    The fact that he uses his own healing experience to help others who are going through the same thing is incredible. An attack like that is life changing and very traumatic, and knowing what to expect and how to process through it all probably helps these people out on their healing journey exponentially!!! Also knowing they're not alone in this experience too. What an awesome human being he is. ♡♡♡

    Following the fresh tracks of a bear meant the predator could be close by and definitely not happy with the intrusion. That he was surprised betrayed the lack of anticipation.
    In the short clip (with a link to this video) the narrator said Wes hesitated --- to fire at the bear? I don't blame him but it's important to develop the proper reaction in this type of situation to be able to fire the weapon without hesitation.

    • @Gr8tBlueHeron
      @Gr8tBlueHeron Год назад +5

      By his own account he didn't hesitate - he straight up didn't have time to react. He says the moment he say the bear he had enough time to say "oh shit" while he got his gun half slung off his shoulder. A bear can cover 70 feet in just a few bounds, as fast a racehorse exploding out of the gate.
      He also states they saw the bear up ahead and wee following its tracks. They thought it was ahead of them but the bear doubled back (common with predators and even deer will do this).
      There is a saying among bear hunters: "some days you eat the bear, some day the bear eats you."

    The amazing thing about bears is they can live a long time at an unusually low heart rate. This is what they do during hibernation and their body can take a lot of bullets and they just keep coming. You have to hit them with a kill shot is you are in close proximity and even then it’s a dangerous situation.

But I am against hunting wildlife, it’s horrific for these animals to be hunted down as well and maybe you’ll realize that after what you experienced! I’m sure they were well aware of the risks, not everyone wants to live a sheltered life indoors. I’m also not sure how you came to the conclusion that they were tracking and harassing it? But by all means go ahead and condemn humanity lmao, bless your heart.

    I am okay if there is a point of the hunt, but what was the point here? Saw a bear and let's kill it because the law allows it? Or do they eat the bear? Or make a jacket out of it, or a rug? If they hunted just to be outside and feel the ancient excitement, adrenalin from the hunt, I guess it's also okay in some way, since he is not complaining about the consequences appearantly, he just likes to hunt, even if his face was ripped off once already. Maybe it's just me but I can't help but think that if he wasn't hunting down that bear in the first place the whole mauling situation would never have happened. They were following it with the intention of killing it. The bear did what bears do and it attacked them because humans are food and a potential threat. This is the risk you take when hunting such dangerous animals. You are in their world and the tables could turn at any moment with such catastrophic consequences. You reap what you sow. I would have thought that such a horrific event would put him off hunting but when he got better he was straight back out there killing bears again and that just doesn't sit right with me. I just don't get it. You won't get that lucky twice. It's so messed up that people can hunt bears and kill them but if a bear retaliates and attacks a human then the bear gets tracked down eventually and killed for having the audacity to kill a human so the bear loses either way and that just isn't right at all. I know loads of Americans will say all that crap about hunting being their god given right which is just super depressing.

    What I'm about to say may sound negative but it's not meant to be. Has it ever occurred to sport hunters that your fate to be mauled or killed or hunted by a bear is simply nature letting know killing animals for sport is not a natural thing. Animals hunting each other or a human fighting a bear by hand is natural. Using a bow or rifle is not conducive to nature. I'm sorry for your fate but nature won this time and I say yay for nature.
