Nice ride. The last time I rode in snow was when I was a kid delivering newspapers on my BMX bike. Honestly, I'd rather ride in snow than rain. Rain is so much more messy.
It's my first time riding in the snow like this,.Couldn't do it without the studded tires, makes the snow feel like gravel. Still haven't rode on frozen ice and hardtack since the temperatures have been above average the last couple of weeks. it's -7 today with about 6 inches of snow overnight so I might go out today depending on how fast the city is able to clear the streets. Thanks for stopping in. Cheers!
Great videos Ritchie! I have been wanting to convert my Kona Big Honzo but not sure what size battery will fit?? What size shark pack did you install on your bike, Our bikes look similar in size. Thanks Donny
I had to use the smaller 13 a/h one and that barely fit. I have a 1400km review video that shows how tight it was and how I used zap straps to secure it. Thanks for watching. 😄
Hi Ritchie, how do you do to protect your battery from the cold? In the video you mention it is -10 and I understand that any battery will suffer permanent damage after -5 or so.
Hi. I went as low as -15 C without any trouble a couple of times to commute to work and back, mind you the battery was room temp when I start so I think the usage keeps the cells warm since I only lose about 20% capacity. It’s not as much as I expected. My toes freezing are the limiting factor for temperature. 😂
I bought my ebike a day ago. Will commute in snow to work until -20 I guess. I ordered a battery protector as well! Will see. :) and a tons of good things too for savemyself
How are you doing this? What wheels do you have on? I have a hub drive ebike with 27.5x2.3 continental tubeless mtb tires and the 1st and last time I did this, i wasnt even 1km away from my house, my bike spun, slammed on my side and had a massive bruise on my leg. Walked back to my house and just took the suv to work.
Respect your commute. Have fun and stay safe!

Nice ride
Where I live, nobody shovels the snow on the sidewalks.
As I have found better to be on crunchy snow than glare ice.. You’re on the right path.
Sweet

The Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro studded tires make it possible. It’s remarkable how good they are on ice and hard pack. I wouldn’t ride without them.
How’s the rolling resistance? I will use these this season. Last to I had Schwalbe Winter, and found them lacking. I need more studs!
I’m riding a Deepower HH26. What is your steed?
That's an older Rockhopper with a Bafang BBS02. A really nice combo that handles great.
