Anvil was probably my favourite, I loved the coastal vibe with the docks, the orange tiles and all that, Benerus Manor was a nice bonus too and the gold coast is very picturesque. I also loved Bruma because I'm a fan of the Nords and something about that place is so damn cozy with the wooden buildings that led underground, gives me a warm feeling. I also like Leyawiin a lot with its 3 story buildings, the Blackwood Company, the abundance of Argonian and Khajiit citizens and just the surrounding marshy areas.
they even explain that somewhere ingame because every city resembles the provinces adjancent to them, so Cheydinhal has some Dunmer elements, Leyavin some Argonian, Bravil some Argonian and Khajiit, Anvil some Altmer/Bosmer, Bruma some Nord, Choroll some Redguard and/or Breton... guess the only exceptions are Kvatch, Skingrad and the Imperial City, which are mostly Imperial? Not completely sure on Skingrad tbh =p.
Anvil is my all time favorite. They lay out flows very well, the buildings are gorgeous to me. The terracotta roof shingles, the domed roofs and the doors that are colored like that of oxidized copper, well weathered and tainted by the warm salty air.
The cities were so much bigger and more immersive in Oblivion. That is one thing I was disappointed about in Skyrim. The only cities that didn't feel small were Solitude and Markarth. And no sewer exploring! Why, Bethesda, why?
MegaEars It want the style of the cities, I liked that. Each city was unique. Its just the size. A city shouldn't feel like a glorified village. I could actually get lost in a city in Oblivion. No such thing in Skyrim.
how is it that i find this game to be more interesting and better than the newer ones. i first played fallout 4 and loved it then got skyrim and thought this kicks fallout 4s ass. then got oblivion in late 2016 and fell in love. just gave me a special feeling like i was a 10 year old playing the game.
Tony Badivuk Because the software gets newer and fancier but the love and creativity spent on working with what you have and improvising while improving all assets because of this is lost.
The cities were always an aspect I appreciated in Oblivion. They all had so much character and were all pretty unique. I think Skingrad was always one of my favorites, though it's hard to pick one. I liked the elegant beauty of the architecture and the surrounding landscape. And the mystery and secrecy surrounding the count was so intriguing.

