In the opening I say they are located in Orange, CA. I meant to say Orange County. Thanks y'all!
Have you been to Dog Park In San Clemente? Epic trails, jumps and Man made features.
Check out Flash Flood (the ending is the exact ending of waterworks)
Will do!
Not in a looong time.
Ok! It’s fun but I think the other trails are better!
Glad you finally made it out to Ladera Ranch. Great riding Tony! 💯🔥🤙🏻
Thanks!
I love these trails! These are the closest ones to where I live. I totally recommend hitting the jumps that are located to the right of the Spitfire trail. Amazing video!
I’ll keep my eyes open!😉
@@TheOutsiderMTB welp they are gone now 😭
These trail system are really nice. It’s a short fun flowy twisty single track and the climbs aren’t bad at all. So many of them hidden need to be explore. Glad you had a great time Tony!
Thanks!
Thanks for the vid. Just went today to check it out and wow what a surprise! Really enjoyed them with your help.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ya, What took you so long? That's ok, we still love you! FYI Ladera is pronounced La-dair-a. Just helping you out. Yes, there about 5 more loops you can take there. Lastly, the County made a new entrance for Water Works off Antonio just past where you parked that's a better start to the trail than the way you got there.
Cheers!
Good stuff thanks Doug!
Best way to loop forsure! First 1/4 of waterworks is so underrated.
Haha glad I read this. I’ve been here for a few years and just had a ‘oh shit I’ve been saying Ladera wrong this whole time’ moment
That’s awesome you made it out to Ladera! I worked near there for twelve years there are so many trails you can loop together just in that area. Good times I will have to get back out there soon!
Nice Tim - looking forward to learning the system.
That’s an awesome feeling to find awesome trails close to home. I just discovered super fun trails so close to me at Calero reservoir recently. Ride on👍
Right on!
Whew, the unknown brought a lot of neat surprises! You’re still very agile, T. Loved the initial peek at Puper Pip ( and Heather, too).
Yay, thank you!
This looks like so much fun, I'll have to check it out!
Nice video like always showing new trails keep up the great work
👊✔️👍
I’m heading there tomorrow! Thanks for your great videos. Hit Santiago Oaks today using your loop. Great time
Rock on!
Rage is my favorite dh in all of Ladera its super fun!
Great old school vid. Thanks for the info!
You bet!
These trails look cool! I'm bringing my Trek Roscoe 6 from London and will be checking this place out
Awesome video! Will have to check that place out asap.
✔️👊
Those trails look so sick!
So fun man! 👍
Best time to ride there Saturday or Sunday!
I'm new to California I really appreciate all the places you go you're showing me some cool stuff hope to see you on the trail sometime
Welcome aboard!
As a new rider, love Spitfire, and Waterworks!! Love Rage too, but it pushes my bike to the limits! Thanks for the content!
Right on!
Awesome ride, awesome family buddy!
Thanks 👍
Ladera ridge, waterworks, spitfire, and flash flood (right there) are some of my fav trails
Nice - I'll check out flash flood next time.
@@TheOutsiderMTB Yep you missed that one. Machete is badass too!
Sounds like my current video... 45 minutes plus Escalator and Firepole....LOL there is just so much riding here.
wow, awesome trails!!
Glad you like them!
water works and spitfire are my local trails. finally you rode them!
So fun!
These look amazing!!!
So Fun!
I haven't been on a board in decades and I still look at everything through those lenses. Nice ride, I didn't know it was even there.
👊👍
Lol i live right next to this trail I ride it every weekend thanks for coming to my community man!
Any time!
Finally in my backyard. Nice video.
✔️👊
I don’t live in OC but when I come I crank as much time on the trails there as I can!!! Great vid!!
Thanks 👍
I'm going here on my next ride! Great video as always! Until next week 🤙🏼
Get it thanks Mike!
There is so much riding right here...Enjoy
I'm glad you enjoyed the place. It has good flow and the climbs are not bad at all. Everything was built, so you could climb it, so it gives you a lot of options.
Tptally agree - very well built.
@@TheOutsiderMTB There are a couple new ones out there now. Pounder and Hot flash. Pounded is super new so it will need another year. Pounder and pounded are 2 different trails.
Hey brother, if it wasn't for you I would have missed it on allot of amazing rides. I just had a fused neck surgery and this is definitely going to be my first ride back in action. Thanks man would love to ride with you someday.
Love hearing that and get well soon Jay!
