Is the huge matting difference just how you cropped the frame for the bluray? I'd assume the framing shouldn't be that big of a difference.

Wow the 4k is streets ahead of the bluray which always had a kind of 'clinical' vice in its grade, now I can see the real colours. Cheers!

Some scenes look a bit better on the blu. Overall though it’s probably better in 4K

Agree. I got the 4K and can’t wait to watch, but I’m keeping my blu also.

Where do you source your 1080p blu-ray screenshots? Beacuse those look too red and low res compared to the actual 1080p blu-ray. It is not the first time I noticed this in your videos. It creates an unrealistic comparison between the two. Maybe you could look into it to try and improve the comparisons. Thanks

Straight from the 1080p bluray disc. I never noticed the pinkish hue before until I put it side by side with the 4K. I've been doing this for a while now, and there are times when im surprised by how different it looks to the point I recheck all the calibrations on my drive and software are accurate along with putting 2 TV's next to eachother and it does look like this on some 1080p and 2160p discs when you put them next to eachother. You'd be very surprised. I promise you I do not tweak or change colors in any way. All the images are pulled directly from the discs. It also depends how old the HD master is, if it was created prior to 2010. Many times studios would change color tones to work better on CRT TV's and they never went back to correct when 4K TV's where in everyone's homes unti the 4K transfer.
