When I'm listening to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros suddenly all this love, peace and happiness appears everywhere. Go on with opening people's hearts and minds!
So much better than the album version. Actually this Live song stands alone as my top song from them. Videography is great too. Really captures the band at who they are- Awesome!
I think that this live version is better than the released version because of how emotionally power Alex makes the lyrics sound. This version makes me feel like it is someone protecting me because of how joyous and developed they sound in this.
They remind me of The Grateful Dead. This is ,by far, the best live Edward Sharpe performance yet. They sound WAY better live compared to their recordings.
It was amazing to be there and see these guys live. I can be in crappiest of moods, put these guys on and BAM! Happiness and love and peace fills the room (:
i was at the concert in guthrie right in front of the stage and they played this song and while he was singing i made eye contact with him and the feels that flowed through were out of this world
❤❤❤❤ If I were free I would run into battles with flowers and hugs And bow at the boots of our well-oiled thugs Yes, if I were free If it were me I would yell out "I love you!" to all I passed I would disrobe and disco and rip off my mask Yes, if I were free I'd be the 'U' that crossed the 'I' to simply 'b' Minding our reflections at the bottom of the sea What did you see? I saw that you and I forever have been free The light became too heavy and I fell into a dream What did you dream? I dreamed a wind that would sweep Every castle made of sand Out across the old far holy land Oh, if this were free If this were free We'd be free of the terror of the graves And fear masquerading as the brave Oh, if this were free I woke upon a pig of red, white and blue The circus got too heavy so we fell into the zoo What did you feel? I felt the fear that every queer does in his head First thing to starting over, I made sure I was dead What did you dream? Swimming with ancients, laughing, tired of getting lost We took our left, remember, when we leaned upon the cross What did you see? I saw that you and I forever have been free The light became too heavy and we fell into a dream ❤❤❤

Ok, so if cloning is a real thing, then this whole band needs to be cloned. Future generations deserve this musical magic too. I just found them a few months ago and i cannot get enough. Best band ever imho. Its not about money or fame with them- its about the art & essence of music itself. Thats what sets them apart from the rest- they are unique.
Band: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Singers: Alex Ebert, Jade Castrinos. Edward Sharpe is, as himself said, "the perfect Alex Ebert", a name he invented for himself, as Clark Kent invented Superman.
"Speaking of Coca Cola..." *cue song which is completely Coca Cola unrelated* ;) He's let off the hook on the basis that he's mother fucking Alexander Ebert, bitches.

Love the little psychedelic solo.

His voice some kind of Bob Dylan ..... and the style of this particular song reminds of British band The Kinks from the 60s.
