Picked this up at Sportsman's Guide on black Friday for $303 shipped (with buyers club) for 1k rounds.
I’m always blown away with the jump between 7.5” and 10.5”. As I always tell the wife, “3 inches is a lot!”
OMG, LOL!!
That’s funny. Being for real, though, you are very right. 4-5 hundred feet per second difference is definitely worth that extra barrel length IMO. I highly doubt it’ll mess you maneuverability that much.
Used this for a class, no malfunction. Worked great!
Good data !!
Thank you for publishing this data! It's absolutely in-line with what I've experienced with this ammo as well.
*(I'll skip jokes about X2 DevGroup CH adding 10fps, and get straight to facts:)
(1) I noted Igman 223 comes packaged *very* well. 1k round case comes in 5 hermetically sealed plastic bags, of 10 boxes, of 20 rounds each. Boxes have VERY nice printing. This stuff will store very very well long-term. Fits well in a 50cal can.
(2) Accuracy was about what you saw here, but my rifles differ. *Relative* to other ammo like Norma Red Box RUAG, not as good accuracy (back to back). But it went bang every time out of a M249S and seemed clean-ish.
(3) Between this and ZSR, I've read some dubious anecdotal reports about ZSR ammo. (ZSR 7.62x39 non-corrosive being 'accidentally' corrosive primer, kaboom FAL with 7.62x51, M80 4-5moa/low-pressure and inconsistent for some/fine for others.) My metric for rounds also includes "will they take responsibility if a bad round blows up my gun". Not sure who wins this. (Norma/Winchester/Hornady sort-of have to, since they are based here in US.)
(4) As of this post date, I was able to find Norma 55gr Red Box RUAG (German made/not-US-recall) for around 41.6cpr shipped; cheaper than most are selling the Igman. So I ended up listening to your "errata" at the end of the Global Ordinance PPU M193 video about "Norma/Ruag" same-day test and went with that for my precision ball needs. (Norma M193 Tactical has been quite accurate, relative to Igman in same rifle.)
Final note: the POF AR15 boltcatch matches very well with the CMMG ambi mag release aesthetically, for your Snek lower.
As thanks for your great engagement to my questions, and this video, and everything else -- I'll kick enough for you to get one. :)
Thank you for this info ! I have not reviewed the ZSR 7.62 NATO yet, but it sounds like I should be careful!
I got some to try it out. Price was good and it functions 100% so far. Groups seemed decent
At this point, anything is SHTF ammo but good video
Just had 1K rounds of this arrive today, so great timing on this video! I think it’s good training and range ammo and it’s quality for the price, especially what I paid for it. I would buy it again without question, it would be cool to see this compared to their “ 5.56 x 45” round which is I bet around the same velocity.
@@davidjob4909 I paid 340 with shipping and insurance.

For me most .223 besides the bonded cores- Federal Fusion and the like- are just range ammo.. but thank you for the test!
Agreed. Any 55gr FMJ that is sub 3000fps out of a 16" barrel is range ammo for me.
Love your attention to detail my man. About to order some of this ammo for my shop.
My pleasure. Thank you for taking the time to watch !
@@BuffRANGE we talked on Reddit a while ago. The amount of times I cite your channel for info is insane. Keep up the awesome work hoss
Appreciate the test, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
I have alot of this ammo and I love it
Wo nderfull evaluation-- highlights that 5.56 was developed for & excels from a 20in bbl. Thanks for all you do------
Not always, 20 inch ars is fudd lore
@@chanoleyva4208 thing is, you need certain ammo for that 12.5...... 64 gr SP etc. A 20" barrel makes duty ammo of m193
@@NoNo_IStay uh not really m193 will still do 3000fps out of a 12.5 chrono Ed it myself. 20 inch barrels are dated especially with modern ammo were you can get the same performance in a shorter package. Do some research
Good video! I like your testing
Thank you!
Have a case of igman 223 and some change. Gone through over half of it and it seems like a fine ammunition. Can't say how it compares to other quality brass in detail, but its comparable and haven't had any issues. Then again the only real ammo I have issues with is steel Tula predominantly.
