My first time watching this podcast. I enjoyed this video, Ghost is very articulate and entertaining (his sound effects were on point). I also like how he didn’t blame anyone for his past behaviour. I didn’t agree with some of the things the Somali guy said, like the comments about gentrification were dismissive but he was right about youth clubs aren’t the solution unless the approach is different. I’m a Christian but it’s good to see how Islam has helped Ghost be on the right path, wish him the best

I agree that a 13-15 yr can perform and partake in adult behaviour and acts however we can’t skip over the fact that a young teenager’s mind has still yet to fully develop regardless of how smart they may be. They are still very impressionable and can still be groomed by older people. In fact that’s a very susceptible age to try and groom a young child into such a lifestyle. The difference between a 15 year old minor and a 25 year adult is very different, the ability to comprehend the consequences of your actions are also very different.

Also agreed self responsibility is key to progression/growth as an individual and society too, whilst there may be a lack of understanding of certain consequences and realities as a younger unwise man, the free will and ability to make decisions are there. As a man you cannot put blame on others for how things turn out after 30-40 years of life. Like people who say I had a bad education, but then do not pick up a book for the next 20 years or educate themselves, then blame others for their position in life are simply making excuses imo. Or shift blame for their own errors, it is not how someone should act I agree self responsibility is key. The same way people will blame government, but never take much productive action in their own lives to understand the political system, monetary system etc or contribute to things to make a change within society. Whilst yes the government do do unjust things which is not a debate, it is up to us as people to make the right decisions for a better future and take action to change things. Everything within society other than the natural laws of creation itself, are the result of the actions of people, and society therefore is malleable or subject to change. With righteous self responsible people, trying to better society, change can happen. Not by shifting blame or responsibility for how things are then succumbing to fucked up situations via a lack of good action.

Very good to see an educated well thought out conversation here touching on some important topics i like it keep up the good work. Excuse the essay, but i think these things are important to discuss for human progression lol. I was out of SW london for a while, coming back to live this way I was like i just see a lot of middle class white people now, nice coffee places/restaurants etc and I also definitely do not see that as a bad thing lol. it is a nicer more welcoming environment to be in 100%.
I think it's correct to say it's like a plaster to the problem, other areas have suddenly become worse, you start moving a bit further out to the places a lot of people have been moved to and it's almost like hmm wagwan this used to be a nice/ok area feel like I'm back in south london 15 years ago lol now these places do not seem safe at all anymore, plus i think if anything it will accelerate the ability for crime to thrive for a while. You put savvy criminals into a more rural area, with a lack of cameras, a lot more open land spaces, storage possibilities, places that arent that busy with less witnesses, and increase the populations of the area with more low income people who have the potential/financial motivation to become involved in such things, and a hugely diminished police presence compared to london, it is far from a resolution to the problem of crime i think unless there's a greater plan at play e.g. more spaced out so easier to see abnormalities with certain technologies like infrared, light pollution, unusual traffic to secluded areas, certain forms of tracking/monitoring, lesser ability to blend due to smaller population etc etc etc. So i would assume the relocation would primarily be for financial reasons, but something like this longer term where crime can thrive a bit more, then it becomes more concentrated in certain places which would be easier to stamp/figure some things out in these areas, would also not surprise me.
With regards to this particular problem, not only does it allow london to become more of a haven for the wealthy, as lower income people get priced out - it will in turn probably also raise property prices if everything is deemed nicer/more affluent than before. Also as a side note, partly why I think the ULEZ scheme is now essentially creating a lot of more private roads by preventing people from driving down them-nothing to do with pollution, private roads increase property prices. In addition to this though, I do know certain roads in brixton near the town centre/main road this had happened to primarily for the reason of preventing shotters parking down side roads, so this is also a crime spotting/prevention thing. But back to finance, if you cannot afford to drive/work in london, you also get priced out. If people did not wish to sell the houses they owned, if they cannot afford to work/live they would have no other option essentially. It may also be seen to increase safety of the wealthy/appeal to investors by reducing the possibility of some types of more petty criminality occurring due to location. Really and truly this has been in motion for a long time so I'd probably assume there's a longer term agenda at play here. If AI becomes a thing, self service shops etc as were starting to see more of this in restaurants, new amazon shops, and a form of universal basic income comes into fruition as there are simply less jobs available so higher unemployment, old estates becoming sold off as trendier flats for "young professionals", you just may not see many less privileged people living in london at some point in the future if at all - but this last bit is just hypothetical lol. I do think essentially it's naive to assume the people wielding power making high level decisions in government/large corporations are naive/stupid as people like boris would make it seem like. These people are very intelligent/competent otherwise they would not have that position, and often are planning 10/20/30 years ahead, so people miss things along a longer time horizon and how things come together strategically, so worth bearing in mind that there is probably some form of long term agenda here. May just simply be financial once again though, inflation has been high for years since the 2008 financial crisis as that is when the excessive money printing economy took form, as well as stagnating economy in terms of real production, which has forced the selling of assets such as property by government to compensate, then business owners who now own the majority of land are doing things from the standpoint of how can things be crafted to make the most profit, hence things become more expensive and people also get displaced as land needs to be sold. But really could not say, may be many intertwining factors which coincide with one another.
I think as long as things such as wealth inequality, egotism related to money/status, incorrect values/education, poor support systems, government/corporate corruption, oppression/forms of modern day slavery and unequal opportunities etc exist - crime will always be a problem. It is not something that can ever be resolved due to location demographics, it is an underlying fundamental issue based upon moral education, values, culture, and principles, and it is necessary to change the psychology and actions of people to start doing things for the benefit of their fellow man as well as promoting not conformity, but rational realistic critical thinking. If you were to argue the source of most evil is greed, selfishness, and a lack of empathy, self control, understanding, patience, guidance, love etc. Then changing this mindset is the only way to prevent the factors that fuel the conditions for crime and corruption, as inequality/not governing for the sake of the people, as well as regular people taking advantage of others for personal gain, are all the result of this at it's core. This could be done via religion, as well as having a population intelligent enough to recognise fuckery occurring and understanding that moral principles actually make rational beneficial sense in the terms of life quality for everyone including the individual, and education in the tools of self discipline/control, e.g. fasting, meditation etc.
