- Normally when filming owner's spotlights, I want to try and have the day set aside to make sure we have more than ample time to get all the footage necessary. I had explained this to Yajima-San, the owner of this bat s*** insane Rolls and he agreed that would be best. So you can imagine my surprise when my phone rings and its Yajima-San asking if we could get everything done that same day he calls and in everything done in 2 hours. The car was going back into the shop and there was no telling how long it would be in there. Thus, I grabbed all my things, ran out the door without any planning for a smash and dash type of day.
With all my excuses out of the way, sit back, relax, and join me as we quickly dive into Yajima's mind, and discover a little bit more behind his 2JZ powered Rolls Royce!

Why the fuck can't there be more awesome, totally unique builds like this?
It's so reserved in low RPMs, but as soon as you pop her down, she sounds like a series of cogs and gears. This is one of the coolest fucking builds I have ever seen.
On top of that, this man is someone I could possibly get along with really well. He also has my favorite car, and really understands things from a perspective of more than himself. He carries himself in a way that knows he wants to do something that leaves his mark on this world, all for the better.
This man has truly won my respect.

I admire his passion for cars and I think this is a really cool project. Personally I would have gone for a larger engine for more torque and a bit less noise to retain the RR's class. But I guess this is why we have amazing people like this guy to push the boundaries of what is 'conventional'.

Every time I’m in Japan I go to every car meet I can think of in hopes of meeting Yajima-San. His car is definitely one of a kind and he seems like such a nice guy. One day it’ll happen hopefully.
He really is a nice guy. I think I may have bumped into him one other time after the shoot at Daikokufuto but the Rolls was in the shop. God knows what's going on with it now haha

While this video over here got quite a lot of positive attention, it was shared on Facebook via the CarMemes page and the reactions over there were mostly negative.
There are comments like "YOU RUINED A ROLLS ROYCE" or "SWAPPING OUT A BEAUTIFUL V12 FOR A 2JZ IS SACRELIGIOUS".
They call themselves "car guys" but they think that other people's world revolve around them. Probably the type of people who think that cars should be kept in a garage at all times. Not surprising though since it's Facebook where people follow rubbish pages like Buzzfeed or bullshit life hack pages.
Germaine Liew haha you can tell that the audience that follows Tokyo Tuner director tends to have a more open mind about things. The memes don't tell the entire story correctly nor do people come to watch the entire video to hear the full story. Basically, you will never please everyone and a fool for trying. I'm happy people both like and dislike it (the joys of opinions) but the bigger Joy is when people can agree to disagree and enjoy it for what it is ^^

Well a new engine from the factory cost as much as a car. So yea you swap a RB or 1/2JZ in japan because they are bulletproof engine. And to still have a fully working drivable daily is mind blowing. And he wants another Rolls Royce for a drift build. NANI?! O.o
If i ever pick up a cheap AMG Merc without an engine. I know i am going to put a RB, 2JZ into it. Because why not.

A phantom is supposed to be a smooth and quiet ride. This looks and sounds like they ruined that. I guess he is OK with it so to each their own, but to me that doesn't seem like a good idea. The original V12 broke, so he had to put something in. What an odd choice though. It may have ~700 HP, but how much torque? Torque is what a heavy car needs more of.
2jz is torque engine itself but the noise.... Boy oh boy they would be shock when they hear it.
