Easier One-sticking version 2.0
Version 2.0 of “25% Easier One-Sticking” for Saddle Hunters.
I made some adjustments based on some of your feedback and it has improved the system and lowered the “finicky factor”.
Using this method I’ve been able to get 20+ ft with only two transitions utilizing the foot loop aider. By adding 18 to 24 inches of height per transition, it saves me an entire transition by the time I get to 20 feet.
I hope it helps some of you out.
Check your gear, be safe and have some fun!

    I just ordered my first set of Saddle Hunt and Gear So I’m definitely not an expert not even a novice yet but I’ve been climbing tree stands for 25 years, after watching this video I did not like the way those extra rope was hanging around your feet just a matter of time till you get hung up in the dark and at height, I haven’t tried it but it seems like an extra complicated method for one more move to get an extra two or 3 feet, appreciate you posting it though always love to learn

    Or just get a three or four step aider. I don’t put my stick under my tether. I put the top of my stick an inch or two below my tether. I get 20-22ft with the ground set and two moves.

      Practice definitely helps! I actually find it helps newbies because it takes 1-2 transitions away, which are what take most of the time. I am not all that great at 1 sticking to be honest. Should get daisy chains tighter for sure. They can cause kik outs. Also when you climb up on aider toes should stay against tree. At one point you have your toes out to right and aider pushing out to right. If stick kicks out while moving tether out it won't be good. BTW this will not get one any higher than any one stick method. Only thing that limits you is length of rappel rope.

    Got an idea. What if you made a 2' tether aider and put it on your tether just below your bridge? Then you could use it on your first stick (from ground) and on all subsequent stick attachments. Theoretically you would gain 20" on each stick installation and you could leave the short tether aider on the tether. (As long as you are repelling back down) Just an idea...

  • @brianbennett8445
    @brianbennett8445 3 года назад

    Much better video than previous two. In my opinion, even with a 3 step or a 5 step aider you can not reach up high enough to put the stick up under the tether. So you lose 18" on each move. This means you have to move the stick up more times to get the full advantage. All depends on how long your arms are and how many times you want to move the stick...

    • @mobilehunterfitness2139
      @mobilehunterfitness2139 3 года назад

      Thanks! I'm glad i'm improving! Yes, I agree. The height the tether is set is the limiting factor on height per transition. This way I am able to set my stick right below it every time.

    This is what I was looking for. Last video did not show the two step aider. You still need to clarify the "tether aider" length so guys can make their own. Otherwise, this is a fantastic method. You can grab your stick when climbing. Can't beat the two step aider! No foot sliding... Thanks for sharing. And good job.

    You didn't mention how long you made this "Tether Aider" if you will. Something about chin high. (It is adjustable) So I made one about same to try out with my two step aider. (All two step aider allows you to have both hands on the stick when your climbing.)

      Thanks for the comment Brian. I see you saw the other videos as well. Hopefully I'll improve as I go. The Tether Aider I use goes to about the middle of my chest. About 57" for me.

    Are you climbing with your tether w/ a ropeman1 and switching to rappelling rope to come down? ?

      Yes, I am. I prefer to climb that way. My repelling gear is in my side pouch.

    Just get a 3 step aider

    • @mobilehunterfitness2139
      @mobilehunterfitness2139 3 года назад

      I have one. That aider doesn't really matter as it's being able to set the stick higher which gets me more height per transition. 7-14-21ft rather than 7-12-17-22ft. I can set the standoff directly underneath my tether placement so get full reach every time.

    Do you need to disconnect the aider ? Or can u just move the prusic knot ?

    • @mobilehunterfitness2139
      @mobilehunterfitness2139 3 года назад

      You don't have to disconnect. I just don't want it to catch on one of the steps or something so I personally do. And then I have the prusic set where I want it each time. It only takes a second to clip/unlclip. In version 1.0 I left it attached to the prusic and then put my foot through the foot loop, but like this way better. Let me know which way you prefer.

    I will haft to try it all about less moves.

      Yeah, for sure! Only having to do 2 makes one-sticking a viable option for me. I didn't like doing 3 or 4. Hope you have fun with it!

    Love this idea. What did you use for a swaider?

    • @mobilehunterfitness2139
      @mobilehunterfitness2139 3 года назад

      It's just a piece on amsteel with a double foot loop (to spead the weight out and make it more comfortable) and a castration band. It comes up to the middle of my chest, so about 54" or so.

      @@mobilehunterfitness2139 excellent. I love the insane simplicity yet applicability of this. I bought an extra carabiner just in case and now I'm glad I did.