Rocko's Modern Life 😂
My only complaint is the brass can't be reloaded, the flash holes are too small and many are off center. I Broke several depriming pins figuring this out. I had no problems with function, about a 2-2.5 inch group depending on rifle, and I love how small the 20 round boxes are. Too bad the brass has to go to the recycler.
Thank you for the info!
I was immediately suspicious of this ammo when I seen the red sealant/die that's around the primer. I learned my lesson the first time several years ago when a guy at a gun show talked me into buying his used 5.56 brass. I bought a 1000 cases and immediately found out why you don't buy brass that has that red signature around the primer .... broke my decapping pin on my Redding press and then I used a bore-scope to look down to the bottom of the brass and seen there were 3 SMALL holes and no center hole for the pin to press through! Pizz me off, right!
So I ended up melting down those 1000 cases along with a bunch of 22 cases and turned it in for scrap value
i have a bunch of this stuff and its still good.
Got a great deal on this from SG Ammo a while back. Nice range ammo, the Hellion eats it up. Thanks for another great video.
My pleasure !
It's cheaper on sportsmans
@@bigchomnk2934 not sure what current prices look like but when I purchased sportsman’s was nearly double.

Why do I want to hear about a 22" bolt gun? "Come on man!" 16" gas gun is what most of us are here for!
My 22” bolt gun is the armor slayer ;)
And that's why I never got a 7.5 inch 5.56 upper 10.5 is as short as I'll go . 500fps gain in 3 inches
Even 10.5 is kind of dumb when 11.5 and 12.5 are available.
12.5, 12.7 makes the most sense for an all around light weight outside of a special purpose build.
I love your videos and the info you provide us with, could try and do a video on the armscore m193 rounds? you did the pmc m193 but i cant find info on the armscore as those are the 2 cheapest m193 rounds to buy right now.
What if I told you it’s done and I just need to edit it.
@@BuffRANGE dang your on top of it!
You should do a review of seismic ammo 9mm, I've done a review of it and a hunting video with it but I'd love to see you do a super in-depth review like you always do
I've tried to contact them in the past. I'm often gatekept in the firearms industry. Likely because I'm not flashy enough for most marketing departments.
@@BuffRANGE yeah they're not going to send out ammo. My review of their stuff is one of the highest viewed on RUclips and I couldn't even get them to respond to my email. Shame because it's really good ammo, would probably be a lot more popular if they had more publicity.
@@PracticalTacticalSheepDog That's a shame. New tech/outside the norm needs eyes on it at times to gain traction, and you'd think they'd be more than willing. What bothers me the most is when company's don't reply. Even if they aren't interested, just take the 15 seconds to say "Sorry we can't help you, or provide you with answers needed, etc".
RELOADERS BEWARE I picked up some of this to reload and found flash holes are not centered and undersized. Its a no go for reloading.
I would buy this for range practice
If Velocity is your game, get into 22-250. I've chronod some 55 grain fmjs at 3800 fps out of a 22" barrel. The primers and brass were starting to show high pressure signs around that point, though.
I used to use 50 grain soft points for coyotes and fox, loaded to around 4100 fps in a 26" bolt action. I tried going faster, but the bullets were grenading mid air.
22-250 places us into an AR10 platform and is ultimately limited to slower twist rates off the shelf.
@@BuffRANGE yeah, that twist rate issue has been my biggest beef with them. The fastest off the shelf upper I've found came from Bear Creek at 1-14. Before I opted to build out a 243 upper, I'd considered having a custom 22-250 barrel turned in a 1-8 or 1-9 twist.
1-14 may not be terrible if it's light weight, high velocity you're aiming for, but the barrel I'd looked at having turned would have come from X-Caliber, and I know very little about their products, and in 24", wouldnt have come threaded. Not a deal breaker, had I known more about the manufacturer. The barrel would have been a 1-8 5R Twist, 24" rifle length gas in 4150, and I'd have probably either phosphated it myself, or had it cerakoted.
I have noticed in my 308 with a 1-10 twist that it tends to stabilize lighter weight bullets better the faster theyre pushed, but they weren't accurate enough for my liking. I'd liked to have been able to swap between light weight 110 grain rounds for speed, and the mock-118LR I'm hand loading with AlcoBullets' 175 grain projectile over BLC2 powder. Alas, it just wasn't in the cards.
