I love how Dana Hersey in his voiceover of that promo says "The Boston Red Sox play the Baltimore Orioles in a doubleheader (we hope)". That's great! I also like the fact that TV38 apparently aired quite a few work week matinee games. I miss the old TV38 that much!

Does anyone remember when Ask The Manager had Bill Flynn? Those days were a hoot! I think they got one letter read per show!

I remember the Three Stooges was the biggest thing on tv 38 in Boston. A lot of questions were about the Stooges.

They answered my letter on an episode of Ask the Manager in August 1990. I wish I had saved the tape. I did actually tape it, but the audio didn't come out.

And someone in the traffic department must have been asleep at the controls, because the Red Sox-Orioles promo was one day old -- they played the doubleheader the previous day (and split it).
The Saturday doubleheader also happened to be the Red Sox' first two games of the season. It turns out that several teams started the '82 campaign late. Must have been that beautiful early April weather.

ALL stations should be REQUIRED to have a show like this- I remember seeing a few on Sacramento area stations up til around 1985.
I have a feeling nowadays any complaints would be answered with "We'll do whatever the hell we want- fuck you!"

This is fascinating. I've seen GMs (General Managers) do short commentaries, usually uncontroversial in nature. But this is really something, something I'd like to do if I ran a TV station.

There was a major blizzard on April 6, 1982 all thru the Northeast & Midwest, which wiped out the Sox first 2 games at Chicago (made up in a twi-night doubleheader later that month), and first game at Baltimore.