Cyborg Dovahkiin honestly none of the Skyrim guilds felt akin to those in oblivion. Like the dark brotherhood in oblivion was incredible, the thieves guild was interesting and the mages guild was more than a bland 'oh you went into a dungeon? you're the archmage now'
all the content was better in oblivion. while everything was visually great in skyrim , it was vastly dumbed down. even the fact the brotherhood sanctuary is barely hidden at all in falkreeth and can easily be found by anyone wandering the forrest .
stallionfury I still remember the first time I played Skyrim ran into two spriggans at level 3 and was running away and ran right past that door and was every dissapointed I found it on accident.
I mean, there’s the arch-mage’s quarters at the arcane university. Though I guess I understand if you don’t really count it since you have to complete a quest line to get it.
Honorable mention to Hackdirt, which isn't technically a city but is still a very cool town. 5. Kvatch 4. Anvil 3. Cheydinhal 2. Skingrad 1. Imperial City
Dragonjoe809 oblivion builds would actually be so helpful, because you need to know who you want to be and how you're going to play at the start of the game
How about a hybrid of both? Skyrim has perks while Oblivion has Level caps. Perks should be a option but if you train 1 handed weapons to 100 you automatically get 100% damage and more moves.
The cities are just so much better in Oblivion. Some people think the generic fantasy style of Oblivion is a negative point, but it's one of the reasons I love the game.
Skingrad is my favorite city from Oblivion. That playerhome is just amazing! Also I remember a Dunmer merchant asking me "What's the penalty in Cyrodil for Necrophilia?" to which the player can reply "It's 500 Septims" and she says"That's nothing compared to Morrowind!" I remember this bit being so messed up that I actually spent 2 hours waiting to see if the NPC's routine would take it to the grave yard. It didn't but I had to be sure. My curious 15 year old mind wanting to catch that sicko red-handed!
as a Person who grew up in a region of Vikinghistory i loved Bruma right away for the Nords living there. But serously they depictet my Character very poor on this damn statue... at this point i was wearing unmatching armor doens't looks that heroic...
This makes me want to replay it so bad! Oblivion is hands down one of the best games I have ever played, not to mention the amazing DLC's. Watching this was pretty nostalgic for me and probably many others who watched this video and for that you have a new sub and a new like for this video ;) P.S. I love your skyrim builds! My favorite part of them is the backstory of each build because of the imagination behind it :)
That or Anvil. I ended choosing Anvil but maintained a second house in skingraad and then a 3rd Chorrel. Chorrel has the friendliest people in a of Cyrodill I think.
Oblivion is the game that taught me to swipe every flowerpot I could grasp in my webbed little Argonian fingers, to line upon my stoops and balconies. Not only was it pretty, but it saved me the frustration of going in circles around some of the towns, looking for my own houses.
Not too long ago, I completed a longplay of Oblivion. I don't know what possessed me to consider doing a longplay of an Elder Scrolls game, but I did. And I loved every second. I completed every single quest and every single solitary dungeon- DLC included- and maxed out every skill. I started on April 16th 2016 and finished it on February 9th 2017. *I honestly don't know what I was thinking.*
Antonio Giangregorio I prefer Skyrim, but yeah I have to agree, a few of the cites in Skyrim were done really well, but a lot of them just weren't fleshed out enough, but like all the cities had many houses and shops and poi's, I can't tell you how many times I've gotten lost in Oblivion, it's pretty great.
I have to agree and disagree. The big cities like Riften, Whiterun, Markarth and so on are really cool. On the other side you have Morthal, Dawnstar and all this trash.
just thought I'd say awesome video! Have you thought about talking about anything in the shivering isles dlc? Like mania and dementia, the cities that represent them, and their rulers; or just the whole dlc lol.
Skingrad will always be the best in any Elder Scrolls Game. Leyawiin is a close second if only the player home wasn't a tiny shack. Almost every home in that city is massive and you get stuck with a shack.
Cheydinhal will always be my fav, the combo of elven architecture and it's close proximity to morrowind and dunmer immigrants makes it the perfect place for my dark elf to live 👌
Yeah Cheydinhal's architecture is really pleasant and the Count is quite unique compared to the others in Cyrodiil, considering he's not an Imperial. Plus the purchasable house there is my favourite aside from Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad.
This was the first Elder Scrolls game I ever played. The graphics, size, and variety in the game just blew me away back in like 2008/2009! I still prefer the look of this game over Skyrim. Definitely my favorite Elder Scrolls game and probably one of my favorite games ever! I still play it all the time! I'm playing through the main story quest for probably the 4th or 5th time now. Still so good! Nostalgia plays a heavy part in my love of this game but it still holds up just as well as the first time I played it almost ten years ago. I could go on and on about it..
I liked Bruma best, probs cos i've always favoured Nords which was why I was chuffed when they announced Skyrim, love the style of the house and after saving the place from utter destruction and having your own statue there it really feels like you own the place.
I have yet to actually fully play through Oblivion, but I want to eventually get back to it and fully play it through in it's entirety. I do like it a lot, despite the graphics of the faces being monstrously nightmarish, the fighting being weird and just plain out awkwardly blegh, and more. Oblivion is definitely in it's own right an amazing game, well worth multiple different playthroughs at least.
