\+/ Night City Stories \+/ Chapter 14 - What Have We Done Together Rick's lifeless body lay in pieces on the floor of the hangout. The blood leaking from his cracked open skull and shredded torso leave Brian and Zaunya completely unfazed. They're both seen scrambling throughout the hangout rifling through various containers and areas of the hangout. The heat inside of the building causes the windows to fog up with condensation. The amount of hardware throughout the place nearly overwhelms them after taking a second look at all of it. New and used cyberware implants, taken apart iron and tech shotguns, drugs waiting to be packaged for distribution, and various 6th street armor plating and combat vests. Brian glances out of one of the windows to see several neighboorhood kids peeking in before quickly scattering into the night. He walks around to the opposite side of Rick's desk to find a heavy wooden chest with a giant 6 and "Blessed Be The Patriots" carved into it. He yanks the heavy chest out from underneath the desk to see a heavy iron lock on it. Brian glances over at Rick's shredded corpse briefly before looking back at the chest and pointing his Nue at the lock. He shoots the lock before kicking the rest of it off the hinge and opening it.. Zaunya, with Rick's blood on her sleeves and hands, makes her way around the desk as he does this. They both stare together at the now openened chest as Zaunya's eyes open wide. The chest, full of eddies makes her instinctually bend down and reach for it before having her forearm quickly grabbed, the speed of the grab makes a skin slapping noise that startles her. "No." Brian says as she quickly looks up at him with confusion. Before she can ask anything, he yanks her behind him heading for the door. While being pulled away by Brian she looks back at whats left of Rick's body. She hears his voice in her head echoing in that gravely deep tone. "Come on.. why hide your beauty..? Is it really worth that much? Hm?" She then quickly hears Nicholas' voice after: "What did they do to you huh?.. what did they take-" A flashback to Zaunya's past begins.
"Zaunya?.. Zaunya honey." Zaunya's mom says in a soft caring tone getting her attention. A young, adolescent Zaunya snapping out of her daydream looks up at her mother with her big emerald green eyes. "ohh..honey..your hair..this just won't do." Zaunya's mom quickly works to fix Zaunya's hair into a presentable fashion before continuing in a slightly tired and irritated voice. "You know how they demand standards with presentation Zaunya..Petrochem says first impressions are everything! Come here." She turns Zaunya back around further touching her face up " Do you know how hard I had to work to get them to accept you so young?" She says before pausing and taking a deep breath. She puts both her hands on Zaunya's shoulders speaking in a soft, proud tone. "You're going to do great honey! They're going to love you!" Another pause takes place as Zaunya's mom stares at her little face..her eyes well up with tears as she caresses her little cheek "My beautiful baby girl.." She says with a smile on her face holding back tears. The two of them turn and begin to walk toward the door leading out of an office in the PetroChem HQ. Zaunya's mom, holding her hand tightly leans down and whispers in her little ear. "Remember.. whatever they want..whatever they ask.. the answer is yes. Ok? ..the answer is yes. Ok? ..the answer is yes. Ok?" The sound of Zaunya's mom's voice echos on repeat in her head as she stares blankly out of the window of the Colby Butte. Brian reaches over and gently places his hand on her shoulder making her jolt..snapping her out of her thoughts and quickly looking at him. "Hey.." Brian says in a softened tone having kept an eye on her.. silently paying close attention to her state of mind. "You ok?" Zaunya doesn't respond and goes back to looking out of the window. Brian lights a cigarette and takes a deep puff. The pair of them have taken a position in the Butte that offers them a perfect view.. looking down into Brian's neighborhood allowing them to see both sides of the street clearly. The pitch black, residential darkness of Arroyo contrasts the well lit up other districts the closer you get to the city center. The sounds of chirpping insects and the cold open air take over the lack of city sounds the pair are used to hearing..offering a quiet, general calmness for the both of them to share. Zaunya finally breaks the silence. "Why didn't we take the eddies." She says in a monotone Brian realizing shes shifting topics away from her state pauses and re-focuses himself. "You saw that holo call he was making right." Brian says as Zaunya finally looks over at him. He continues. "I'm sure they're already on their way.." "Sooo.. no traces left behind is the reason huh? They won't know..?" "Oh... they'll know." Brian says holding up and showing her his blood red, crimson nue. "Its just a matter of how far they wanna go with it." "And the lack of klepping is..what? an attempt at a sieze fire before it even begins..?" "look." Brian says as he takes another drag of his smoke as Zaunya reaches for her own. The pair of them see several 6th street gang cars caravaning together up the block towards the hangout. As they all exit their vehicles, various kids from the neighborhood begin running up to them. Several run up to a woman.. Angela. whom has exited the lead car, she bends down listening to the kids as they point toward the hangout. She quickly looks over at it before running in with the rest of the crew following behind her. Brian and Zaunya quite far away quietly watch. A fair amount of time passes by with the two quietly smoking in the butte. They look to see that same woman come back outside, putting Rick's white cowboy hat on and stepping out onto the street with her crew in tow. Brian and Zaunya watch the group B-line it down the block to Brian's house armed to the teeth..Zaunya in shock gasps as she looks over at Brian emotionlessly watching them. 3 of the 6th streeters pile up outside the door before storming in with Angela walking in unarmed behind them. Brian closes his eyes briefly as the two of them hear the low, feint sounds of glass breaking and the interior of his home being completely destroyed along with stray yells of them communicating with each other. "Brian..!?" Zaunya says, cracking her voice, getting him to open his eyes back up. He sees a small bright orange glow begin to eminate from his home as the 6th streeters all file out of his home. The small bright orange glow rapidly grows into an inferno within the home as the 6th street gangers stand outside watching it. Angela pulls her iron and unloads shots directly at the house before looking around at the rest of the now woken up neighborhood watching them work.. Brian whom has seen enough starts the car and turns it around to drive away.

Ok im the 99 or so like and i been listening to your channel along with some other cyberpunk/synthwave to darksynthwave etc you know what i mean kind of channels 🤙🏻 and i love the alive wallpaper to of sexy or sexy strong cyberpunk ladies with nice night time backgrounds etc) very cool 😎👍🏻 but i do say this, if this is a person or group, whoever, im very concerned of the songmanship writing for this channel, i mean its very pretty of effects and melodies b ut it seems lacking of changing up in other keys of wirhin a song or along in other songs to write in other keys or you knoe what i mean, hey i love this channel and music overall or unless its intentionally to be like this every upload and all the way through😅 lol , hey im a big fan of cyberpunk stuff to rock/metal to even classical to jazz to pop and im a musican so im saying it to help you k, yea unfortunately i dont have a studio to upload songs of covers or originals st the moment as i been, but i do use sound editing apps till i do on my vids but the point is if im gonna write something its gonna be catchy and change up the melody sometimes 😜🤑 it gets kinda of slightly obnoxious how the melody of your channel never seems to change keys in terms of writing 🤔😑 im here to help you and i want you to be at your best, its just constructive criticism i beem wanting to tell you ok ?
