What does it actually cost to buy and own a DHC-2 Beaver ? In this short video we break down the DH-2 Beaver Cost of Ownership and let you know exactly what your get for your money. And how much of your money it will take.
In addition to annual costs, we cover the cost per hour and cost per mile to operate. We also cover key performance stats so you know what you're paying for.
Costs of airplane ownership vary widely from owner to owner. This video takes an average of the various expenses from existing owners and boils them down to simple to digest numbers. Your ownership experiences will be unique. Авто/Мото
"Everyonce in a while you will get a repair bill that questions why you owned this in the first place" should be the national motto for owning an airplane.
Same thing goes for nice boats and german cars
@@pistonburner6448 I can agree wholeheartedly with the fake engine sounds thing. It’s pathetic.
This! jajajajajajajajajaja
I'd say that for a C150 ...
@@temo13ñ?
I like the longer intro on these latest videos. More aviation history is never a bad thing 😊
I hope this comment reaches the top.
I fully agree
Much appreciate you adding "hourly" and "yearly" to the costs for clarity
Is the hourly Hobbs or tach?
Your voice-overs are my favorite of any set of videos anywhere. The balance to humor, inflection, cadence. You're awesome, keep that shit up! :)
Thanks!
I’ve always wanted to know the cost of running a DC3, I’m sure the numbers today are completely different than when it started in 1935 but you still see operators around the world using them commercially, not to mention the gaggle that show up at Oshkosh and other air shows.
Well they are one of the oldest planes there's still a lot of. Probably worth looking up for that alone.
Got a big family, eh?
I have never flown outside of passenger airplanes and have no intention of ever buying a plane...
...And yet, I can't help but watch each of these videos as they come out. I'm not sure what exactly you're doing, but keep up the good work!
I love how everything was phrased to make it sound as though these beavers were actual living and sentient beavers
Wait. They're not?
🦫
I remember a reddit comment from a beaver pilot in Alaska.
This beaver was flying before I was born and it will likely will be flying after I'm gone. They are built like Toyotas and treated like royalty
One of my favorite bush planes to ever exist. Keep up the great work!
My first experience with a Beaver was in 1974, flying into Trutch Island. Damn near 50 years later, and the same plane is probably still in the neighborhood. I wonder if John is still flying it :P
Just found this channel and love the format: short, funny, but super informative
Dang this video came fast. I particularly loved the yearly costs which crushed my dreams of ever owning one! Just grateful to have flown in them a few times in northern Canada.
i recently discovered your videos. i love them, they are simple and short. keep up the great work man!
got my float rating in an alaskan beaver! fantastic plane. i read the history book on it too, one of the reasons it’s such an incredible hauler is because the originally-specced engine was less powerful so they built a higher-lift wing for it. then they decided to go with the wasp junior, but kept the wing. i think if they had designed for the wasp junior from the beginning, the airframe would not have become as legendary as it is. let that be a lesson to companies: sometimes “overengineering at a loss” is actually a long-term gain. long live the beaver!
Awesome! Float planes are my personal fav. Thanks for doing this vid!!
This is my most favorite video yet of this series!
Loving the vids so far! Would be nice to see a couple more videos on floatplanes.
Nice Video man💪🏼. Could you make a video about the Cirrus Sr-20, it's my absolute favorite.
Here's a favorite! Thanks! Both for the Beaver costs and nice Wiki read
This was great! The subtle format changes are an improvement!
More float planes please! Maybe one will crop up that I can at least dream of being able to afford (:
I don't even fly airplanes (paraglider pilot) and yet I've really enjoyed these videos. They're very well done.
Great video, I had a fun flight in central BC on a beaver on floats.
Hey! Love your videos!! Can you make a video on the Citabria
Great video’
Thank you!
love it thank you!!!!
Never going to be your most cost effctive vehicle for the weekly shop but heck what a fun way to go shopping.
Love the videos. Can you do the aeronca champ?
I'd love to see a video on the Conwing L-16 Sea Duck.
Hey, i love your videos man, keep it up, I was wondering if you can make a video on the Beechcraft Baron G58
It’s one of my favorite light aircrafts ever. :)
wow this is exactly the video I wanted to come out next. Did you read my mind?
I love that Viking Air has taken on the type certificates for de Havilland Canada's aircraft.
I love Beavers, I get to fly in one usually once a year to hual stuff out to my cabin.
I cannot even dream to afford any of the planes you showcase, but these videos are oddly relaxing to watch! Great job! If you at some point find yourself in need for new planes to make videos about, perhaps you can do one on the SIAI-Marchetti SF 260?
Thanks!
I would love to see a video on the Piper Comanche! One of my dream airplanes.
Great video!
Cessna T210 pelease
I'd like to see you create one for either a T-6 Texan, PT-17 Stearman or Vultee BT-13.
Love your videos, I hope you do the Cessna 210 sometime in the future.
Thanks! 210 coming sometime in the future
would love to see some more light twins on this channel!
