I own one. The G30 is the last classically styled BMW. I'm going to keep mine for some time. As far as the fuel economy is concerned, I average 12.4 litres/100 km. The 2.0 litre I4 engine provides adequate power for everyday use.

I drive my 530i luxury version since December 2021 and I must say it's an every day pleasure. Okay, the engine is not thrilling, but last year we drove to Italy with 4 adults and the trunk full of luggage and my car has no problem driving 160 and 18O km/h for a long time in Germany. It was relax to drive it. Its consumption is 7,2l/100km so that's very good for such a big car. Last year I did a test drive with the Mercedes S580e. That was from another level but compared with my car, having almost the same options. Nah.... mine is a lot cheaper. So I keep it, hopefully for a long time.
what is your consumption when you have city trafic? I want the 530i but I don't know if the consuption is that much more on the 540i. like the 6 cil more for a little money extra
@@Alpha-ms8nl City traffic is around 7 to 7,5l/100km. On highway 6,4. In sportsmode or when driven in a sporty way it shall be 9 to 10l but that's not an option in Belgium. The 540i is actually good for long distances . Then you've got the pleasure of the 6cyl but the differences are to small between those 2 engines. Then the 545e or the 550i are way better. And if you want to tune your car then the 540i and 550i are the best option. The 530i is actually the same engine as the 520i with a better engineered engine. Do some test drives and you'll find out what's best for you. ;-)
Crossovers made in the last 10 years are some of the most boring cars ever made, I'd take a passenger car any day of the week... You could scare a few people with this 5 Series as it looks like a highway patrol car 🤣
I owned a F10 525d X-drive 2.0 litre bi-turbo diesel 218hp AT8 while my dad owned a G30 530i X-drive 2.0 litre 252hp AT8. F10 felt heavier - and it was - and the combination diesel-AT8 was refined but less refined than the petrol-AT8 combination, while fuel consumption was like max. 1 liter/100km less for the diesel which was..not enough given the diesel is heavier, less refined and more complicated and sensible. 530i G30 just felt better - silent, refined, fast, economical if you want it to be.
Love some BMW models alot. I had a 740 series and loved it untill the engine blew up. 9 months later I threw a mitubishi 3.5ltr v6 in it. And threw a turbo on it 👍 And after alot of drama and swearing. We got it running and it was quick. And the most reliable BMW ever. 😂😂

I had a 2017 plate 530i for 18 months. Although it was a lovely drive and super reliable it just seriously lacked the fun factor of my old 3 series (e90). You had to really push the 5 because of the weight of the car, and because of this the mpg was seriously low. I really wish I’d kept my 6 cylinder 3 series in all honesty. Would I buy another 5?…it’s a great car, but no. I’d rather save a chunk of money and get something smaller and more engaging to drive.
what was your fuel consumption on the 530i? I need to know bc I might get the 540i. if the consumption is a little more on the 6 cil than I get the 40i
@@Alpha-ms8nl I was averaging between 18 and 23 mpg around town and up to 40 on a sensibly driven longer run. But if I wanted some fun in the car the mpg would drop much lower. The performance of the 4 cylinder was pretty decent, however I have also driven the 6 cylinder 540i and would urge you to buy that, as the performance is so much more (should petrol not be an issue for you). As mentioned in my previous post, the 5 was great and felt very luxurious, but it just lacked the driver appeal compared to my old 3 series. Good luck 👍
@@gagebeckwith2250The 530 is more comfortable for daily driving. The M5 is made for the track and has a stiffer/rougher ride. Not everyone needs a high performance sports car.
BMW = Bavarian Money Waster. They are a great car but when those same features that this car has is standard in such vehicles as a KIA just doesn't make sense. In saying that it would be good if you could do a review on an ex NSW highway partrol 530D, apparently the police loves those things.
