Using and a foot loop aider I’ve been able to add 18 to 24 inches of height per transition which saves me an entire transition by the time I get to 20 feet.
That means I only have to set my stick three times rather than four and only sit against the tree, reach down and grab my stick, etc twice.
For me, it’s a GAME CHANGER!!
Let me know how it goes for you and if you have any questions.
As always, make sure to be safe and have some fun!
Here is the video of me actually climbing like this to 20ft 7in while only moving the stick twice:

Or just get a three or four step aider. I don’t put my stick under my tether. I put the top of my stick an inch or two below my tether. I get 20-22ft with the ground set and two moves.
Thanks! Ya, I did another video with an aider that is better.
Thanks for the idea!!
You are most welcome! This video shows an actual climb: ruclips.net/video/WXx1AtyrfiE/видео.html&lc=UgyDXao0g4nJVwCceQ94AaABAg Happy Hunting!
Am I missing something? You haven't actually gone up whatsoever. Only the stick moved. And how do you get your foot onto the stick?
Great idea. Thank you for the video.
Thanks Jeff! The 2.0 video shows a full climb as well. Have a great hunting season!
My one stick method is more efficient and less strenuous than any I have seen period. Can gain 6 feet per stick move with stick and single aider together 40 inches in length. I do not lean down and remove stick from tree. Requires no additional equipment or cam cleat attached to stick. Two stick moves I am 18 feet. Stick needs a standard button to use my method. I am 62 years old and heigth is 5 ft 8 inches.
Hey Bobby, Nice!!! Do you have a video? I'd be interested it seeing how you do it. I'm always eager to learn and improve!
Bobby I’m very curious as well would love to see a video..
@@rockysnell6439 I use webbing and attach stick using slip knot. I dont have to reach down to disconnect stick from tree. I keep end of webbing attached to me so I can pull slip knot loose. I place toe on top step prior to pulling to prevent stick scraping on tree when pulling upwards. Then place toe under step when I let slack in webbing to get it from under button. I then pull stick up to me.
I didn't know RUclips comments had actual wisdom
One word, .... " Aider "
Yes, I still use an aider. This wasn't a climb, just trying to show the foot strap & transition. Full climb here: ruclips.net/video/WXx1AtyrfiE/видео.html
Have you looked into having another tether with a foot loop?
You can literally forget the stick and climb to hunting height with just two tethers and a linemans belt.
Yes, I've tried that and prefer one sticking myself
Just ordered my first saddle. Been doing a LOT of reading of reviews and watching of reviews. Methods, saddles, platforms etc. And even after seeing this, I can't fathom how this would be any quicker or efficient than just adding a 3 step aider to the platform? I'm genuinely curious because I want to be as efficient and minimalist as possible. Great video. 👍
Here is a video of me actually climbing. ruclips.net/video/JWXWujGHz-8/видео.html It saves me at least one transition every time I climb. It work that way because I am able to set the stick higher each time. 7-14-21ft rather than 7-12-17-22ft. Does that make sense?
What saddle did you get?
I prefer to just use a platform as well. This was just a one-sticking example. Video of the platform climb coming soon
@@mobilehunterfitness2139 thanks for the replies. I'm obviously new to the saddle world. I pre ordered the Crüzr Archon. Gives me the option if lower lumbar support (which I know I'm gonna need), and the option of running it as a single panel.
@@averageoutdoorsman9342 Right on! I pre-ordered one of those as well. I really like the XC, but am excited to try out the Archon. If you have any questions feel free to ask! Happy Hunting!
You didn't mention how long you made this "Tether Aider" if you will. Something about chin high. (It is adjustable) So I made one about same to try out with my two step aider. (All two step aider allows you to have both hands on the stick when your climbing.)
Thanks for the comment Brian. I see you saw the other videos as well. Hopefully I'll improve as I go. The Tether Aider I use goes to about the middle of my chest. About 57" for me.
Is there a backup In case you drop the stick
Some guys put a piece of paracord, Or keep an open carabiner to tie to your bow rope if you need to go fishing
It really doesn't seem any faster or more efficient than just using a 3 step aider. And, that extra step doesn't appear to be 18-20 inches. But, ok. Everyone has their preferred methods. But, you should definitely think about adding a platform atop your stick. It really helps.
