- For those of us looking for a suitable, inexpensive 7.62x39 round, the supply is dwindling as our Russian imports slowly dry up. I found this igman ammo on the shelves the other day and we will take it out and range test it to see how well it performs. Forgot to mention that it is non-corrosive, too.

Quick heads up, this ammo is non-corrosive and boxer primed.
@travisp11 -There's Venom from Turkey & sometimes Mesko (Poland). Both brass/boxer/non-corrosive. Venom is the more expensive. No experience with them but I had never heard of Igman until I was in a Rural King in late 2021. 308 Winchester 20 rd box was $10. They were out of packaging & in a white box. I should have bought the whole display. And I don't even own a 308-yet.
Bosnian ammo is some of the best in the world.
100%
Igman ammo is very good. The 9mm they make in my opinion is some of the best on the market
I need to try some!
A long time ago when I first got my AK was getting Wolf for like .10 a round.... God I miss that ☹️
I agree
Yup, one Benjamin used to get a guy a case. Wish I seen the writing on the wall then. Got a range buddy older gent that has over 30k rounds of wolf in 7.62x39 and half as much in 223. He was stocking up then. We got together for a lead melting session and my jaw dropped when he opened his ammo storage room.
They’re a good company. A little dirtier than high end brass ammo but so much better than Tula.
Sounds like a decent middle of the road offering.
Is Tula generally frowned upon? Cuz I just got some for 0.37¢ a round and I've only been looking for the cheapest I can find.
@@ekzoskelitN there’s nothing wrong with it. You just need to clean more often but that in itself is like meditation. However, you might find some non-Tula options in that price range too and look for deals on ammo seek with free shipping etc. These companies are now trying to move the stock and either offering free storage containers or free shipping to sweeten the deal.
@@ekzoskelitN It will work. It is very accurate in my Ruger American bolt action rifle and I´ve only had 1 round of Tula ever cause an issue in one of my ARs many years ago. It sets a standard for cheap ammo.
I got a bunch of that stuff in .223 works great 👍
Right on!
Igman shoots the best out of my KUSA-103 suppressed. Ridiculously accurate
Good to know!
Interesting, Thats pretty good looking ammo. The range test will be interesting. I have been able to find maxtech essential ammo around me. Steel cased and 7.99 for 20rnds. It is also eastern European manufactured. It's been good stuff for me. Can be found online too.
I will keep my eyes open for that Maxtech. I got a feeling we are going to see some new brands or smaller brands really start to take off and fill that Russian ammo void.
@@travisp11 same here. I think some of the companies will step up and offer cheaper steel cased as well. Like the Hornady steel cased stuff.
I’ve used this brand in 223 no problems
This is good to know!
Yeah, I shot around 200 rounds of Igman through my 5.56 PSA lower and BCA upper build.
@@Mavvyd96 seems to be decent ammo.
Igman #1 :)
It is a great ammo!
Thanks!
You are welcome!
Just bought ten boxes of this today.
I saw that my local Scheels just got it back in.
Luv the Nebraska CH camo hat !! GO BIG RED !! I don't reload 7.62x39mm ammo, not worth it, but I save the brass casings anyway !! I do reload 8mm Mauser, I'm crazy for it, I got 1 Cow Elk Legally with a Yugo Mauser 8mm - no scope, just iron sights, about 200 yards or so in CO. !!
Thanks for the support! Yup, that x39 brass does have some value to it! 8mm Mauser is a sweet cartridge too!
@@travisp11 I hope to tag a Bull elk 2023, with the same Yugo Mauser, using Hornady Vintage Match 196 gr. & same deal, iron sights !! I use a range finder in Meters, then tag it with the iron sights approximately the same distance !! but I also love just blasting off rounds & plinking with my WASR-10 ! it's a lot of fun, I just bought a bulk of Igman 7.62x39 for my "commie Tommy" WASR-10 LoL 😅. it fun.. 🔥🔥🔥
A lot of folks buy it simply to resize it to 6.5 Grendel.
