When I first heard him on the radio in the early 80s, it caused me to pause. He indeed is a vocalist extraordinaire with a rare vocal tone. Unfortunately, most have never heard of him, unless they heard his duet with Donna Summer on “Love has a Mind of its Own”. Based on his career, I’d say he wasn’t big into seeking fame, but what a voice still and all.
@@maninthewilderness3208 I'm glad he didn't seek fame because most of them are bought off. I used to listen to 2nd Chapter of Acts in my youth after a good friend introduced me to them. I keep coming back to the music that was the best.
This is from a 1983 concert involving 2nd Chapter and Michael and Stormie Omartian, and it was released as a double album...on which of course the audio IS better. It's worth hunting for... Incidentally Matthew is still active in Christian music, singing in concert occasionally. And his voice is still tops.
Matthew is so incredibly talented! Grew up listening to him & his sisters in the 70's! My mom had their first record & when I got older, HS age my sister & I REALLY got into them. They are still one of my top favorite Christian artists along with Chuck Girard/Love Song/ Keith Green/ Andre Crouch/ Barry McGuire! Thanks for posting- I somehow found this last nite❤
I remember my first times listening to Brother Keith Green’s music ministry and Second Chapter of Acts… Matthew Ward. Praise God and my Lord Jesus for my salvation through his death and Resurrection and via this music. I rocked for Jesus! 🥰🥰👍👍❤️❤️✝️🎶
Matthew was one third of the CCM sibling group Second Chapter of Acts in the 70s and 80s. You would not likely know of him unless you were into Christian music, as he almost never performed or recorded anything else. A notable exception, from the same year (1983) as this video, is a duet with Donna Summer called Love Has A Mind Of Its Own. Look that up, it's worth a listen. Matthew is still active in Christian music, singing in concert occasionally. 2nd Chapter split up in 1988.
Criminally underrarted....Seriously, Matthew can sing WAY better than his secular contemporaries. Imagine Journey with this voice....I'm glad he's on the Lord's side!
I’ve always loved Matthew and his sisters in 2nd Chapter of Acts, and all of Matthew’s solo work. They were all instrumental in a changed life, being born again. Thanks for sharing!
No doubt Matthew Ward has an amazing God given voice. He also did a great duet with Donna Summer called "Love Has A Mind Of It's Own". He still sounds great today. He's featured in a lot of background vocals for a lot of well known folks. He also has many other solo albums that are truly powerful.
I interviewed Matthew for my radio show last year, where he spoke about the fun himself, Donna, & her Sisters had during the recording of the She Works Hard for the Money album. He was such a funny chap. The interview is on RUclips. X
Thank you for posting this! Matthew lives about 45mins from me and I got to see him and chat before the show in 2015, been a huge fan since the mid 1970s. Again, thanks.. if you have more live footage, please post as Matthew Ward is the Bomb!!
Matthew was a fan of Stevie Wonder and emulated elements of his style vocally. (IMO it's one of those occasions where the sequel is better than the original movie...)
It's out of print and when I attempted to post the entire show I was asked to remove it by the publisher. I found it on eBay on Betamax and had it converted to digital.
@@67GTO64Catalina It is called "Together Live" 2nd Chapter of Acts & Michael and Stormie Omartian. If you see one in the wild on VHS or Beta you might want to jump on it. There was a double album released in conjunction with the video release at the time.
