What a great and awesome adventure! Thanks for catching the fun and educational moments of this journey! I enjoyed the fascinating ride! HAPPY GROWING!
Thank you very much 😊😊😊Glad you found it as such🌼🌺🌻 There is the how I did it video if you'd like to see it: ruclips.net/video/v4INpjl0CpA/видео.html Thanks for visiting 😊😊😊
HA HA HA!!! TOO LATE I'VE ALREADY WATCHED IT! I've been binge watching videos regarding germination/flasking. I've been in a frenzy trying to get all the information I can before I get started on my own project. I am doing a pollination propagation project with my vandas and I'm still trying to decide whether or not I want to attempt to do it myself or if I should take it to a lab to get it done. I still have about a year to decide so at least I have some time to really think about it. Thanks for sharing a wealth of information on this topic. HAPPY GROWING!
Looking great! I wish I could do this at home. So much equipment and $$$! I truly appreciate how unique orchids are and the care they require to grow from seeds. Looking forward to the next video update!
To make sure the contamination doesnt happen, you should allow the media to dry before closing the lid. Same is done in laboratories (as I do myself). The medium itself is very moist, the water as condense is not going to contribute. I suggest about 30 minutes of drying after pouring or sterilizing
I agree however, it was not really possible with simple plastic ...I would have needed glass jars to autoclave them and I didn't have any available at the time.
Wow...you have determination and unrelentless patience! Difficult to not lose some to contamination. Really amazing attempt. Bringing these babies to bloom will be the ultimate achievement. Should be some interesting variations.
ResQuetzal ...😂🤣😂🤣😂 I never thought that I would see patience and me in the same sentence!!!! Thank you that is very nice of you to say 😊 I honestly have no idea what to expect if I get them to flower other then pink and white ...fingers crossed!!!! Till next time 🌺🌷🌻🏵🌹⚘🌷
Cool thanks for the time line I also sown seeds but I got them to germinate stage because they had a raised profile on the media but I think they got fried in the sun one day it got to hot great video
You are most welcome...sad to hear you lost them 😯 I keep them exposed to the sun only until about 10 AM in the morning thanks to the way these windows face. Try it again if you have the chance 😊👍🌱🌱🌱
Orchidomania I made my own flow hood I have a video showing me flasking the seed maybe check it out it’s just a vid no talking because I didn’t wanna give out info if I didn’t have success and I also think I may have killed the germinated seed by putting h2o2 in the flask because the only sterile liquid I could think of putting through the pore tape because flasks were getting dry
Andrew’s Orchids...wow cool! I will 😊 I find air exchange is pointless...use a big container and keep it sealed no humidity and no contamination issues!
You would have much greater success if you actually sterilized your containers and medium. The microwave can only boil water (100c/212f) that is not hot enough to kill all bacteria and fungal spores. An inexpensive pressure cooker capable of 15psi would do the trick for you. Also, you are seeing stagnation of growth because your little seedlings and protocorms need to be replated on fresh medium and spread out. On average, you will go through three culture vessels before your plants are ready to come out of the flask to be hardened off (mother, 1st replate, 2nd replate). You should also try using different medium. There are media for seed sowing and replate/maintenance media. Be sure to use the right one for the right stage of growth. Media is very inexpensive, so it is worth trying several types to see which one works best for your enviroment. I am thrilled to see your interest in orchids and hope this helps you attain even greater success in the future.
Thank you for the nice words and suggestions. I know that multiple replatings are needed, however I didn't have access to more media and I was also limited to the type of containers ... PP plastic can't take even a cheap pressure cooker. I HOPE at some point in time I will be able do it with all the required steps/containers/ etc...
When I first heard the classical music I knew it was going to be a show stopper. Thanks for sharing your update!
Thank you 😊 Very sweet of you 😊

Orchidomania yeah I have miltoniopsis seed pod working and more flasks ready but this time I won’t put them in my western facing window
Andrew’s Orchids ...Nice! Good luck! You have access to a sterile set-up?
Orchidomania I made my own flow hood I have a video showing me flasking the seed maybe check it out it’s just a vid no talking because I didn’t wanna give out info if I didn’t have success and I also think I may have killed the germinated seed by putting h2o2 in the flask because the only sterile liquid I could think of putting through the pore tape because flasks were getting dry

Does the same process work for cattleya?
Watch this video and you will understand why...ruclips.net/video/MB2mYrrSSCU/видео.html
can we grow or clone them faster somehow???
I think if you clone them it might be a little faster...but then you have a clone, not a new plant/colour 🤷♀️
What medium is used in this process?
You can find all the info and more in this video: ruclips.net/video/MB2mYrrSSCU/видео.html
Very good content. Congratulations 🎉

Love this video... But the music is too intense. You need something more mellow. Thanks!
It's classical music 😊