Hey Jimmy, I don't use this stick for one sticking, I was just practicing climbing with my son and had it with me. Here is a video of me getting over 20ft with 2 transitions. ruclips.net/video/JWXWujGHz-8/видео.html I'll be posting a better one soon. Not for everyone, but because it haves me a transition every time I climb I am enjoying it. All the best to you!
Where can a guy get his hands on an ansteel aider like this?
Hey Joshua, Are you in Canada or the US?
@saddlehunting this is the video I was talking about.
Moving something twice in that short distance does not equal faster it equals more time
@@michaelflowers6048 If you watch the video in the description of me actually climbing it will make more sense. This was just to show close up how you can set the stick high, eliminating more transitions. Transitions = noise and time. Less transitions = better climbing from my perspective. But, this is not for everyone. If you have another way that works well for you and you enjoy, keep having fun and enjoy the outdoors.
I'm just saying a one stick with a 3 step attached aider & cam cleat is a lot faster
@@michaelflowers6048 Yes, I agree. That's what I'm doing in the climbing video. This was all about the stick placement.
You should try adding an 18 inch Aider to the stick. That will be faster and less hassle adjusting your foot loop Prusic. Same concept except the aider is always attached to the stick.
Hey Will, Check out the 2.0 version in the description. I do use an aider but this first video was to show specifically how you can get more height per move. I can get over 21ft and only do 2 transitions this way. Happy Hunting!
@@mobilehunterfitness2139 I will check it out now. Over 21feet is impressive with two moves. One sticking is an amazing method. Are you strictly a mobile hunter or do you have preselected spots as well? If you have preselected spots you should check out the no stick method with preset paracord, a rock guard, foot loop and rope. It will change your life forever! Only good for non mobile hunting though. NY Saddle Hunter has good videos on it.
@@mobilehunterfitness2139 I checked out your other video. I am going to give the foot loop a try seeing how well it works with the aider on the stick. Thanks for sharing the video.
@@willm5998 Yes, SRT is great! I have a few spots pre-set on my property with steps or sticks and then will have some paracord set up on a property I have permission on. Climbing SRT is what gave me the idea for this. The boys for NY Saddle Hunter are a great resource for sure! I suck at throwing the throw ball so often do this to get up the tree the first time.
@@willm5998 You are most welcome!
What are those shoes
Lol. I don't even remember now. They weren't very good so got rid of them, but were just some I got on sale sometime
They looked nice haha
Lone wolf hand climber for a platform is way easier for me good luck this season
Right on. I know a number of guys like that method. I hope you have a great season as well!
Man I tried a ton of different ways to carry sticks and I couldn’t find any that was comfortable. I hunt pubic in sc and walk a long ways.
@@chadreid1068 Ya, I hear ya. Finding the system that works for you is a big key. It's nice being able to have your platform and climbing system be one and the same for sure!
To much more to mess with. I can tell you from watching this and your other video that you ain't faster then us. I been one sticking 3.5 yrs this coming season. BTW theirs no way I'd use a daisy chain for one sticking. Hardly ever any kick outs with sticks until they started using daisy chains. The best to use is a cam cleat. Period.
Lol. Agreed, I have a cam cleat now (version 2.0 video) and it works much better. Ya, I have no doubt that you are much faster than me. I hadn't liked one sticking before this and hardly used it at all. With all your experience you could lap me no problem.
Make another tether like that and throw the stick away.
Same as an aider on a stick then. Lol
Lol. Not really. This video shows it better: ruclips.net/video/WXx1AtyrfiE/видео.html It's all about being able to set your stick higher and do less transitions. I still use a 2 step aider on my stick.
I’d like to recommend the ultimate one stick with a UP platform from Eastern Woods Outdoors bro.
You’ll fly up a tree.
I’ll be doing a video here soon as soon as I get a bird on the ground.
@@theMobileHuntersEXPO Right on! Ya, it looks pretty sweet! Tag me when you post it as I have been seriously considering getting it.
