if she was basically homeless why did she have an assistant?
jess556 maybe for the movie
jess556 she had already quit by then, she was saying the "later years of her life"
jess556 I
jess556 famous people homeless and regular people homeless is different.
bc she was famous and anyone would work for her
While I don't doubt that Judy had her difficulties, I think it's sad that this lady thinks it's okay to continue to exploit Judy for some cash. Enough with the tell-alls. I doubt most of it is true anyway.
Exactly! She won't get justice because Judy isn't with us anymore. So why step on her name like this?
ikr she's using her now ppl will remember as a terrible person
She’s allowed to share her story.
@@mikehunt7360 What about Judy Garland's story? It's pretty tacky and exploitative to make wild accusations about someone when they're no longer around to give their side of things.
Yeah, and Christina Crawford needs to give it a rest, as well!!
Why would she say that? Garland was sexually abused, put on drugs, and over worked. Judy probably wanted to take her own life to get out of what the set was putting her through
If she did she would of done it ..
She did attempt suicide multiple times throughout her life.
It is because a young girl isn't used to this kind of life, and it must have been hard to be one of the few who became SO famous, you feel like you lose self worth. Breaks my heart.
CuteNation 13 she was sexually abused and overworked. Look more into it and you’ll be sick to your stomach
She was emotionally abused as well by the studio heads who constantly told her she was fat and no one would love her unless she did what they said. Once broken they got her addicted to drugs and controlled her through them. The studios did that to as many actors (male and female) as they could.
Studios controlled 100% of their actors lives. Who they would work with, when they worked, where they lived, what they wore, when to get married, when to have or not have kids. It was nothing short of slavery. Judy was a cash cow till the drugs took their toll and then they abandoned her. Shortly after that the whole contract system was abolished. She never recovered.
I mean it wasn't her fame she was a successful actress at the time and in that time they really didn't treat women actresses right which. She was put through hell to act.
Follow Your Dreams, Go Back to Bed she sure as hell was used to drugs. Thanks to her cow of a mother.
Follow Your Dreams, Go Back to Bed she wasn't young then.
Ugh leave the poor girl alone and let her have her peace. She's happy now.
Agree
She had drugs. This story must be shown cause it shows how drugs can affect us in our lives

Why can't Judy be left alone? She was not the unhappiest woman in the world. She was one of the funniest people I knew. What a shame this woman would say these things -- anything for a buck!
Allan Cuseo how did you know her?
Started when I was 14 and saw her on TV -- wrote fan mail- she answered-- invited me to meet her when she was in NYC or I was in Calif... I did and we became friends - especially when she was in NYC -- had great fun and of course I saw her in concert over 50 times. When she did the CBS TV show I went to all the tapings.
Allan Cuseo wow luckyyyy
Allan Cuseo I dont believe anything and if it is true friends do keep some secrets to themselves
I believe him
And you come out trashing her after she has been dead for many years
Bats It’s not that simple as just choosing to keep doing drugs.
@Bats I don't think you know how hard it is to stop doing drugs.
Fish pancake Of course they don’t. They’re probably twelve years old.
Miss you Judy. Don't pay attention to her...
The assistant doesn’t look that old so how is this possible that she was an adult when Judy Garland was alive
People tend to age differently, look at Jennifer Tilly for an example , she is almost 60 years old and she still looks very young , also , she could have dyed to her hair brown
She was born in 1936 according to my google research ;-;
Stop exploiting her she's dead leave her alone
@Bats Okay but the point is, she can't do any of that now. So why say 'she should've done' when she can't. It's useless.
This is definitely different from what my HS art teacher told me. He met Judy in a NY bar in the late 1960s, he was a bartender while attending college, and she was performing in the bar he worked at. He was initially told to stay away from her because he was known for being Star struck when meeting famous people (ex as Bette Davis, Myra Loy, and others). After her performance and the bar was ready to close for the night, Judy was still there waiting for someone to pick her up and bring her back to the hotel she was living in which was about an hour away. His boss was ready to throw Judy out and make her wait out in the freezing rain in New York in the dead of a February night where there where muggers and street thugs in the neighborhood. BUT my art teacher stepped in and offered to stay with Judy in the bar after hours until her ride came and that he would lock up afterwards. his boss acceptances his offer and my art teacher stayed with Judy in the bar after hours. He said that they ended up staying there together for 2 and a half hours. He made her dinner and gave her free drinks. Even though Judy was obviously tired, she still spoke to him and engaged with him and made him laugh. He said she was one of the funniest and most engaging people he ever met. When her ride finally came he escorted Judy to the car (because she was tired and he wanted to be a gentleman) and she gave him a kiss and hugged him and thanked him for looking after her.
I was so jealous of my art teacher for getting to spend 2 1/2 hours alone with Judy and getting a hug and kiss from her. He told me it was one of the best moments in his life.
Thank you for sharing this lovely story. ❤❤❤❤
Okayyyy.....
I read about her. The directors made her take a lot of drugs to make her lose weight. They weren’t even prescribed by a doctor. It’s terrible how they treated her
Why is Hollywood so obsessed with this woman?! Just make an epic movie about her life & get it over with

Actually on set, the tin man the acre crow and the lion were jerks to her because jealousy, this was before drugs I think
Professor ! The director told them to ignore her so all the publicity and attention wouldn't go to her head. STUPID. (The director, not you.)
Professor ! Even though she was close to the scarecrow actor.
Her mom had her on prescriptions before she even hit the set of The Wizard Of Oz
This is heart braking, only if her and my great grandmother still talked she would of helped her. So sad my great grandmother missed being around Judy and Mickey Rooney
And she comes out now!? Judy isn’t even here to speak up for herself like jeez she is GONE give her a break.
but judy was also starved during the wizard of oz and they made her smoke
Rest in peace Dorothy

