Love how you break things down to make it soo simple to follow along. Great vid dude.
Hell yes I've been waiting for a new video from you again on INAV and since im building a Ready Made RC stratosurfer which is basically the same thing this is really going to help. Best tutorials on RUclips right here 🙏❤️ thank you my friend 🔥👍
BEST Vid on youtube like this that there is! Keep em coming! Thank you!
Another quality video, Grahame. I can't wait to see your future flights.
Well done, that's a brilliant tutorial. So much work to do, fair play geezer👌
Mate, this is one of the best and clearest INAV/FPV plane builds i have seen. Awesomve video
An excellent build tutorial. Very helpful. One of the best I have seen. Also the grooviest. Hope there will be more like it.
What a great video in detail and easy to understand even for an old guy like me. Thanks for sharing this with us. Happy Flying
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!! Thanks for sharing this!!!
This was awesome when I just built my Bixler 2... nice one!
Another master piece. Love it.
As a frustrated newbie,re trying to put together a plane fpv setup, this video answered all my questions. Thanks!
Finished putting together plane, and programming receiver as instructed.Everything seems to work except I cannot arm the motor.Programmed the arm switch as per video, but cannot get motor to work. The motor does work however using the Inav motor test screen. What am I missing?
Thanks your share.very helpful for me.Appreciate!
Amazing video!
awesome, thank you!
Nice details 👌 keep up with the nice reviews
Great video.
Great plane you choose bud, we got the Bix 3 and only going to FPV it atm but may iNav it as well at some point. Keep up the good work bud :)
best bideo what i saw
Brilliant video and really easy to follow shame i dont have same TX as you
I have the same parts and everything . Bixler is such a good plane
Damm right it is :)
muy buen trabajo
Your SHIT HOT now with these build videos. Cracking little planes. The Matek Wing boards are now the must have product for any FPV Plane. I have 2 F411 myself, plus a 405 and now 722. Look forward to some good follow footage from/of it.
Awesome I want one
Great Video !!!! Well done !!! Have you got any ideas on the camera angle you used ?
Great video thank you. What are TX requirements for this project?
Do you think you could do this with a bixler 2. I’m worried about the canopy size
Great video! On laminating the wings (applies also to the stabilizers): Do you laminate over the hinges and cut them free afterwards ?
I usually laminate over the hinge on the top side of the wing, but not on the underside
Are the cli settings and inav setup and the same for the axn?
Great job. Video looks nice and clean. Time to build some lithium ion packs and take it 30 miles away lol.
Already planning on it :p
i have only Matek F405 STD.. can i use it? please give me more information, i really am interested in this kindda project..
thank you very much...
what battery here ?
Love your videos bought a wing not long ago but didn't laminate it. Just covered it with proper flying tape with different colours does it matter I didn't laminate it or should I take the tape off start again with laminate it first then put tape on after.
It depends really. Does the aircraft need laminate? Does it feel strong with the tape? For optimal results you'd wanna laminate the aircraft first and then put the tape on after, but if the aircraft is already tough I wouldn't worry about it. No point carrying extra weight if you don't need to lol
@@gizfpv thanks going leave it keep the good videos coming you do a awsome job.
Many thanks 😋
@@hillbillypetej tape works great. One of my s800 was tape laminated. Its still holding strong after hundreds of crashes and hard landings. Great part about tape is if it gets to beat up you peel it off and stick a fresh piece on. Just make sure you tape it in a warm area. Trying to tape it in the cold will cause it to not stick well. If you have a laminating iron then run it over the tape to warm the adhesive and make it stick better. If you dont have a laminating iron then use a clothes iron. Works just as well. Just move it around at a brisk pace. Just want to warm the glue. Dont overheat it or the glue will transfer entirely to the foam and the tape will come off.
Awesome video! I'm using another version of iNav, 2.6.1 and didn't see the "don't spin motors when armed" option. Is that in another tab? Also would I use AETR in the receiver tab for a tx16s radio? And do you think the CLI codes you used would work for a hobbyzone aeroscout? I am a complete beginner at this. Thanks!
I believe the 'spin motors when armed' option is now on the output tab? As for AETR, that depends on your radio. On the TX16, I think you have to press the SYS button, and then on the first page scroll to the bottom where it should say what channel map is being used. Basically you just gotta make sure you tell INAV to use the same channel map. So if the channel map on the Tx16 is TAER, tell inav to use TAER. Or if it's AETR, tell inav it's AETR. As for cli codes, they should still work fine
@@gizfpv thanks!!
I just noticed (5:59) I have that same antenna for my TBS Micro Rx and one of the antennas must have fallen off. Is the Rx still any good?