You should do The Legendary Cub family aircraft bush planes including j3, super cub, and carbon cub 😎 love these info videos brotha !!! Keep it going
Thanks!
I grew up under the kenmore base to airport docks flight path and had alway thought the rumble of a low flying beaver was normal. They still are doing the exact same thing today only fewer R-985 powered beavers in the fleet.
The Beavers and larger Otters are two of the best bush planes ever built.
Love your videos. Curious what the lowest cost of ownership for a true 4 seater is.
Please do a video on owning one of the classic, fabric-covered taildraggers. A Piper Cub would be an obvious example, but their purchase price is often ridiculous. You can get an equivalent aircraft for much less, and the operating costs should be similar. My dream plane would be a Taylorcraft.
Check with Trever Jacob. I here he has a slightly damaged Taylorcraft he would let go for a good price.
@@flyer55jrt Ouch. He'd have to add recovery and major repair costs to the purchase and operating expenses. No thanks. There are plenty of others still available.
I would love to see a video on a stearman or a fast homebuilt like a glasair III
Nice!
Awesome
I'm afraid of the ads I'll be served up for the rest of my life if I google Punch Dickens
I'd love to see a video like this done on the 180/185 series!
Great video I work at an Air-taxi in Alaska that flys beavers and turbine otters on skis
Very cool! Thanks!
You need to do one on the Hu16 Albatross :P
Yes, more seaplanes please! Seabear L-65 or Super Petrel ?
I personally would love to see a video on Antonov An-2
Same
A friend of mine is rebuilding one now.
Awesome video! Could you do a Cessna 421C golden eagle?
I have the 414 in the works. Pretty close
Punch Dickins is without a doubt one of the greatest names ever
Could you please do a review on the SubSonex Jet?
The only sound I like better than that of a Beaver's radial engine rumbling overhead is the sound of twin radials in the Beech 18
Do the Norseman next, make it a combo!
This channel is pretty sweet! Could you do a warbird replica?
Cool channel! How about a PW-6? Fuel burn is supposedly quite low.
Could you do a challenger II ultralight cost of ownership soon at some point please, it would be a much appreciated video
gonna like and sub so this guy can one day follow his aviation dreams
I don't know how I ended up with the most kind subscribers on RUclips. Thanks man
@Complete Walkaround my pleasure, thank u for the great videos! Bonus points if you can fit a Vision Jet episode in at some point……
This is one of the coolest looking planes in my opinion
I think everything is perfect but the hanger cost is high compared to most non city airports. Most hangers where I’m at in Indiana are around 100-200 a month. Even for a large plane like a beaver I can see paying more the 400 a month
can you do a super decathlon next? It is my dream plane. so it would be cool to see what I want to get myself into
Decathlon, Yup, eventually.
Every time I hear about Pratt and Whitney the name is spoken with respect. I wonder what it was like to work in their engineering dept back in the day.
Please do the L-65 Seabear, thanks!
Do the PBY Catalina next
Hey, do a Cessna 337 next!
I would love to know what the cost of ownership of the An-2 is! Please?
Nice beaver :D
Requests: Kodiak Quest, Pilatus PC-12, Pipistrel Sinus
please do the DR400!
Could you do one for the Czech Ps28 Sports Cruiser
Could you do a Gulfstream G550!?
could you make one of the pipistrel panthera
A Jodel 11 or 15 would be cool!
Can you do one for the Beechcraft Model 18?
Can you do the 206
Can you do an Antonov AN-2?
I am realy suprised about the price. Considering the production numbers I would have expected it to be much lower.
Do a piper seneca please! It’s my dream plane. That or the 58 baron. Love them both. But I’ll bet the Seneca is cheaper to buy and maintain.
Which Seneca do you like?
@@CompleteWalkaround gotta be the Seneca 3, when they started to sell them with the 220hp engines. getting a newer one is more expensive so definitely the Seneca 3.
@@GeneHaas0 I also like the 3 the best. Better useful load and available fiki. Good deal and pax love it
Yoooo da-42 or 62 next ????
Since this is such a wonderful and capable airplane why isn't anyone building them? I could ask the same question of the DC-3/C-47 ?
Wait, is it meant to burn oil like that?
One day I hope there is a Bd4c video
Any chance of the Cessna Caravan? Thanks :)
Good chance
Great video! If you can, please do a video on the legendary Twin Beech/Beech 18. Considering their capabilities, they can often be had for a song, and (reputedly) are not that expensive to maintain.
Just watch out for the AD on the spar
Do a spitfire episode!
Yes! CANADA REPRESENT!
And beavers will always be or atleasy onced piloted by a legend in the aviation community.
I dream of getting a beaver one day
Carbon cub vid next?👀
The radial engines are the best version of the Beaver
You are hilarious.
Do I want a big house or do I want a Dehavilland Beaver seaplane? Why not both? Better get busy making money....
Wow $$! One more airplane that won't make my shortlist...
The wasp engine was already widely available when they built the Beaver.
With any aircraft model, if one must pause to contemplate if ownership is within their means, its not. PERIOD....
Phrasing!
