Peaky Blinders is shamefully inaccurate in its details on the war, made me frown disapprovingly when they mentioned in Thomas Shelbys' war records that he served at Verdun, which was exclusively a French battle far removed from the sectors of the front manned by the BEF, a number of other little things also show that the producers gave not one thought to historical accuracy, but if you are interested in watching something that gets a lot right check out Birdsong.
I had the great pleasure to meet both Simon Jones and Peter Barton at la Boiselle when it looked as though they were going to be able to explore this extremely valuable site. Such a shame that family issues put a stop to that.
My Grandfather was visiting New Zealand when the WW1 broke out . Joined the New Zealand Tunnelling Engineers. He was in the group that found and developed the tunnels of Arras. Have his memoirs . He got the Spanish flu and was demobbed in Uk
Does the U.K. not have any Public Speaking courses in its education system? I have watched a number of these presentations. While I find them extremely interesting and informative, I am disappointed at the speakers. It seems to me that ninety percent of the lectures consist of "ums" and "ahs". I am appalled at the quality of the speakers. They are all absolutely terrible public speakers.
I'm just here because I first heard about this job from Peaky Blinders on Netflix and I wanted to learn more about it.

Considering Outside Wartime, Mining is a Deadlier Profession than Soldiering it's a Joke that such Skilled Men were Begrudged a Proper Wage
Hodbarrow is nowhere near Lancaster, it's in a different county - Cumbria, on the coast next to the town of Millom. I live in Millom.