I fell in love with Anvil when I first visited. It’s prosperous and pretty but rough enough to feel real. While the Countess’ steward is corrupt, the countess herself & the leaders of the Mages and Fighters Guilds are on the up and up. The eventual count has a shady past, but put the best guard he knows in charge of the place, and knows how to look after poor dock workers. AND great real estate prices!
Another awesome video fudgey lol 😂. Also have a awesome time at elder scrolls experience highly deserved for the fudge muppet team and to Camel to. You guys are the best in the business and thank you for all your content you make for us :)
Nick pick, with all those perspectives and memorable quests. My top would be probably totally different. 1) Bruma - love the nordic influence and low basement houses. Local mages guild hall is my favorite, it just feels so cozy as home. It's a shame, it gets destroyed and its members killed. Also it's right next to the Cloud Ruler Temple - a totally awesome place. I loved being a member of the Blades. 2) Chorrol - cozy small town with nicest people in all Cyrodiil. I like the little square around the big Oak, where people meet and chat. Also the lovely argonian girl Dar-Ma, who introduces herself and later gets kidnapped. 3) Leyawiin - don't know why, it's not the most beautiful city, but it has those Elsweyr and Black Marsh vibes, this is probably how their cities would look like. Also my home, the Knights of the White Stallion lodge is right next to it. This is usually the first thing I do after leaving the sewers to get a free house. Kvatch could have been beautiful too, if only they rebuilt it after the destruction.
What I love about Oblivion's cities is how "medieval" they felt. Skingrad being the biggest medieval city in the game. Honestly, my least favorite city in this game is the Imperial City. It just, doesn't really fit the design they were going for in the other cities. It just sticks out like a sore thumb. :(
Anvil is #1 in my book. I can walk around that place and feel like I'm actually a part of the world. Then would have to come Bravil, Leyawiin, Cheydinhal and Skingrad.
Man I really should play this game again. I only ever finished it once. It never grabbed me the way Skyrim and especially Morrowind did. But all these years later it would be fun to give it another go.
Words can't describe how much I love Oblivion, but I'll do my best! I own three copies of the Collector's edition, two of them still sealed in the original shrink wrap. I own three copies of the 5th anniversary Steelbook edition of the game, two of which are still sealed, I own one sealed original copy of the game, back when it was first rated T for Teen, and not mature. I own a sealed version of the GOTY edition! I've never played a game as much as I've played Oblivion, as dated as anyone might think it is, there's something so charming, so magical about the game, I can't tell if it's due to greatest soundtrack for a video game, ever conceived, or the beautiful landscape teeming with bright flora, towering trees, filled with wildlife and monstrous creatures a like. The time-eroded Alyied ruins that dot the landscape. The greatest DLC of all time, the Shivering Isles, practically another whole TES game, becoming the Madgod after stopping the Greymarch! The sunsets are just awe inspiring, such a silly thing to bring up in a video game, but watching the sunset from the Anvil lighthouse... Breathtaking. Acquiring the immensely powerful (and quite sexy) Umbra sword. The faintly glow of Deadric armor and Glass armor at night. The downright horrifying Wriaths, I knew for the longest time I simply couldn't finish any quests where I had to fight those fucking ghosts, scared the living shit out of me, the minute I heard their wailing calls I booked my ass out of that fort or cave respectively, I got jump attacked by one, and I swear I paused the game after screaming like a 6 year old girl. I commend this game for making the dungeons as Erie and creepy as they were, they accomplished just that. The individual quests were so unique, and enjoyable to the last, and the main quest line, as depressing as it may be, is a satisfying one. Driving back Dagon's forces and refuting the gates of Oblivion from ever opening again, it's incredibly fun and although the rewarded armor set for the completion of the game is eclipsed by heavier sets, knowing the armor was forged specifically for you, when only emperors have worn it in the past, is something to make you feel special! I apologize if I digressed a lot, but I just want everyone to know that this franchise is one of the best, I own all the main games, from Arena to Skyrim, and among these games, my love burns for each one. Oblivion just so happens to be my favorite!
You should make a build in Skyrim called the Soul Collector, where you go through quests, and you trap the soul of all important named NPC's you end up murdering. Then you would use their soul gem to enchant an item, and name it after the soul's owner.
"OMFG WHO KILLED THAT BRETON GUY?!?!" "Maybe it was the new comer with blood on a weird looking dagger?" "Pfft, him/her? No way, they'retoo nice. And they're super poor and have a child! Bet it was that Nord. All Nords suck."
My first Elder Scrolls game, too… I picked this game up for $18 on clearance for PS3… having not been a fan of first person games in general, especially the RPG style… but for that price, I figured what the heck… and it was the best game I'd ever bought on clearance! Got me hooked on Elder Scrolls (bought the anthology to play Morrowind with the expansions, and the first games just for the lore and exploration of them) and led to me getting into Fallout 3, New Vegas, and F4.
I wish that kvatch was rebuilt at the end of the main quests
Unsuspecting Shopkeeper same
Unsuspecting Shopkeeper me too
I always wanted to see their arena
Mods have the solution to your problems.
There's a pretty good free of charge mod at nexus where you get to rebuild the city.