If you still have half the antenna attached then the Rx should be ok. You should replace it asap tho
Hey Giz, Great job! In iNAV you put both NAV ALT and NAV CRUISE on Channel 6 switch position 3. Just wondering if this is correct or should one be assigned to position 2. And if using flaps where and how would you set that up with same FC and radio? Thanks,
Yes that's normal. You put both modes on the same switch position to combine them. NAV ALT gives you altitude hold, and NAV CRUISE gives you heading hold. Having them both combined gives you heading hold and alt hold at the same time
Giz FPV Ah. I didn’t know that was an option. Thanks for help.
You show wires with individual sockets to plug in wire on the board pin
What is there name and were do you buy them?
Dupont connectors, can be brought on ebay
Awesome video! Looks like you did reinforce it, how is it holding up so far?
Absolutely fine. Only flown it a few times as the weather here has been terrible, but every flight has been great. Even flown it with a GoPro on and it flew great, even though the CG was way off 😂
@@gizfpv Yes same! Weather here is terrible, have not tried it yet with fpv, but good to hear it is going well! happy flying : )
Hi giz!! i'm ready to assemble a inav plane like your bixler!!! I have 2 questions for you:
1) Positioning the gps under the wing affect its performances? i alway thought that the gps should be mounted without anything above it!!!
2) The vtx under the wing doesn't over heat? My vtx became very very hot at 600mw and i suppose that under the wing, covered with tape it won't receive enough air for cooling!!! What do you think about it?
thank you for the attention and my compliments for your videos... they are always useful and the montage is awesome!!!
GPS is absolutely fine under the wing. Foam doesn't block GPS signals at all. And the vtx remains perfectly cool under the wing too. There's only half a millimeter of tape between it and the airflow, so the heat escapes no problem 😁
Giz FPV thank you so much for your help!!!
What about a Volantex Ranger 2000? Where do you buy your laminate film?
I did look at getting the Ranger myself, but it's too big to fit in my car! Haha. I brought my laminate from a local company, but unfortunately they've closed down now. Need to find somewhere new to get it from.
What size lipo would you recommend ?
Would it take a 3S 3000 ?
The reccomded lipo is a 2200 3s. However if you're willing to cut out some of the foam inside the nose you'd easily get a much bigger battery in. I reckon a 3s 4000 would fit well. Only downside however is bigger batteries would throw off the CG, so you'd most likely need to add a little tail weight to compensate
This stock motor and esc can handle 4s li ion battery?
Yup, should be able to
Hi Giz, sorry for disturb you again, but I have another question, can you help me?. I'll buy the Flysky i6X, it's compatible to bind with your TBS Crossfire Nano, or I need to use another RX? I dont know if can bind the TBS with the Flyskyi6X. Thanks!
Hi. No, a TBS receiver won't work with a Flysky i6x. The only receivers that will work with a Flysky i6x will be Flysky branded receivers. To use a TBS receiver you need to have a TBS transmitter/radio. Basically, as a general rule of thumb, the brand of the receiver needs to be the same as the brand of the radio. There's some exceptions to this (3rd party receivers sometimes exist). To find a receiver for the Flysky i6x just look up 'Flysky i6x compatible receivers' on Google, you'll find plenty of answers 😊
@@gizfpv Okay mate, that's the last question, I'm new on this and I don't know a lot of this things. Thank you very much again, you were so helpful to me. Have a nice day!!!
I'll buy the A8S, that becomes with the Flysky i6x. Thanks 4 help me!!!!
Great build! What glue do u recommend for the rudder and elevator?
I used UHU Por glue on pretty much every part of this build other than the 3d printed parts where I used CA.
Giz FPV thanks I have some UHU por so will use it. When u add the duck tape to the hinges I found that it will only let them turn one way as it’s too tight to stretch. Is there a way to apply it?
@@thefitchesvideo Sorry only just seen your message. Yes, what you want to do is move the aileron downwards fully and then attach the tape to the hinge. Then move the aileron up fully and attach the tape to the other side. That way the tape won't prevent the aileron from moving
Man I am struggling with this brother. I bought everything you have here based on your video which is excellent by the way. I am stuck on servo madness.... I am trying to get the receiver tab set up like you show @ 12:11 in the vid, but I cannot select TAER in iNav even though that is what I have set in my radio. It will only allow me to chose AETR, Futaba, Default or JR.
As it sits, when I raise the throttle control on my radio the flaps move, when I move the roll sticks the rudder moves, etc.... Where have I gone wrong.... ? New to planes, been on quads for a little bit and I cannot believe I am stranded here in no mans land like this.....
