"Are you my mummy??" - SUCH A GOOD THROWBACK 🤣
The funniest part is that no one would get that joke, 10 did it just for himself
It was also (allegedly) an adlib by David Tennant.
I absolutely LOVE that he's watched the past episodes AND has paid attention!!
@julesreacts So glad that you left that in.
@@julesreacts Tennant is a huge Doctor Who nerd.
You notice how Sylvia is so negative towards Donna yet Wilf is so supportive of her and thats what she needs in her life the positive vibes
YES! Wilf is absolutely so precious.
Yeah it’s no wonder why Donna is so less confident of herself is it because she always being put down by her Mum.
@@rtaylor7384 Mm. We've had parents like that in our family. I empathize!
@@rtaylor7384 I like Sylvia because she's a realistic portrayal of a mother trying her best but obviously getting it wrong by trying "tough love".
"SONTAR... HAH!" using their battle cry to mock them, so good.
I love that Martha stayed with her clone, and connected to her via her family. In that one scene you get everything you need to understand martha jones as a character
Hard agree
2 of my favorite Tennant moments in this episode with the “are you my mummy?” call back and the non-chalant “If I see one more gun…” moment.
Wilf is the best companion relative, he just is.
The Sontarans are an enemy from the classic series, and the enemy mentioned as their other side of the war, the Rutans, are jellyfish aliens who they’ve been fighting since back then.
And there it is again... Wilfred Mott just grabbing my heart by how supporive he is! The guy isn't even a fan of the aliens, even to a point that he goes on patrols to keep 'em ruining Christmas nights, and here he is... 100% on the side of the Doctor, just because her grandaughter Donna is, despite her mum being not a big fan. :D And just so her granddaughter will have a blast and an adventure.
Here's a salute for you, Wilf my man!! o7
“You go with the doctor” at 00:45 hurts a lot more now after the 60th RIP Bernard Cribbins.
I've always really loved that characterisation moment of the Doctor at the end of this episode. He knows perfectly well that the Sontarans would never agree to surrender to save their own lives, and simply sending the igniter thing up like Martha suggested would be strictly better for him... but his morals don't allow him to. He has to give them a choice.
Can't wait for next episode by the way! It's another one with some very good moments.
The previous Companion families served their purpose. Jackie was meant to contrast with Rose and had a mini arc and the Jones' family simultaneously gave Martha an excuse to escape their drama/her life for a bit (I see it as an allegory of a viewer using the show as a means to escape life for a bit) while also providing a realistic conflict of a family member being suspicious of The Doctor.
That said, none of those comes close to the Nobles. Sylvia is like a mix of Jackie (contrast with her daughter) and the Jones (source of stress that the Companion wants to get away from). And WILF! The purest soul and most supportive granddad in DW/fiction. 😁
“Are you my mummy “ was an add lib from David. It’s great having a fan as The Doctor.
You now what. Especially for a 2 part-er. We didn't get enough of a return of the real Martha or really getting to see her medical chops, now that she's a graduate. So whether it was planned or not, her being in another episode was a good move from the writers.
This is such fun journey as I get to experience the highlights and see other people's favorite moments in the reaction and in the comments. I never got to gush over the episodes when they were airing because I didn't know anyone else who liked the show.
The actor that plays the grandfather also played as a companion in the second 1960s Doctor who movie. Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.
Ah Jules, Wilf is going to break your heart every time.
He's our adopted granddad 😭
Brattigan for me is such an interesting example of an obviously intelligent person being radicalised to the point of insanity (as evidenced by his students reactions to his plan). Not even the radicalisers (the Sontarans) fully believed what he believed, they just fed his intelligence until he rationalised an excuse to betray his entire planet. Then the second it goes away he breaks down entirely. We see him try to reject responsibility (while threatening the Doctor) and when even that fails, he takes responsibility properly and sacrifices himself to undo the damage he did. I think this episode has a lot to say and is somewhat underappreciated in that respect.
A very interesting character, indeed!
@@julesreactsI also love his last line, that he's doing "something clever" with his life as the doctor asked. Its such an elegant way to build up his self sacrifice in a short time and make his (partial) redemption feel more earned.
Haha The Doctor referencing series 1.
The Sontarans really are fun.
The next episode is so brilliant.
Where Tennant meets his wife....
