The models who know, give the hem a little kick, so the dress floats out ahead of them. What Naomi was trying to say (but it didn't come through because it looked like she was trying to control her anger) was something about respecting the designer's vision enough to present the dress without grabbing it up in your hand and possibly ruining it.
If you consider that the beads and sequins and crystals are sown onto those haute couture gowns one at a time, and the dresses are handled by people with gloves - it is clear that it is a matter of pride not bragging when Naomi says she "never put a (bare) hand on a gown". When someone basically says "We are the same, therefore we would act the same..." It is a very appropriate time to bring up your different levels of experience.
You wouldn't compare your experience in your job to that of your Manager's Manager because by title and hierarchy you are objectively not on the same level. The way you do your work means nothing in terms of how they might do their work. Just because the Modelling industry doesn't clearly put someone's experience level in front of their name (at least not constantly) it doesn't mean that these levels don't exist.
Of course our shady Queen raised her voice (as she does) but she has a right to defend the integrity of how she conducts her work, through the respect she has for the clothing she is responsible for modelling.
