Honestly. If I went back in time and told kid me in 1997 that Quake and doom would have mockumentaries on RUclips. He’d be very confused because he was like 5. But regardless. This channel brings the child in me joy. THIS is what I wanted back in the 90’s. If you keep uploading. I’ll keep watching. Thank you for your hard work
The ending part with conference discussion to invade Stroggos hinting the start of Quake 4 and the presentation on Stroggos' astronomy was super well voice acted! More of this please! This old millenial (me!) was interested in the events behind the scenes of QW, Q2 & Q4, which the main games only barely hinted and we never got other media of.
Dude I love these videos. They were a huge influence for my Quake 2 video and I always look at your videos for when I am lost when editing to get me inspired. Love the video too!
More Quake/Doom stuff, and I haven't watched all the previous ones yet. I'm in a great position in relation to this. The content here is unique, artistic and technical - I'm so glad I found this channel.
really wish they would make a horror shooter in modern graphics on the homeplanet of strogg imagine how horifying a stroggification would be with better graphics and more expanded
@ yes but i mean look at it its aged like doom 3 we need updated stuff better graphics better athmosphere and make it bigger hell i would love a quake 4 remake
Stuff like this is awesome. I been told "don't overthink these generic alien monsters" but am glad you think about the Strogg, culture (if any) technology and potential biology. I SO, so hope we see stuff like this for the Skaarj in Unreal 1. I really think that game deserves your attention. You'd love their aliens, i assure you.
I'm overthinking everything Quake let me do it in-game instead of real life ^^ I liked UT but never was really interested in the lore. I'll go check it out.
@@lechumqc7910 @lechumqc7910 Look at Unreal Gold, it will show more of the proper Skaarj. Play it. You'd love it. The Skaarj are very realized. UT's lore is cool, but Unreal 1 has more of a emphasis on SP, so stuff will be cool. Also, go look for the map "Morose"/Skaarj Temple of Jrath, this was a scrapped map. But it shows very nice Skaarj cultural lore.

rofl, nice mockumentary video. And I see you used my intermissions from torturejam1 @1:30 there ;) On an aside, I disagree that enforcers are humans. Reason being twofold: 1) the Quake 2 manual states that only the guards are former-humans among the vanilla Q2 enemies; 2) their facial structure is very similar to the Gunner, Berserker, and Gladiator. As such, I would argue these four are Greiss per QC lore that says most strogg left on planet during Q2's events were converted Greiss. Fun fact: Based on appearances, it's possible the strogg are primarily "just" 6 different species. Humans and Greiss confirmed by Q2 and QC respectively, but then we have what I'm certain to be original strogg (Q2 Iron Maiden, Medics, Parasites) due to their facial similarities to mutants, an unknown giant race used for a small few enemies in Q4, some strogg (like the mostly mechanical Peeker) use gekk organics, and lastly there is an unknown humanoid race not Greiss as confirmed by QC, but too visually different from the Maidens, Medics, and Mutants which implies a second humanoid species (according to QC lore, few of these species of strogg are found on Stroggos during Q2).
I love those introductions! You guys should do more of them! :D For the Enforcer, I agree I didn’t recall the manual, that’s a good point. As for the Iron Maiden and the others being original Strogg… maybe. It’s really interesting to think that there is not such things as a originale Strogg. That idea came to me after reading Clutch’s lore, where he was corrupted in that cave and after linking to the core all other robot got corrupted. It made me wonder what if the same thing happens with those Neurocytes? Maybe they’re just a way to directly link any species to a corrupted source. That would mean a Strogg isn’t really a species but the result of this corruption. So maybe there was a first species that got corrupted, but that wouldn't make it a originale Strogg. But then you get all these things that don’t quite fit, like where did the Neurocyte even come from? Maybe it’s a similar story to Gilman, where a being made contact and instructed someone to create the Neurocytes for their people....but yeah now at this point its all just headcanon, but still, it’s very interesting to think about it this way.
As soon as I saw this in my new subs videos I knew this was going to be so cool. When it ended I went back and watched it again. I love some of the camera angles and positioning you use. Some of them must need notarget? I must of been 30 when Q2 was released. I was deep enough into the backstory enough that, when I came across my buddies in the cells who had gone out of their mind, it was with some sadness that I killed them to put them out of their misery. A suspension of disbelief thing. I still play that way these days.
Interestingly, a single photograph exists of a smaller, tank-like Strogg. Little is known about it, and soldiers have referred to it as the “Blitz” or “Tonk.” Not only that, but soldiers have also claimed to encounter a “Flamer.” Even less is known about this Strogg. Some have even denied its existence altogether, claiming that the soldiers experienced a group hallucination, as the Strogg “Do not possess any weapons utilizing fire […], let alone a ‘FlameGun’.”
I also wanted to include the 'Janitor' from Call of the Machine, but I decided to focus more on Stroggos instead. ^^ I don't know anything about that flamer though. I'm intrigue 🤔
Yes, but what makes it different is the field of view change. People normally set it to 90-100, but I lowered it to around 30 to create a more cramped feel and make everything look bigger.
i love the strogg as an enemy. their brutalist yet clearly utilitarian and fascist structures are an incredible sight. i always wished we could have more games like quake 2 and 4
@@Romanian901 'Fascist architecture'? No, that would be more natural and ergonomic while still remaining utilitarian. Look up 'biodynamic agrarianism' if you would like an example.

The Makron is also in some circles known as "Chief Strogganoff."

The amount of work and knowledge it takes to create a video like this... congratulations! Amazing job! gg
If we had this kind of media about any game, the game would become a mania, much, much more then Doom was.
Incredible video, man. Awesome!
Quake 2 is my favorite game. Its a great documentary.
Mine too! Would be so good to have an new Quake with the strogg returning enemy
Brilliant!
Hope this gets way more view, the amount of effort put into this is insane.
😊It was really fun to do, especially the research, binge-watching a couple of documentaries to get the feel right.
