I found this very helpful in showing all you need to know when moving up to a big boat. Appreciate the owner sharing his experience, and letting us learn with him. He did a great job being a brand new boat!
When I was a little fella about the same age as this kid. My grandfather told me port is left side they both have four letters. That has stuck with me for life. Another cool thing he had was a small stick on the dash he called an idiot stick. half red half green and he would flip it accordingly to the buoys. Great videos man. 👍🏻
Good course , personally I don’t think the man and his family needed to be filmed , could affect the learning process, but I understand it was part of the deal. I think future customers need privacy. Will build a better reputation that way. Good video.
Before I brought my new boat I took a boater's safety course so I was familiar with the starboard and port side, red right return markers I think maybe he should take a course. Nice job teaching.
“What’s the right side again?” 😂😂😂 “honey, let’s go buy an expensive twin engine boat today ..even though we havent the slightest clue about boating”😅😅 This was a great one 😂😂😂
Appreciate the owner letting you film and not being afraid to ask questions. A guess it’s a good investment for the owner to have you on board in the beginning. However, 26:26 scared me a little as any owner (especially with such a high powered boat) should be familiar with basic COLREGs, and what starboard/port (and colors) mean. This is no longer a question about small damages to the boat when docking, but potentially life and death. The owner should’ve studied this stuff beforehand, it’s not that complicated.
The teacher does not seem to have any organized agenda to instruct this guy. They should have done a complete checkout of all the systems before leaving the dock. Dead batteries should never come as a surprise mid trip. All the safety gear should have been identified and checked. This guy needs proper instruction to safely use this nice boat.
I give this guy credit for hiring you, but you got to be kidding me that he did not know which was port or starboard? You have to do some kind of studying on your own.
Would it have been beneficial to use dockside power for the charging of the house batteries while at lunch? Then, the customer would have had the ability to use and learn more systems on the continuation of the trip.
AGM batteries take a long time to recharge once fully drained and the onboard chargers are more of a trickle charger. Not a fast process. No way they would’ve come up in that amount of time.
I disagree with putting fenders horizontally on most docks. If you put them horizontally, a wave or tide could cause them to get hung up on dock. Yes vertically could also, but less chance. I would still put fenders out if there were pilings because i would rather have the fenders rubbing instead of rub rail wearing against the piling.
Bringing the family (dog included) along is not the greatest idea...but buying and trying to Captain a very expensive boat without knowing literally any boating basics isn't either. I hope he can't afford a plane.
July in west Florida, 130 miles, novice boat owner, entire family, poor dog, used boat. Relying on dumb luck to make it. There ought to be a law against poor judgement.
Yeah, I agree man great video. I learned a lot. I know nothing about boating and very interested in purchasing a boat. This was very helpful. Great content keep up the great work captain.
It would have been fantastic at 21:21 to film you showing the new owners how to properly turn on the blower while fueling the new boat. Your expertise could really make a difference! ruclips.net/video/wAM_EtjxFhE/видео.htmlsi=hqrZItiJSJ7zPR2B
So what, that’s why he is getting a lesson. At some point in the past the instructor didn’t know anything either. Go back to the basement with your negativity
It just might be me but why film someone who's obviously new to boating while they are trying to learn I really don't understand that. I don't get it why do that to a new captain who's just learning maybe he was fine with it but not needed definitely. Not a good way to learn in my opinion.
Then how else will anyone learn from mistakes being made. I’m sure he was asked if he was good with filming. In my opinion these are some of the best instructional videos out there
So you can learn as well! This is an outstanding video. The owner of the boat was a great sport letting him film while being taught. Not only did I learn so did the owner. He can now go back and watch this video again and reflect and refresh his memory. 😊
That brand new sea deck won't last the 120 miles with that dog in there. That material is extremely fragile and susceptible to cuts by anything even remotely sharp.
How distracting is having the dog, and His family on board....I understand the excitement but this guy is a novice and he looks totally lost. He really needed to be one on one with the teacher.....not good...
@jp-st2sl @michelli01 You two have probably never run a business or taught another human being another skill set, hence why you can’t comprehend why a video like this is not only helpful to the client, but a free resource for other new boaters to access. So yes, it’s just you…
This guy will be a good captain because he wasn’t too arrogant to ask for help to learn
Simply put, every new boat owner should watch this video, over & over & over !