I'm still a fan of the 22-250, though. And the Underwood 38 grainers are absolutely devastating on varmints. Solid copper projectiles moving at 4200 fps... 😬🥵
Her-zo-go-vin-e-uh
Both. Get rid of the green tip. Better use on range.
Bushmaster made a 26" hbar ar15 barrel
I don't think you have a counterfeit TRS-25. I've had several over the years and that's just how all of them have been in my experience. Even on setting 11 the dot would wash out on brighter days. By all other accounts they're a decent little dot but that brightness issue is why I don't use them anymore.
If you're looking for something better in that price range, the Sig Romeo MSR red dots typically go for under $100 and are much brighter than the TRS-25. Or for a few dollars more you can get a Sig Romeo 5, which is the best red dot under $150 from what I've seen.
Agreed on the Romeo 5. Either the R5 or the Primary Arms equivalent have been serving me well!
I have the white letter version and it doesn't wash out. Go figure, they'll replace it under warranty.
Igman also makes a 5.56 m195 load

@@BuffRANGE ouch, those are some low numbers, but expected I guess for .223. My buddy has some of the 5.56 M193 version, wasn’t able to chrono it that day but it had similar POI at 400 yards as Winchester M193. Would be curious how much faster the M193 is than this.
@@JGoodZX6R I just ordered 5 boxes. Took a chunk of My Patreon $$ for the month, but if I can help my viewers find out if their M193 is M193 then so be it!
16 inch is the best 👌
Her-tso-go-veena. Easier to say than it looks.
That country still exists? South East Europe has been a mess since the 90s
@@mghegotagun it exists as a result of the NATO-instigated chaos that tore Yugoslavia apart in the 90s and the peace accords/border re-drawings that eventually concluded it. Herzogovina is the predominantly ethnic Serbian (Bosnian Serb) and ethnic Croatian (Bosnian Croat) region of the country, while Bosnia is the predominantly Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) region. Both major ethnicities have some degree of local autonomy in their respective regions and share power with each other on the federal level of Bosnia-Herzegovina. It is a delicate balance of power intended to keep the peace, allow for a basic level of local self-determination for each ethnic group, and maintain broader regional stability.
Bro it's insane how much 3 inches increase velocity. 10.5 really isn't that bad for most self defense applications.
22 mag isn't my first choice
I want that no step on snek lower!
They should do another run of them!
@@BuffRANGE I’ve been on the email list for a year. Fingers crossed
What about igman 7.62x39 any experience?
Yeah, I thought about a 22 Creed, but by the time you finish working up a few loads it'll be time to change the barrel out. Those suckers burn barrels FAST!
CHF 223/5.56 bolt guns for me. I'll never burn those babies out.
Do they have a short barrel life?
@@BuffRANGE oh yeah. Accuracy is only in the thousands of rounds. It's shorter than a 22-250
@@calangel I suppose me armor testing wouldn’t wear one out though.
@@BuffRANGE probably not 😅 the barrel, I mean. The armor is definitely getting worn out

Looks like junk to me, them were not functioning your rifle & you blamed it on lack of oil, bullshit. you could see the velocity was not there as the barrel got longer. Under-powered. Tula would be better.
All of the ammo functioned fine in the guns. because I'm left handed, when I operate the bolt It tends to drag in the receiver, and that's what I meant by oiling it.
This ammo isn’t corrosive is if?
no, it should not be.
@@BuffRANGE Thanks. You can usually tell by an ammonia smell correct? Thanks for the quick reply too. Love your armor testing videos you got some cool stuff.👍
@@barrymacockiner8606 sometimes the only sure fire way to test is using a nail and water test. Where you pull a round and fire the primer over a nail that’s in a board. Generally speaking only Russian ammo has been notorious for randomly giving corrosive primers even today. I would say with brass case were probably 99% safe. Thank you for the kind words!
This stuff ran like shit out of my 16 inch IWI ZION. could get groups under 4 inches, and flyers every 6 rounds. Absolute garbage will never buy again even at 350 for 1000 rounds.