I use both. I bought 80 boxes/1600rds of Norma Tactical 7.62x39 this week at $.48/rd. Whether it's useful or not, it's less than steel case around here right now
Norma makes some great x39 ammo! I tested it on my channel and it ran well.
Worth it to handload 7.62 for hunting loads, way cheaper to load 223 to plink, imo
This is true.
Thanks for the review. Just bought some .308 at a gun show for a reasonable price.
Cool! That is one caliber that I definitely need to stock up with
I do reload 7.62x39, but only subsonic loads using the Lapua's D166 200 grain .310" bullet. If you are lucky enough to find a factory round your barrel likes, then reloading supers just does not make sense when looking at the cost versus buying factory.
I agree.
Found this stuff in late winter 2022 and it was cheaper than Tula steel case.
It ran well in my range tests through my Ruger Ranch bolt action rifle. Dont forget though, the boxes are only 15 rounds.
@@travisp11 I found a 60 round box that was nearly $10 cheaper than 3 of the 20 round boxes of Tula. Steel case getting a little price gouged at this point.
@@josefabdon I agree about steel case ammo prices. I’m glad you could find a good deal on the Igman!
I just ordered a 720 rd case for $302 shipped. Looking forward to testing it.
It’s pretty good!
@@travisp11 It just came in today. Now to get a clear day to head to the range. And my club DOES have a brass net, but the entire firing line is on a slab.
@@maineiacoutdoors689 are you using a bolt action rifle?
@@travisp11 For now, just my Windham AR. Would love to find a bolty tho......AND have the cash for it.
@@maineiacoutdoors689 I think I Just picked up that same deal from Velocity Ammunition?? Any new insight? I'm using on my galil
2550 ft/ sec is a healthy speed 🇦🇺👍
I agree!
Is this bi metal? Looking for something non magnetic for the range
I believe it is lead core but you may need to check the igman website.
Awesome! Do they make 7.62-54r? Just curious, good video brother!
I didn’t look up their other calibers but with what I saw in the factory tour video I wouldn’t be surprised. I will see if I can find their online catalog.
@@travisp11 was just wondering, no big deal.
@@patinabunker5340 No problem. As a Mosin owner I am curious myself. I can get Wolf x54r locally at $16.99 per box but if I can get brass for the same price I will.
U can visit their website to check on details.
@@goldzen3019 I will do that.
PPU makes it I have some works great don't remember the price
Great Foot Work On Ammo 👍🤠
Gonna keep looking. They have Fiocchi for $18 for 20, which I believe is made in Arkansas or Missouri at the Fiocchi plant.
8$ a box at my local bimart
Still a little expensive for 7.62x39
Yup, especially compared to what we were paying.
You can find belom brass cased 20 rounds for about 14 bucks
That is a pretty good price. Do you know if they are boxer or berdan primed? I know the vast majority of x39 buyers won't really care but I am curious.
@@travisp11 I don’t know what kind of primer they use I haven’t actually bought any of it yet I’m sitting on several thousand rounds of golden tiger myself
@@Scott079 cool!
@@travisp11 Boxer
@@williamryan9195 ok!
Did a few videos on Igman
I will definitely check them out!
99% same like yugo m67 same factory
This is good to know.
@@travisp11 m67 was made in 3 factorys in ex Yugoslavia one of them is this factory in Bosnia
But m67 original came from same factory igman
acurracy test or range test video?
I did an accuracy test on my channel with this ammo. I guess accuracy and range test are about the same thing, the idea is to analyze how accurate the ammo is and how well it performs.
So, did you ever pull a projectile, and check the diameter yourself?
I didn’t
Dumb question, but do the bans affect imports from other non-Russian companies like PPU and Sellier and Bellot? Last time I checked it only affects Russian ammo, but I could be wrong
It only affects Russian manufacture ammo. Technically it is a policy of non renewal for the importers of Russian ammo. Once their import permits expire they won't be approved to import Russian ammo unless the admin at that time reverses their decision.
Dumb question: Is this corrosive?
No.