Donna's Grandad reminds me a lot of my late Grandpa who sadly passed away earlier this year.😢
He had the same love in his heart for his grandchildren just like Wilfred has for Donna.🥲
I don't think it's a stretch to say that Wilf is everybody's favorite companion family member. 🥰
The Sontarans have been a recurring villain since the '70s; their debut story, _The Time Warrior,_ is one of my favorite episodes. Their enemies, the Rutans, on the other hand, have only made one appearance thus far. I keep hoping they'll do more with them.
And yes, Wilfred (Donna's granddad) is the best! I think it's safe to say he's one of the most widely-beloved characters in the show's entire 60-year history -- and with good reason!
I'm glad that someone's commented on them because I was just wondering how they came about. I can imagine that the writers/producers at the time just wanted The Doctor to fight an all-out warrior race of aliens that wasn't the Daleks, but what was going on in the '70's that inspired them? What are they an allegory for?
We've already got Daleks as the Nazi's, so the Sontarans feel like Vikings to me, especially with their love of dying in battle. They don't really want to be the only life form in existence as they seem to be more focused on their 50,000 year war with the Rutans and maybe just conquer a planet on the side to create more clones to facilitate said war or just to have fun and start another one.
They're goal isn't mass destruction or genocide, they just love the front line battle. To kill *and* be killed (as long as it's honorable and in the spoils of war).
It's not: "Kill everything". Just: "Kill anything".
@@JoeThornhill I'm pretty sure they were meant to be a commentary on colonialism and imperialism, and on the way that results in the normalization and glorification of violence. Literally the first thing we ever see a Sontaran do is, after _crash-landing and getting stranded,_ while standing right in front of the people who already live there, plant a flag in the ground and say "I hereby claim this planet as property of the Sontaran Empire." That feels like a pretty on-the-nose jab at colonialism, imo.
@@Alfwin Yeah, so just most of history, then. Not recent events or pop culture? Just after I posted I thought about the Romans too, but I had to go to a Job Centre appointment. So, anyway. My thinking was that there might've been a movie about the Romans, Vikings or maybe the British, but I think we just did a lot of trading too.
Love a good callback to the Ninth Doctor's time with "Are you my mummy?"
There was also a reference to The Brigadier, Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, in this one. He was the high-ranking U.N.I.T. officer who worked closely with the third and fourth Doctors on many an adventure back in the 70s/80s. Sadly the actor who played him has passed away, but the character's legacy lives on in the new show.
I can get why you wouldn't have a high opinion of Sylvia, though I personally have never really disliked her. She's definitely too harsh on Donna, but this episode does a good job of showing us she's not heartless, as she wishes Donna was with them when things were bad and such. She reminds me of a slightly harsher version of my own grandmother, who also fusses quite a lot the way Sylvia clearly does over Donna. She should be nicer, but at least the way she acts comes from a place of concern for her daughter over anything else. At least, that's how it seems to me.
I'm so pleased that Bernard Cribbins' performance as Wilf is having the same impact on you as it does on the rest of us! Wilf is the best!
And we one get more trip with Martha! Should be interesting for you to see what made the TARDIS play up like that!
Sylvia is on the verbally abusive side, which has a lot of effect on a child and we see in Donna's confidence issues. She does no doubt care about Donna, and she's not beyond redemption by any means. Wilf is so sweet, you wonder what Sylvia went through to get like this. Was her mother really harsh the way she is or did something later on cause it? Like Francine, she doesn't trust the Doctor, and when we know what the companions go through, I think most of us wouldn't feel great about our daughters going through it, so it may be their instincts aren't wrong from a parental perspective, even though they _don't_ know those things.
I would really love a support group with Jackie, Francine, and Sylvia, although, of course, that's impossible. Jackie really got the best deal. Her family was reunited because of the Doctor. I guess you could say that with Francine too, but at what cost, and I'm not sure that reconciliation will last. What will happen with Sylvia, if anything, we have to wait to see.
@@HuntingViolets That's a pretty reasonable analysis. It would be pretty interesting to see a support group of different companions' families.
Aaah!........ Donna & Wilf, a match made in TV heaven.
I fell sorry for that guy. Got use by the sontarans. Man that was one hell of a redemption ark for him when he blew them up.
It also the Tardis doesn’t want Martha to leave to. lol
Aw, that's sweet to think the Tardis loves Martha too.