This instructor was Awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Worth every penny to gain knowledge

Even though you’re teaching him, he is a good learner for beginner
Great video. I hope his issues are not too serious. Nice looking craft
This video confirms how important it is to know what you’re doing if you own a boat. The Sea is unforgiving of stupid mistakes
Man you have the patience of a saint, good learning video, thank you
Looks like a great time. Boating adventures here we come.

I love This Caption. So knowledgeable. Bring back memories when I was in my early twenties. I’m now 57. Hehe
That was very interesting a great learning opportunity. I learned so much watching this video. Thanks for sharing it
Should have left the kids and dog at home. To concentrate on learning
Great video, I would discuss safety issues first like the kids have to wear life jackets.
This video was needed, I retained the Information he received. Nice job
Before I brought my new boat I took a boater's safety course so I was familiar with the starboard and port side, red right return markers I think maybe he should take a course. Nice job teaching.
Great video Capt. love the longer content much better. Keep them coming.

Beautiful boat!
New subscriber, love your content man. Hope things are well
Beautiful Boat!!!

God be with them,he's the only one that will save them.
Dream boat ❤

Hi from Cape Coral Florida. You'll be in my neck of the woods. Looks like fun. You gonna put a dollar bill up on the walls of Cabbage Key?
Cabbage Key is a great stop for lunch.
That zip tie cost over $200 dollars in fines

Everybody is required to be OFF the boat while fueling...
Wrong
Life vests ?
Was there any pre requisite reading before class?
Boston whaler quality? What’s going on
Uh, someone let the batteries drain down. Surely the boat builder can't be blamed for that.
Enjoy
Captain please stop moving your Camera 🎥 around so fast. Making this First Mate Dizzy. I really don’t want to fall overboard. Lol😅
I hope he purchased a SeaTow membership 🙄

I would recommend watching the segment again. I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. Thanks for watching!
@thecaptainscoach did you say not to put fenders out before docking and fixed Docks put them horizontal, and floating Docks put them vertical?
Man that trip really stressed me out. 😂
I hope new owner has good Insurance. 😢.

$1,200 worth of fuel! Crap!

Holly some people have to much money. Lmao. That guy has no idea of what anything is on his boat.
So what, that’s why he is getting a lesson. At some point in the past the instructor didn’t know anything either. Go back to the basement with your negativity

As the boat owner, it’s the biggest gem to have Captain Will record our lesson. We can review it over and over.
So you can learn as well! This is an outstanding video. The owner of the boat was a great sport letting him film while being taught. Not only did I learn so did the owner. He can now go back and watch this video again and reflect and refresh his memory. 😊
This guy did no study.

You haven’t met Levi. Better behaved and shorter nails than most kids. Ha!
How distracting is having the dog, and His family on board....I understand the excitement but this guy is a novice and he looks totally lost. He really needed to be one on one with the teacher.....not good...
No, he is not lost. He knows how to listen his teacher. That is why he has nice boat😉. He doesn't work at grocery store cash register
Dude. Put your freaking seat belt on. Good grief man.
I hope they pay you well bro,its like putting a 10 year old into a tug. 😒
spend 500k on boat .... have no clue about anything about a boat
Everyone has to start to learn with their first boat
Hence why the captain is there to teach…
Boat was for sale in FT Myers for asking $250,000,
$100k boat and he does not know how to use it 🎉
Yeah, that's why he's being trained. Think about it Bill.
Try 2-300k used lol.
Are you a Coast Guard graduate? I am thoroughly impressed by your knowledge.
I, too, like the old Sport Fishermans @3:16.

Brand new boater buys a $500k boat. Poverty sucks.
Battery is dead and she’s taking on water. New boat? WTF