I'm new to mtb, this channel is great. You're not to far from SFV, & can actually travel to the places you show us. Thx
Love that - so many options. Happy shredding!
Thanks for another great video
I'm gonna check it out monday
Hope you enjoy it!
@@TheOutsiderMTB thanks tony
I heard there are some shady trails
on the other side of oso
Check out the area for sure.
Flash flood is another good one to hit. I only was introduced to this area recently too. Flash flood was a favorite of the guy who introduced me.
I’ll check it out!
Damn, surprised I didn't see you out there.
And that waterworks trail has that double jumps? Wow! Got to check that out!
✔️👍
Went on my first ride today with friends and they ended up taking me here. Was surprised cause I didn’t know where we were going and then I recognized it lol.
Nice!
Hey bro! Have you ever done Dog Park in San Clemente? There are some epic trails with jumps some man made features. Really cool loop trail reminds me of a big version of Ladera. Happy to show you the trails..
I’ve been. Planning to go back soon!
Hey Tony, This is Alex, I met you in the Snow Summit parking lot today at the end of the day. (I was wearing a Hornitos Tequila Jersey.. I should have told you that I mountain bike in San Diego all the time and I'm very familiar with the trails. If you ever want to come down I would be happy to show you some of my favorite spots. Your riding is badass man, keep up the good work! See you around!
Hey Thanks Alex! Appreciate that and yes I do need to hit SD soon. Sounds good!
Talk about highlighting a hidden gem stoked on this one
Me too bud.
I feel like a bad friend when I pop on and you have changed jobs 🙈 knew that you had the skateboard shoes thing going. 🤯 hopefully you’re doing what you love
Haha all good. Currently unemployed but happy. ✔️👍😊
Tony, finally riding in my my town! Water works is a fun lil rail system...
Yup totally agree!
@@TheOutsiderMTB you missed a couple of technical ones that are actually inside of the main water works loop.. Then across OSO Pkwy we have MACHETE which is a fun lil tech trail.. Still lots to explore.. Let me know and I'll join you and show you around.. I live down the street from it...
Glad you like our local trails!! Lots of hard work!! Hope to see you out there as I’m there a few days a week. Let’s hook up and make some great footy!!
So fun - see you out there bud! ✔️👍
The Outsider MTB yes sir!! Saw your buddy @mtbalan Friday at summit talked him and asked why you weren’t tagging along!! Stoked to have high quality content from a couple locals 👏🏻👊🏻💪🏻
Amazing video! Thank you for recording these trails! It helps us noobs to mtb so much!
Question: is there an app or website to show where to find these trails? Im very new to mtb and need help finding trails to ride.
Check the link in my description. Trailforks and MTB Projects are two apps you need for sure.
Pretty cool network of trails. I gotta get.out there sometime
Yup - I'll be back here soon for sure.
Love that area.
Same!
Hey Tony. Yea Ladera Ranch has a ton of trails. I'm not a jumper but the trails are endless. If you like trail riding there is Plumbers Crack & Flash Flood where you came out of Water Works & they start on your right side. Plumbers Crack is really nice (no jumps) trail riding. Then a little further north is a couple more very nice trails. You can take the trails on the south side of the creek. Take DG to Rim Underpass to Tijeras Creek to Ripper. Stay on the trails on the edge of the creek. You can also take Machete which is the most tech trail, it is fun going up & down. I've been riding the Arroyo Trabuco Trial (Oso to O'neil park) for 3 or 4 years and just discovered these very cool trails hidden in the trees.
p.s. If you stay left going down Spite Fire it takes you on a couple of really nice single track back to the road. pm me at pc.1950@yahoo.com if you want to explore more of this area
Great info and thanks John!
Such a fun place! That chute jump is no joke. I tried it my first day learning to jump and it instantly humbled my hubris. Why does that sound like an innuendo? ✌🏼🤟🏼
Haha - I'm looking to get back out there soon. Hope you're hubris is back on track!
You finally found it!
Yup!
Best place to learn and build your mtb skills
True that!
Try these:
Keep left on Spitfire and take it all the way to the end
Go up Flash Flood (Waterworks and Flash Flood's exits connect so it's easy to find)
Go a bit further north to Las Flores and hit Machete to Ripper
Will do good buddy.
Still waiting for that hulda crooks vid dude :)
😉
Keep it up! You've given me a list and a half of stuff I'm dying to hit. I just cant find a bike Im lookin for, Im after a trek Marlin 7, everywhere is outta bike with Rona, its driving me nuts. Already ordered my helmet, ordering a bike rack for the prius that I can use on the Burb too. This is torture.