I agree. I wish he got more recognition for his sacrifice. But all Donna does is hit the Doctor, and the others don't say anything.
You are forgetting the oldest companion you have seen, Sarah Jane.
The Sarah Jane Adventures also technically connects to this particular to parter. It’s nice that some of the stories cross over like this, especially with that spin-off.
I think donna's mother is just afraid of what might happen to Donna when she travels with him. like she said in the episode look what happens when the doctor is around. I see that she is cranky and rude but I think it comes from a good place. Great reaction
Yeah, that's true! She is a bit cranky, but to be fair, we've also not seen a lot of her OTHER than when she is cranky 😅 She's probably usually wonderful!
Thing is, are the Sontarans Queen fans? Sontar-Ha! Sontar-Ha being to the same beat as We Will Rock You.
I hate waiting for your Doctor Who reactions, but I love when they finally get here.
Aww thank you!!
Fantastic reactions from Jules, to this awesome episode of New Who.
The on screen relationship between Wilf and Donna is purely superb television and it's all down to the incredible acting from Bernard and Catherine.
Love how the Doctor clocked pretty much immediately that Martha wasn't herself. It's like with Rose/Cassandra in New Earth - where he immediately picked up on her change of voice, and was only briefly distracted from his suspicions when she snogged him! The very next scene he was back to: "Yep, something's up..." In both cases, the companion's capacity to CARE is put to the test. And notice how after telling Clone-Martha that Donna's "gone home" cos "she not a soldier", he then says "Avanti!", rather than his usual "Allons-y!"
Anytime I remember this episode I think about all the asthmatics who have difficulty whenever there is a bonfire or hell even on days when people are out mowing their lawns.
You have such a gentle calming voice.. great reaction.. my fave doctor and Donna episode still to cone
Thank you so much, Damien 😊
Juliette, here in NYC there is a subway line that is advertising the new season of Doctor Who. Beautiful artwork covers the subway cars and features the Tardis, new Doctor and Companion. Obviously, with Disney involved in Doctor Who now, there is money to advertise in the States like they have never been able to do before, but it's so wonderful to see for a long time fan of Doctor Who
For all the popularity that the show has here, it's still nowhere near as well known as shows like Star Trek. I mean, people who don't care a bit for science fiction still know Star Trek, but have never heard of Doctor Who
As a kid, two episodes were shown ever Saturday morning, but only of the 4th Doctor. I would try to talk to other kids about the show, but hardly any of them were watching. Later, the only way to watch the show was to adjust the rabbit ears on the TV to try to get reception from a PBS station in the next state over!!!
So, to see this kind of advertising, on a subway train in NYC is surreal. I've waited 30+ years to see the show get this kind of exposure!!!
That is so amazing to see advertisement for Doctor Who in NYC! I love that!!
Ten saying, "Are you my mummy?" was, at the time, groundbreaking comedy. In the Classic series, it was incredibly rare for there to be any reference of past events. With the exception of each Doctor's first story, which by necessity referenced what caused the change, every story existed in isolation. The only exception I can think of to this is in the 20th anniversary special, when it was noted an illusion of Adric still had the badge that was destroyed in his last episode. Acknowledging it's own past was one of the things that made New Who stand out from its predecessor.
I love Donna and Wilf together so much. They really care about each other, and Wilf is super encouraging. Great video as always. It sucks what you have to do to avoid copyright issues, but it's fine to put up with it to see your reactions! Can't wait for the next one!
Awww thank you, leon! I've been experimenting with just the logo across and no other things, which is working, so we'll go back to that at episode 7. The logo seems enough! I'm so annoyed with the BBC though 🤣
Good conclusion. This 2-parter has grown on me over time.
And yeah, Wilf is so damn good. Bernard Cribbins was fantastic in this role
and this is the episode where the doctor starts reversing donna’s low opinion of herself thanks to sylvia. i love him telling her how great she is so much 😭😭😭
Not Ross! *sobs*
Wilf will forever be one of the top Doctor Who characters largely due to the legendary Bernard! Also so glad you left in "Are you my mummy?"
Such a good episode as you get an old villain reimagined, the return of The Valiant, seeing The Doctor's hatred of weapons/war and the surprise the Colonel suddenly comes up with a master plan to strike back showing The Doctor should sometimes listen and not assume others can't help.
From now on, it's (almost) only absolute bangers the whole season.