I hate to say this but the filming fo that movie literally killed her. Its what started her addiction

So sad what happened to her so beautiful rest in peace 💔 we miss you 🙏😭
MISS U GIRL!!!!!!!
She was so pretty
my grandmother was friends with judy garland when they were smaller.
my great grandfather lost his jeweling job in the depression, and so he became a bakery truck deliverer for beverly hills and so thats how they met and used to play because he delivered to celebs and stuff.
I might be in the play wizard of oz! I look up to Judy garland because she is an amazing actress! I wish that she was around today😢
Why coming forward now?🤦🏻♀️ poor Judy so much has happened to her😔
And that’s why kids, don’t do drugs and don’t drink
Young woman like Judy in the early 30's to the last 80's woman started flame in young age but even the most happiest person is hiding their pain of there depression like Marilyn Monroe and Shauna Grant.
My grandfather was born in 1927. Judy Garland in his youth was obviously very popular. He’s unfortunately not here anymore (died from covid in March 2020). As a Gen-Z 20 year old I can admit that Judy Garland had an absolutely horrible life. Badly abused.
The woman isn't around to defend herself. If it did happen, and if she wasn't herself, then why does this woman have to come out with it. I'm sure Judy would be embarrassed.
the way this woman is sort of "branding" Judy is just plain out awful. the reason she was the way she was, is because of so many things that she was put through. But this woman making it seem like Judy was an awful person from birth is just sad. leave her be. she's happy now, and exploiting her for the obvious reason (cash) is just sad.
As a huge fan of JG I’m reading this book right now. About 35% through it so far. Personally I think truth is better than fiction, because I don’t think lies really help any of us. In the book Stevie Philips describes candidly the things that happened --drug addiction is not pretty. In addition the assistant is very critical of herself, and doesn’t paint herself in the best light. (She came from nothing and suddenly had this big job working for Judy Garland, and she took it really seriously. She was 23 or so and Judy was 39.) She is very sympathetic towards Garland and describes how the agents treated Judy like a race car that they just kept filling with pill so she could make it around the track a few more times. The assistant tried to help Judy when she could, but it’s very obvious in the book so far that it was true chaos most of the time--one crisis leading to the next. I might have a different opinion when I’m done with the book , but what I see so far is something I’ve always thought about Judy Garland--her fame at such a young age, and the iron fist of the studio she worked for, really never let her develop any skill at making choices. Almost like a victim of abduction, she lived a life where someone else decided every single thing. That’s no way to live, but it was her life, and when you add addiction to it as well, this is the story you end up with. Not pretty. Very sad.
I got this recommended 5 years later and when I saw it I thought it said 5 hours ago and I was all like HOW THE HECK IS JUDY GARLANDS ASSISTANT ALIVE
She is a good singer though
Seems to be a personal problem to me
Toto.. I dont think were in Kansas anymore...
Me: Yeah your high on pills
Let’s just take 2 minutes to remember what entertainment she gave us.. 😔 R.I.P
I watched the Judy movie and I am so devastated and sad for the way she was treated and I know how hard her life felt when she was in movies and his life got very emotional and the rest of her life was so scary and sad .
But I know she’s in heaven with god and not feeling any pain or taking meds
I don’t blame Her for taking pills when she was over worked and didn’t get paid for such an iconic movie or ANY movies plus she was abused So ngl if i wee her i would to
Leave her alone! She was over worked, forced to smoke, put on a harsh diet her child hood was basically snatched from her! She’s in a happy place now so just let her be!
Munchkins being poorly treated
Munchkin hanging himself in the background when cameras were rolling
Munchin molesting Dorothy

What kind of film production was this?
Zomb1eBaxter 21
A Hollywood one.
Animal abuse, starving the girl, the Munchkins getting drunk every night, making actors ill from their makeup and then replacing them without prior notice, etc. MGM's slogan, "Art for art's sake," wasn't followed with the actors' well-being in mind. Louis B. Mayer was a jerk.

Poor woman was chewed up and spit out by MGM. The things that company did to her and how cruelly even lots of cast mates consistently treated her led to her doing some horrible and sad things. Movie companies use actors until they’ve drained every ounce of happiness and livelihood from them. God rest Ms. Garland’s soul.

no need to exploit this poor woman, how disrespectful of you human beings.
I hate that they come out when the person being accused or talked about isn’t there to defend themselves, she’s already gone let her rest in her grave in peace, as if her life wasn’t hard enough.
I feel so bad for Judy, she was put on drugs and sexually abused. Poor thing may she Rest In Peace

Can we just talk about how the book kept saying and, and, and instead of using commas. Horrible grammar
No home but she had an assistant, We all believe this story!....
MGM ruined her, giving her pills to wake up and pills to go to bed, she was on a diet of chicken broth, cigarettes and coffee. MGM made her work long and hard hours on set with out proper breaks..They criticises her looks telling her that her 98 pound and 4/2 slim figure was too fat and her nose was too turned up. At 12 she was signed at MGM but had been on stage singing and dancing with her sister starting at the age of 2. Her mom was the altament stage mom and cared more about fame and fortune than her own daughter health and wellbeing. She was a child fully supporting her family and became the soul bread winner. A role she was cast to play all her life. No wonder Judy had a drug problem she had been on them sense she was 12..Thank You LB Mayor for completely destroying a beautiful soul that only wanted love and acceptance in her life.
I hope she found her rainbow and lives in her own version of OZ.
Shame on this women for using Judy for her own fame and fortune, I hope her children fight her on the truth about there mother.