See you out there - hang in there man!
We’ve always just called it Waterworks...Whatever you want to call it, it’s fun!
Agreed!
Just to reinforce the “Go Pro Effect” - that chute you turned around and showed is STEEP in person 😂
Ha yup!
Go to waterworks trail in ladera easy but super fun
I’ve hit that big 30 to 40 ft gap and it absolutely launches you very fun but kind of sketchy
some of the goods at the beginning of fire that got bulldozed previously are back!
Of fire?
These trails have been ridden by the locals for years. Experts, novices, kids all ride here. They all take care and maintain the trails. A real hidden gem for all riders. Enjoy!
I can totally see that Mike. So fun!
Dude I ride there like every day !!!
Nice!
Awesome! It's a great place to ride.
Cool trails, I've got trail envy. Wish I had more flow and less jank 🤙🏻
Yeah can’t wait to ride these again. 👍
As soon as I saw that red curb - I took a dump in my pants too. Dont blame ya xD
you gotta ride sullivian ridge and the west LA TRAILs
you should try going to cross mtb trails in murrieta, there’s no official trail there but there is a nice network and a pretty good jump line. to find it it is just a big hill next to alamos elementary school
Cool I didn't know about that one.
Just finished riding that loop
Rage and spitfire were good
Next time I will hit waterworks going downhill
Have fun!
Question Tony.. how did you get so knowledgeable of trail systems, where to park, how to get back if trail doesn't loop back ect... also, how long it take you to get in climbing shape? Thanks for your time Tony, love the vids!😎🤘
I’d say just throwing myself into the areas and accepting getting lost or making mistakes at first. I study the rides/loops before I go as well. Trailforks and mtb projects are huge in navigating. Climbing shape takes consistency. I’ve been riding park the last few weeks so I know climbing is Going to be tough. It goes away if you’re not actively doing it.
Awesome! Thanks for the tips Tony!! Been studying different trial routes, your vids, and the MTB project as well.. time to go get lost! Thanks for taking the time to answer ✌
Nice ride. Will check it out. Looks like your Strava ride link goes to your profile instead of the ride details.
Thanks - yeah that’s cuz Strava timed out on this one. The other app links should do you good. 👍
Hey dude whats up i saw you the other day at waterworks i was the one on the red trek.
Hey - good stuff man - I remember. 👍
i rid there today so fun.
just wanted to let you know that there is a top drop into waterworks off antonio that has some rollers and big berms
Awesome thanks Enzo.
I'll comment later. I'm on a ride!
I live 10 min from there and I hadn't heard of it. I ride 3 days a week and I need new spots. I'm going right away especially since Whiting is closed for MTN lions.
Get it!
David Landrigan better be in shape ! ☠️
Don't you see all of us with bikes on our racks or while pedaling up Oso or Antonio?...I have lived here my entire life and I am always amazed at all the trails we have.
How do you secure your bike in the garage? Do you have them locked and some recommendation?
I knew my local trails would make it into your channel eventually!
That's awesome! They're great!
Water works is a good place to get some laps in if you live close and don't have a lot of time. It is also good for setting up your shocks. :) I lack the confidence to do the jumps though. I scrub them because for some reason, every time I become airborne I crash really bad.
Skills clinic?
I'm looking forward to getting back out here and learn the trails more. Good stuff Ben.
The jumps are scary even being as small as they are. It's not a bike park...I find this area a bit too flowy for setting up my fork/shock. Even the rocks on Machete aren't enough to really make it work. I used a shockwiz and 1 run on Lynx gave it 100% confidence....
Awesome video! How is the Remedy? We totally need an update video
Loving it - not much new to report other than that. Ha!
The trail with the 'huge' jump you found is called balls steep. Wish you had found that one
Maybe next time - good to know Matt.
It's the only real steep trail in the area, but it definitely can add a bit of flavor to a ride here.
Great content! Rode these trails yesterday, thanks to your video. Question: Whats your solution to the chesty GoPro mount angle? Mine is great when I am sitting but when I stand up it faces down too much. If I fix one it affects the other. Yours are always right. How do you do it?
Thanks! Try using superview if you aren’t. It widens it all up so you usually are keeping things in line.
The Outsider MTB thanks that helped a lot. Angle is still not optimal for sitting and standing, but better.