Chorrol is my favorite. Such a pleasant little city, and it helps that it's next to my favorite home forever, Battlehorn Castle.

Yeah that sucked

Leyawiin is my fav too
In Oblivion, every city and town felt so different from one another. My favorite city was Chorrol, it had a nice setting in my opinion.

Funny how people's opinions differ, I think Chorrol is the most boring city

Oblivion happened because the Daedra were jealous of Cyrodiil cities.

I agree with size, but cities in Oblivion being unique? Aside from main city cities were all samey with less personality than in Skyrim.
Nords didn't make sewage system.
Morrowind had the best cities in terms of unique feel and size.
The Imperial City at least felt like a City, Skyrim's cities all felt like towns.

Cheydinhal is the best, its beautiful.
Another awesome video fudgey lol 😂. Also have a awesome time at elder scrolls experience highly deserved for the fudge muppet team and to Camel to. You guys are the best in the business and thank you for all your content you make for us :)
Wait they gave both Bravill and Riften - shady cities in the south of their Provence, a place of worship for Mara? Coincidence??
Top five oblivion quests. #1 that's dark brotherhood quest that has you locked in a house. It's a plot ripped right out of a 30's thriller
From a technical perspective, why were the cities in Skyrim smaller than those in Oblivion?
Anvil is #1 in my book. I can walk around that place and feel like I'm actually a part of the world. Then would have to come Bravil, Leyawiin, Cheydinhal and Skingrad.
I love Anvil's Mediterranean aesthetic
I need a Todd Howard build.
Man I really should play this game again. I only ever finished it once. It never grabbed me the way Skyrim and especially Morrowind did. But all these years later it would be fun to give it another go.
I've nerded out in this game so much, i knew the order these were going to come in before it started
All of Oblivion's city's are great. Exceptional design.
Well i am gonna buy oblivion now. Cya like 200 houres later :D
it may be more like 300+ depends on how much you love the game
I just ordered it
Number 5 gives me such a WoW vibe. Now im going to have to spend 60-ish euros on the latest expansion and stuff.
Cheydinhal is my favorite in all TES games
TheAnalv it’s beautiful, houses the dark brotherhood, and all the shops are right next to your house!
Good list but kvatch is obvsly the best
Tiber Maxson Ik it's fucking on fire bro
Tiber Maxson So many hot chicks
@@alexhodgkinson6718 lol
Please do more videos on Oblivion...that said it's between skingrad and bruma for me
Ah, yes, I absolutely love these! More videos on Oblivion please! ;ο;
It was the first I played aswell, and only by chance,I almost quitted playing but glad I didn't, I still go back and play it sometimes!!
The Chapel of Zenithar is in Leyawiin, Cheydinhal is the home of the Chapel of Arkay.
You should make a build in Skyrim called the Soul Collector, where you go through quests, and you trap the soul of all important named NPC's you end up murdering. Then you would use their soul gem to enchant an item, and name it after the soul's owner.
I love Anvil. My brother and I played a shared character that lived there and subsequently made her descendant in Skyrim and named him “Anvil”
"OMFG WHO KILLED THAT BRETON GUY?!?!"
"Maybe it was the new comer with blood on a weird looking dagger?"
"Pfft, him/her? No way, they'retoo nice. And they're super poor and have a child! Bet it was that Nord. All Nords suck."
What is a better open world to explore? Oblivion or skyrim
This is the first Elder Scrolls game I played & my personal favorite one as well
that music is the most nostalgic thing known to gamers
Cheydinhal is my favorite city, pretty buildings and architecture with a dark secret under the abandoned house.
My first Elder Scrolls game, too…
I picked this game up for $18 on clearance for PS3… having not been a fan of first person games in general, especially the RPG style… but for that price, I figured what the heck… and it was the best game I'd ever bought on clearance! Got me hooked on Elder Scrolls (bought the anthology to play Morrowind with the expansions, and the first games just for the lore and exploration of them) and led to me getting into Fallout 3, New Vegas, and F4.