*_We're in the endgame, now._*
Spot the famous person.
As most of the cast is the same as last week, the choice is limited
So thanks to Gav-mj6lx who pointed out last week that I had missed mentioning the person who played General Staal
So this week the award goes to …
Christopher Ryan who plays General Staal
Christopher is known for playing Mike in the Young Ones alongside Rik Mayall (RIP), Adrian Edmondson and Nigel Planer
He has also acted in Dr Who before, as Kiv in 1986.
He has appeared in Bottom, One Foot in the Grave, Only Fools and Horses, Mr Bean and French and Saunders
Honourable mentions go to (also pointed out to me last week, thanks)
Christian Cooke
Ryan Sampson
He was in My Family as well
Another plus to having Donna in the show. Wilfred, love that old guy.
YES! Thank goodness for Donna 😄
There isn't much the fandom agrees on unanimously but Wilf seems to be widely loved and the passing of his actor, Bernard Cribbins was bittersweet but he will live forever in his episodes of Dr Who and there aren't many who can claim that honour.
I adore how much we love Wilf!!
There seems to be a theme with the Doctor having trouble with companions' mothers. First Jackie Tyler, then Francine Jones and now Sylvia Noble. I find if interesting that you weren't so fond of the Sontarans for being too evil yet you love the Daleks who are as evil as they come in the show ;)
It's a shame you missed out the line referencing the Brigadier. He won't mean much to a revival audience but he was head of UNIT (or at least the UK division) back in the day and a very close friend of various versions of the Doctor, perhaps far more of a companion than any 'official' companion ever was. It's not surprising that the Doctor got frustrated having to deal with Colonel Mace instead.
Ah, sorry about cutting out a line! Not everything can be left in, of course. It's a struggle as it is with the BBC!
@@julesreacts That's fine. Obviously you have to cut the episode down a lot and you had no reason to believe there was anything remotely interesting or important about that little exchange :)
Bernard Cribbins ❤
Mrs Jules the lovely RUclipsr content creator with another badass episode of Dr Who
Thank you! I hope you enjoy!
THANKS for this!!!! I'm sure the Patreon folks told you Bernard Cribbins is a featured star in the second '60s theatrical DW movie starring Peter Cushing.
Thank you, Isiah! I'm so glad you enjoyed 💜
You're right that Sontarans are persistent, but you said it before their plan was stopped.
Apparently, the "are you my mummy?" line was ad libbed by David Tennant on the day, and they liked it so much they left it in
I've heard that! It suited it perfectly AND shows that David pays attention to past episodes 😅
@@julesreacts yepp!! he's a big fan and apparently doctor who inspired him to be an actor :D
4:51 I noticed that with New Who whenever they want to show "news from the USA" they ALWAYS use the same actress to play the newscaster. You'd think the USA only had one!😆
I actually looked her up on IMDb. She's an American based in England and she's gotten lots of work on Doctor Who and other shows in the Doctor Who universe playing the same newscaster over the years
At least they are keeping her in a job 🤣
Trinity Wells
Jules, gush alert !!! You are such an awesome reactor ... you make things so much fun and enjoyable !!! I don't know if it's because everything seems to hit you exactly like it does me, that you make me feel like I did when "I" watched the show for the first time, because of your beautiful nature//soul or a combination of these, but you always make me so happy. I always feel like I'm sharing something special with a kindred spirit and a long lost friend, and that's a testament to YOU, not me. I hope that gives you even a little bit of the joy you bring me each week. I hope you have a great weekend 🤗💋💕😊👍!!!
Steve!! Thank you for your kind words 🤗 I hope you have a brilliant weekend, dude! Be good and take care 💜
Donna and Wilfred (Wilf for short) are high on my beloved list of The Doctor's friends
Wilf is just gorgeous 💜
Of course I am always happy to see Martha again. Too bad her clone died. The more Martha, the better. And, yes, she looks good in the coat.
