What those people don't realize is that the VTEC transition from low cam to high cam is supposed to be smooth not violent like coming into boost from vaccum. The CORRECT way to tune a VTEC car is to run it on the dyno and set the crossover where the HP and TQ curves meet. On the smaller displacement engines, the TQ isn't there until a high RPM, so the crossover tends to be higher and more noticeable. The K24 makes gobs of low end torque that the smaller engines can't even dream to produce and therefore have a much lower and smoother crossover point. It all comes down to gearing. 6th gear isn't meant for acceleration on those cars. Otherwise they wouldn't have made it begin outside of vtec engagement. It's strictly an overdrive.
Mine can get to 136 before it hits the limiter..but my car has some electrical issues so that may be why, also was on a downslanted road. Love dem SI's
0-60 in 7.5 secs. Nice. My civic hybrid is 9.5 seconds, but its not because of it's lack of horsepower, it's the stupid cvt. They tend to slip so the engine is limited by the computer to prevent transmission slip.

To clarify the "correct" I had a similar dream. My advice: get an Si when you have had the chance to save up. Then learn to drive it - really drive it. Figure out something new every day. Change all of your fluids yourself, change the CMC, run Flash Pro, wrap the rims with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's, etc. (Personally, I don't drink the intake/exhaust Koolaid, but many do) Learn how to heel-toe to the point that it's reflexive. Run autocross and high performance driving events. Then, when you've saved up enough money to buy something fancier, you will know what you want and what to look for. In the meantime, you'll have a safe, reliable, fun car that zips around traffic - not because you're being dangerous - but because the car really is that nimble. Of course, that is predicated on having tires such as the A/S 3's. Don't start down the path to the aftermarket at least until you have good tires. And get an alignment program somewhere - the toe goes out by the time you pass 1000 miles. And of course, don't give up. The day will arrive that you drive an Si that's your own. Just don't let someone convince you to get a ninth gen. The last thousand rpm are worth it. Every day. No question in my mind.

Chances are that the parents made the decision for the EX for him, even if an Si could have been found cheaper because they didn't want their kid in a loud/fast car. It's also probable that said parents were envisioning the death trap also known as the Ford Mustang when they veto'd the Si. An Si and a Mustang are polar opposites. FWD vs. RWD. Cornering vs. Straight Line. V8 vs. I4. Etc. But, that doesn't change the perception of the automotive-impaired, so there ya have it
Good job at violating a bunch of driving laws while making this video. A cop would of been able to give you quite a bit of points if you got caught driving 135MPH with a handheld on your hands. Please be careful on the road. Sweet car on the other hand. The SI has a nice amount of horsepower to it and the trim is beautiful.
All these commenters don't know, Honda from this era set a speed limiter at 133/134 with a soft fuel cut limiter. My 6-6 accord I used to own had way more guys than a Civic SI, but would also slow right down at 130-134. Remove the limiter and see what happens.
