time for Vata people is by 6:00 am, Pitta people by 5:30 am, and Kapha by 4:30 am.

    • @ShivamSharma-po1hu
      @ShivamSharma-po1hu 3 года назад +1

      u mean 12 am right? if this is the question then i think , one should follow their body clock ,if it is impossible to adjust with your daily hectic work schedules but if it is possible to alter the time and if you can sleep at around 10 and wake up early then you would feel like "now no more of sleep is needed" , i have felt that and i have read in a certain ancient text as well (idk the source ,but it is trustworthy) , that one hour before mid-night is equivalent to 3 hours of after 12 mid-night , so it is like 3+3 +4(if you wish to wake up at 4) =10hrs of sleep and that is AWESOME and it is up-to you only whether u wish to believe the text , but you can at least try. Bbye ( Namaste )

      If you feel that you only need 6 or 7 hours of sleep, perhaps your body clock is working well? Do you feel this is enough? Do you WANT to move it back a couple of hours? If so, maybe you could try getting even earlier until the pattern of becoming exhausted at the time of day you want to go to sleep (10:00 pm) you can gradually re-set. Good luck. I was a night owl for decades and now, after a few years of routine change - I am now on perfect schedule.

    Dear drLad, I made myself infused herbal oils ( shatavari / red clover ( dill & ajwain seeds) to help topically manage ‘menopause from hell’ in addition to taking herbs internally. I’d get good results using 1 drop of each on skin every 2 hours but even that small amount causes pain in my back ( presumably agitating liver or adrenals? ) what do u think is going on and why? THank u so much ❤️

      Thank you for tuning in! 💚 I completely understand the student aspect and late-night studying, it is still most optimal to try and get to bed at a reasonable time and wake up earlier in the morning if possible.

      Hi there! That's a good question. Today's modern lifestyle isn't necessarily set up to offer time for an ideal daily routine. You're not alone in this! We'd say focus on trying to find routine and balance in whatever ways you can with your schedule. Don't stress out about not being able to have a perfect daily routine. Find things that work for you and your schedule and stick to those daily if you can! Even finding the time to do one things like abhyanga daily would be beneficial.