Here’s a sample. Sitting all is framed well, standing it’s tilted down. Thinking about putting a foam wedge under my chesty mount but that would make the sitting parts too high. Maybe my geometry is just different from yours. I seem to recall a comment from one of your early vids about your mounting method. Maybe I’m wrong ...
ruclips.net/video/PiJfHC6ZcuQ/видео.html
@@AlanzFPV It's a crap shoot. Once you find an angle you like, you should mark it on the mount. I find I use a different angle for pedaling vs. standing, and then an even steeper angle if it's really steep. I also think the preferred view is different from person to person.
Get over to San Clemente single tracks!
Will do!
Just did Rage for the first time yesterday. The go-pro effect is real... It's always steeper in real life.
I keep saying that hahah - so true!
Rage will catch you if you're not careful. Someone got airlifted off Rage a couple months ago.
@@BobbyThunderbird Unfortunately, the airlift happens often here...
@@MTBMOR I know, I ride WW a lot. It's mostly the young ones on the big jumps at the beginning of Spitfire. Seen at least 3 big accidents.
Hey man, wicked videos and I must say.. that bike is hella nice . I have been thinking about getting it.. do you still love it or have any feedback??
I really like it - very well balanced.
yo i love waterworks
bike there almost everyday
Good stuff!
awesome vid! ladera is always fun👍🤘
You got that right!
You should host your group rides there!
We'll see!
Just started mtbing about two months ago. Got my first entry level Specialized. Love your channel and positive energy. I hope to one day be as good as you hitting these trails.
Welcome aboard!
Took you long enough to find this place. You should also look into the Dog Park in San Clemente
Been there - I will be back soon.👍
the steep chute that you call a feature is actually a trail, it comes off of the top somewhere...when I was building it, there was no top trail and usually you had to hike up the trail then go down it (do not recommend)
Ahhhh good to know! I’ll check that out next time and thanks for the trail work. 👊
Thanks for another awesome vid! Am I missing the Strava link to this ride?? I see the Strava link to your account...
Strava glitched our but the mtb projects link is my ride.
@@TheOutsiderMTB road this on your recommendation last weekend - glad we did! Thanks again!
@@lorivalesko3407 NICE!
@@TheOutsiderMTB Many of my friends have issue with Strava here too.... I know the canyon is a difficult spot for the GPS
"Its super Bermy" -Outsider 2020
Damn right! Haha 😉
That should be a t-shirt.
100%
Dope
👊
You should go to spit fire jumps
Planning on it!
Welcome to the sickness us southern OCers love.
Thanks!
Cool trail! Are ebikes allowed here?
I think so!
Would you suggest enduro or all-mountain tire for SoCal trails like this? Or would I be fine riding blue trails with an xc tire? This place looks perfect for my current skill level, thanks! Do you think you can also check out the trails in Temecula & Calabasas at some point?
I think I'd leave the xc tires off these trails. Yeah I'll look into them for sure!
@@TheOutsiderMTB Thank you. I guess it's time to switch to trial tires. I just personally prefer trails like this cause I get worried I'd slip.
@@TheOutsiderMTB I saw a video with Mo Awesome where a guy just flat out railed the San Juan Trail on Maxxis Rekons. Very similar dry and loose conditions. Since Rekons roll faster than DHF and DHR tires, any thoughts?
It says on MTB project it's advanced but it looks beginning friendly right? Flowy and you can choose the jumps?
Exactly.
@@TheOutsiderMTB thanks!! Good to know. I threw myself down monk dawg and it was sketch, I only been riding 2 months on trails (bmx'd back in the day thou)
Climbs are good! More climbs! Strava this one so I can steal your gpx file!
There are so many people riding Ladera....I'm sure you can find a few.
Check my mtb projects link. That’s the loop.
@@TheOutsiderMTB Perfect, thank you Tony!
Pretty cool little spot. Looks empty until those meddling kids showed up. Lol 😃
Them darn youngsters! 🤣
It's getting more crowded out there since the pandemic. The kids always like to stop and hang out in that double jump section.
@@shortstuff9990 I almost ended up with a shovel to the face there when the digger suddenly moved at the last second....They could be doing much worse things so I am happy (sometimes) to see them out there.
I wish i could do a crank flip as casually as that
Me too!
Do waterworks it is in ladera and super close to the one you just rode
I rode waterworks in this video.
@@TheOutsiderMTB sorry I was blanking out