I like that Donna's granddad is more like her dad! Very supportive and always looking out for her too. And I like that this sentiment goes both ways... she treats him like he's her father and looks out for him too. He trusts her and her judgement, not like her mom. Plus, I am guessing that having someone like her mom around caused the two of them to team up even before the Doctor showed up in her life. It is a dynamic that is meaningful! And how bad do you feel for the "kid" Luke? He thinks he and his mates were going to start a new world when the Sontarans were done with Earth. So he is feeling pretty "Big for his britches" in the "Sontaran Stratagem." Until he finds out they were saving him for target practice, and worse, gets basically ignored by the Doctor and his companions when he threatens them with a gun! Also, when is the army going to change their orders from "Do as Command says" to "Do as the Doctor says!" How many hundreds of years has he been involved in the salvation of Earth with the military involved? You'd think they'd know by now to a) trust the Doctor and his companion(s), and b) Do as he asks or orders! So many lives would have been saved if they had just done that! And, good eyes for spotting Rose!! Let's see where the TARDIS is taking all of them now!! A good episode and a wonderful reaction!
How did Sylvia get the way she is, though?
This is a perfect example of how Doctor Who makes up a simplistic resolution to the threat with an emotional climax - getting rid of the gas seemed simple in the end but we then get one of those perfect Doctor moments - you said it, he’d rather risk his life for the possibility he wouldn’t have to kill them.
I have to say General (colonel?) Staal was a fantastic performance - doesn’t matter that he’s a war-obsessed mass murderer - he’s still camp as hell 😂
Damn it, I'm late because I got sick....😔
Still trying to say a word or two, hope someone'll read it.
15:37 This moment right here... 🤤😭😭
I was alluding to this the week before in the comments 😅 I was actually having this moment in mind.
I remember, this moment caught me so off guard, that I actually broke into tears. Interestingly enough, I remember REwatching this episode after a while, because I was showing it to my mom for the first time (I had already seen it, she didn't). Yet I had COMPLETELY forgotten about this moment and how the episode ended. It happened from time to time, that I couldn't instantly memorize a Doctor Who episode after the very first watch 😅
Even though this is certainly memorable.
What a character arc. /twist... 😔🥺
Anyway, I just wanted to mention that.
This moment got me emotional. He shouldn't have had to die.....
NoBody captures the TARDIS.......and that was Rose....=))
Wilf and Donna are both absolute gems.
But, I actually really like Sylvia (Donna's mum) too. A bit like Jackie, her heart is in the right place, but she is not very good at expressing her emotions or showing motherly support in effective ways. Don't forget that her husband passed away between The Runaway Bride and the beginning of Series 4, so she's had a bit of a rough time. The way she cries in this episode while her lovely dad tries to comfort her is a really poignant moment for her character, I think. It shows that she is such a scared and fragile person behind the crankiness. When she seems to demonstrate a lack of faith in Donna, it's more reflective of her own low self-belief.
Great analysis of Sylvia’s character. There’s so much more to her than most people get.
Agreed, I don't really hate Sylvia either. She reminds me a bit of my grandmother, in a way, in that they both love to fuss. The way Sylvia treats Donna seems mean-spirited looking in, but I could always tell it was at least coming from a place of concern for her daughter's future, even if Sylvia is being a bit harsh and overbearing.
I haven't seen enough of Slyvie yet, but I'm always open minded. I think Wilf has just stolen the show for me haha
@@julesreacts of course! I have the benefit of having watched and thought about Doctor Who far too many times to admit! You're totally justified in loving Wilf. He's a star and the actor, Bernard Cribbins, was a British national treasure. I remember, as a child, loving his portrayal of Perks in The Railway Children too ✨
It's sad how people pass these things on to their children, often without realizing it. I wonder what Wilf's wife was like.
Tom Milligan, yes. (The actor went on to play Lucifer, and Tennant went on to play a demon, which is fun.)
Re: Donna's grandad.
My best friend looks like his clone.
It's incredibly hard to be around when you're feeling upset or even worse, when he's upset.
I just want to eat him up, he's like butterscotch candy mixed with eyes constantly on the verge of tears and Christmas dinner all rolled into one.
It doesn't help matters when he's exactly the same personality too but it's definitely the reason I love him to bits and can't stay mad at him for longer than half a minute.
Bloody sod knows it too 😆
Nawww that is sweet 🥰
Weird that the Valiant has a Death Star beam. Many small beams converging into one.
It just BREAKS MY HEART now every time I see Wilf, knowing that Bernard is no longer with us!!! 😢
Certainly not all the Sontarans are dead, that was just one ship.