You need to select JR/SPEKTRUM/Default. That'll put you in TAER mode :)
Hi, Can I use the Flysky i6X? I have a low budget to buy the Taranis. Thanks!
Yeah of course. Any radio and receiver will work. The receiver might just need to be wired a little differently
@@gizfpv Okay bro, thank you very much. :D
Did you use 2,4 ghz vtx and using filter? I have problem with my caipi 2 since using 2,4 ghz, the home point is drifted
Yeah I'm using a 2.4ghz vtx, but not using any filter as my GPS is fine. Are you using a immersionrc vtx? I've noticed that they can cause problems with gps
@@gizfpv I am using tbs unify 500mw and full package f35 lightning, strange thing is the satelite is locked at 20 satelite but once born the home point is drifted about 750 meters.
Great Tutorial for a beginner, well done.....You maybe should have warned against plugging in the Camera and VTX plugs backwards at the Flight Controller.....or....boom.!!!!
Im still not sure why they didnt use a simple 3 pin output with power on the centre pin, like it is on a basic F4 board, bad move by Matek IMO. I have two of the F405s and love them, but Im really careful when plugging the VTX or Camera into it for the exact same reason. An accident waiting to happen if you ain't paying attention.
I know, it nearly caught me out! Why they have the ground wire in the middle is baffling. I did try to emphasise the need to get it wired up right by pointing out the need to adjust the wires on the servo plug. Hopefully people won't make any mistakes
why did you put 423 for the scale current sensor? when in other video you put 321?
When you buy any Matek flight controller that has a current sensor built in, the current sensor will already be calibrated and you're told what the scale is
@@gizfpv oh gosh, finally I got the right answer about current sensor on matek. Thanks pal!
Next time I'll pay more attention to the manual
Looks like I'm buying a bixlar
Can you share your pid values? I don't have a lot of space to do the autotune. And the default values don't work. Thanks.
I'm just using the stock pids, I haven't changed them at all
Giz FPV do you mostly fly in manual?
@@qiangli4022 About 50% Horizon mode and 50% airmode
Giz FPV I’m used to launch in angle mode, that’s why I rely on PID a lot. I’ll try horizon mode next time. Thanks.
Duck Tape!? Quak Quak!
Quick question, you don't need to be in DFU in iNav to Update?
Yeah you do. When ever uploading firmware you gotta be in dfu mode
Yes I thought so, I tried to go on dfu mode on my Matek F722 using the Impulse RC app, but it failed, then did it using CLI, it crashed. Finally held the bootloader button while pluggp in the USB, and nothing.
@@680production Try a different USB cable?
NVM, it seems I have to plug the battery in, which I never had to on this board when I started the build. Thanks for your help.
why did he removed the scl and sda cable? For what are the pins scl and sda?
SCL and SDA wires are for compass. A compass isn't needed on this build though which is why they were removed
thank you!
@@gizfpv Sir i have a problem with my asw-28. Im using the F411 FC, bn-880 GPS Module. I'm always flying my airplane in manual mode. Because everytime i switch to angle mode the plane would roll to the left and crash into the ground. I have calibrated my fc properbly when i fly leveled the crosshair is in the center. Is there a configuration tab where i can configure the center for the angle mode? I just hooked up my gps module i will try the nav alt hold, nav pos hold, nav rth. Or do you think this will end up in the same problem like the angle mode? Greetings from Germany! I love your content 🙏❤️
@@bigjenny7954 Is the arrow printed on the flight controller, facing towards the nose of the aircraft? If not, have you programmer inav to take that into account? As that would explain your problem
@@gizfpv The Arrow shows to the opposite direction youre right! Because of my cable managment i cant rewire everything. Can i programm that?
What is INAV ?
INAV is the software that's installed on the flight controller. There's various different software options for drones, but INAV is the best for planes
I have a SkySurfer sitting in a box, guess what's going into that...
Inav? I have the stratosurfer which is basically almost the same thing guess what's going in there? Lol
Yeah it's cheaper buying the kit with everything all together plus it can take someone 10mins instead of 30min
Great guide! It inspired me and I'm about to install F411 on the Bixler. I do not understand why he did the reverse of all the servos ... [ruclips.net/video/Pbs1Oflx48Y/видео.html] I miss the reason, why?
Hi my friend. Why a bixler? Strange choice...
Because it makes a great platform for carrying a full size Gopro. Should be able to get some nice and stable flight footage out of it :)
Why not......and because he can that's why. If you don't fpv you'll never understand
My choice for a stable and GoPro capable should be a Mini Talon. The best for me at the moment and it is gimbal capable....
@@SteffNael I used to have a Mini Talon, and it flew great. However it got destroyed and I didn't want to build another