This is one of my favourite stories. I always enjoy watching it, and seeing people react to it. There are some who don't like it, but I don't understand why. I think it's a very fun story, with some great moments and themes throughout. The person who wrote this was Helen Raynor, who also wrote the Daleks in Manhattan two part story back in series 3. But I definitely prefer this story to that one.
This season is so good.
It issssss! I love it!!
Wilf & Donna
The man he asked are you my mummy as a call back was also in that episode with the other doctor he was the one that captain jack flirted with lol
Yes, I know 😸
@@julesreacts looking forward to your next reaction.
I think you are confusing actors. Rupert Holliday-Evans has only appeared in The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky. You may be thinking of Robert Hands?
Awesome video as always! cannot wait for the next one
Thank you!!
The Tenant era just knocked it for 6 time after time!
The Sontarans are not that easy to get rid of. They are clones and that was just 1 Battle Group.
Hey there, Jules!💜
In answer - 2:35 - Absolutely - great catch! He's being almost over the top when speaking to her here.
3:01 What?!? Yes, you did.😊
Whilst his supposed minions all reject him it seems that doesn't happen with megalomaniacs often enough, any more.🤭
I too feel sorry for Luke here, but only a very little bit.
9:32 - one of the moments I was waiting to see you see in this one. It was even better than I imagined!🤣🥰
12:30 One of Donna's strengths - Hilariously angry, even when she's overjoyed. She is pretty great - sort of gratingly great!😂
15:53 - the other waiting to see you see scene here. Wilfred steals the show, once again - He and Donna have very touching scenes🥲😍
I think Donna's mother loves her family, despite her harshness toward them both. She wants what she imagines to be "right" for Donna, maybe a correction for some opportunity in her own life, and she is the one who grabbed the ax, saving her father, whilst everyone else was too focused on a smart solution. She's still irritating, but I think she does care.
16:28 - Okay, now - Everybody say"What?!?"😝
17:38 One minor correction... new companion, old companion - easily forgotten, since you see so many things and only the newer Doctors - Rose and Sarah Jane Smith, although, technically, they didn't travel together.🤭
A good conclusion to this 2-parter. The Sontarans are permanently aggressive, and allow nothing to stand in the way of total and absolute success and domination. Which is why I am always a bit disappointed in how, in the end it seems, you can fight the Sontarans. They certainly went down pretty easily at the factory, but the episode had to end sometime, before it became a 3-parter! I enjoyed this one, though.
Well Jules,💜🤗💜 a great episode, and a well presented, cut down version once again. Well done. I hope you have a marvelous Thursday, in progress, and I wish you absolutely No Spoilers. Have a beautiful day!👋
Yes, let's definitely wish for no spoilers today.

I love how much you loved this one!! I watched it a few weeks back now, when I had my still unknown illness, and really wasn't feeling the best that day, but I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as you did!
SO many good moments in this one, and reading your thoughts and checking out your timestamps has just left me smiling. Thank you, Tom. I appreciate you so much, you little tilted-hat, lamppost-leaner you 🥰
I hope you've managed to have a decently good day over there. Mine has been okay, with a car service and an emergency trip to the hardware store as I kind of broke the wardrobe rail last night, where my tops hang... It has been sagging for a few weeks (well, months) and it was the straw the broke the camels back, I think 🤣 SO now, I'm just thinking I can pile the clothes on even more when it's repaired as it will be stronger. YES!!!
Thank you, Tom. And yes, we don't want any spoilers 🤣💜
Martha's fiancee is the same guy who helped her in the season 3 finale, during the year when The Master had conquered the Earth.

TARDIS kidnap Martha Jones
Great job.
So... things were weird here, the ducklings and the goats were both behaving. They sat quietly and watched. It was oddly nice . I'm worried now. They must be up to something.
Hope you have a wonderful day.
If they are behaving and quiet, something DEFINITELY is up.... You are right to be nervous 🤔 I am too, I will admit!!
Thank you, Cat! have a wonderful day yourself 😸💜
I have looked forward to this for so long 😁 love your DW reactions
Yay! Thank you so much! Have an awesome day!
The next episode is one of my favorites, especially because season 4 is my favorite season so 😊
One plothole i always find weird is when the doctor burns the gas away, wouldn't stuff like planes, helicopters, birds, tall buildings etc or basically anything in the sky burn aswell? I mean even you assumed that flag should've burned but it didn't lol 🤷♂️
I really feel bad for Luke at the end. He sacrifices himself, and gets no recognition for doing so. He was just a kid at the end of the day who got manipulated by the Sontarans. He wanted validation from others. The Sontarans played on this desire to their own advantage.
Highlight of my week
Awww thank you 💜
Why do they let the Doctor talk? He did the coded message bit before this before with the Cybermen, you'd think someone would have figured it out by now. In short, bad guys are thick. Thick thickety thick face from Thicktown, Thickania.
You are on the Donna, Wilf love train - welcome aboard! :)
I adore them. All aboard 🥰
Such a SONTA-HA! episode.
The sontarans are just in the same category of evil as the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels and the Master.
Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart who the Doctor mentions that's stranded in Peru is an important character.
I'm not sure the Weeping Angels are actually evil. They are predators, yes, but I wouldn't say evil. For the rest, we shall see.
Donna was originally meant to use a shoe to knock out the Sontarans but because Catherine Tate only wears trainers they didn't want it to be a trainer, or they thought a trainer would be too soft and just bounce off the back of the neck. She got to use a mallet instead.
Although Donna used a mallet rather than her trainer to whack the Sontaran on the back of the neck, it wasn't brought on for that purpose only. In fact, the Mallet has been standard equipment ever since Edward Thomas redesigned the TARDIS interior for the new series.
Good luck not getting attached to Wilf! The magnificent Bernard Cribbins always delivers.
I ADORE HIM 💜
This is a fantastic conclusion to a great two-parter. The Sontarans are treated with respect as a legitimate threat (unfortunately they've been treated as a joke at times), yet their defeat makes perfect sense.
I'm glad to see you falling in love with Wilf, you can see why he was embraced as the fandom's granddad. May he rest in peace. Unfortunately Sylvia isn't easy to like and it's pretty clear that she's the cause of Donna's insecurities. That's why it's so beautiful to see the Doctor build her up and help her realise that she's brilliant.
What about that cliffhanger, eh? I can't wait to see what this terrific trio get up to together.
Thanks for another great reaction, Jules!
Wilf may as well just move in here and be my adopted granddad at this point 🤣 I love him!!
The TARDIS is not quite done with Martha, so it's off on another adventure we go.
Have a wonderful weekend, Ashley 💜
It's as if the show runners lacked faith in Donna as a companion to the point they hedged their bets continually by adding more companions and by doing so accidentally created the most epic season in all of Doctor Who.
Have you made the video slightly slower? Or is it just my headphones being weird?
Not slower! Give it a refresh, it might fix itself.
Wait. Is Rattigan, Ryan Sampson? AKA Grumio?
It is!
@@SadBnnuy Right, that's it. I'm going to Patreon and telling King Boomer.
He's a really good actor - great in this, Plebs, and Up the Women, with three very diferent roles.
Wilf is the greatest for sure, but I'll always have a soft spot for Jackie.
Awww I miss Jackie!!
I love the whole noble family. Sylvia Included...
Plus anyone who comes along, In the far future...
Sontar ha
Grab your tissues because you are going to need them from there on out. Especially if Wilf is involved.
Thank you. Wonderful reaction as usual. It gets better. Recipe for happiness: Cats + Wilf.
Aww thank you, Alexander! I'm so glad you enjoyed 💜
Donna and Wilfred
LOVE THEM!
whats "mend a fuse" mean? probably change a fuse...
great episode coming next.
It's a holdover expression from the days when you actually had to pop the (bulky) fuse out of the main fuse box, shake out the useless ends of the melted wire, wrap fresh wire around and between the terminals, and slot it back into place. Those main fuses eventually got replaced by resettable circuit-breakers... But by then the phrase "mend a fuse" had become interchangeable with "replace a fuse" (i.e. usually the one inside the mains plug of an appliance) in everyday speech.
Sontarans aren’t really evil. They are all clones breed for warfare purposes.
Love your reaction to this episode.
Aww thank you! I was a bit sick at the time so wasn't feeling all that great, so I appreciate that 💜
@@julesreacts I hope that you are feeling much better. I know what you mean about Wilf and Donna. Wilf does gives that feeling of a loving family.
Thank you!! I am so much better now, I was coughing for a month and was really over it 😖
ah this is a good episode
Gotdamn you Wilf, I love you. He is pure hope and optimism and I swear everyone needs that one person in their life.
I totally agree 🥰
