It makes me sad going back and watching Ron Paul in those GOP debates from years ago. He was absolutely SPOT ON about the Global War on Terror, and how that was going to continue to unfold. It literally cemented a never-ending and unwinnable military conflict. Wastes trillions of dollars on the backs of the American Taxpayers, and costs millions of lives to be lost unnecessarily.

@@asif9t9you're half right. I guarantee most libertarians are more willing to read philosophical works on their ideology. They are much more involved, and are much more passionate about their principles than any talking head who might represent nothing but the frustrations of whichever side they align with. I think the party should dedicate their resources to state and local elections, and lobbying and education on the federal level. It's played it's course, and they can do much better at growing organically than whatever the fuck they're trying to do.

I realize how controversial this sounds, but wouldn't the net positive of breaking the two party system with electing Kennedy overshadow his unfortunate stance on Israel'? If there's no viable candidate that will end these war crimes, shouldn't we at least choose the option that at least breaks this corrupt duopoly? Not to mention all the other positive America first policies, unraveling corrupt agencies, and other sound policies Kennedy supports, which I think are also being overlooked (understandably so) by the topic Israel.

Yes, I think RFK Jr.'s stance on Israel/Palestine is bad, and that the quote from him is indeed ridiculous. But, unfortunately, it's also the status quo, and Trump/Biden are no better on this issue. However, I think RFK Jr. is substantially better than those two on a lot of other issues, and he's a serious contender to fight against the Democrats and Republicans. I also want the duopoly to have opposition, so that we can actually get real change in the rigged political system. I know I can't have a perfect candidate, but RFK Jr. is way better than the nonsense that the Democratic and Republic machines always churn out.

I disagree, the Libertarians will never be a serious contender. They all have (to varying degrees) a fundamental core problem that makes them Libertarians in the first place. That flaw is "to be a unified party, you have to allow someone else to dictate a decision to you that you disagree with at least some time'. I don't agree with my political party 100% of the time, so there are some decisions it makes I have to accept. That is diametrically opposed to what "Libertarians stand for". I'm not saying they're right or wrong in this/that political stance, but to be unified you have to be in a collective of sorts, and that's not what they're about.

@charlesparent-spioneck9928 I'm assuming you are asking me. For me voting for RFK is heavily based on his willingness to take on the beauracracy and by extension begin reducing the debt. Biden shows no interest in doing this. Trump talked about draining the swamp but got rolled by Fauci into shutting down our country. Kennedy seems by far the most likely candidate with a viable path to election to stand by the bill of rights against future shut downs. On the military front Biden has added Ukraine to our long list of military expenses and upped money to Israel. Trump again got rolled by the military industrial complex and while he didn't add any new wars he didn't get us out of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and the other million spots we have troops and proxy wars. Kennedy would get us out of Ukraine. Based on the murders of his father and uncle I see him as the most distrustful of the military industrial complex.
For me I am pro Palestinian, pro Isreal, anti Hamas, anti Netanyahu. Mostly though I am pro my country (USA) and wish we would quit blowing money we don't have on wars that are none of our business. I hope that makes sense to you and wish you the best and hope you'll consider voting for RFK

Additionally, he has openly expressed affection for the Palestinian people with whom he's actually spent time in the region and is explicit in targeting Hamas as the root of the conflict, as well as laying out in considerable academic detail the geopolitical history of the region to support what to him is a strongly moral position. Again, I think he needs to readjust his thinking in terms of his approach to dealing with the conflict if he were to become POTUS, but I also think the criticism leveled at him is often a knee-jerk response to some specific language he's used without arms-length consideration of the full context of his position.

Ron Paul-ish lowercase libertarian here. I like RFK a lot as a candidate and respect the hell out of him, but I’ll be voting for Trump in November. It makes zero sense to me that the LP practically boos Trump off the stage, and then nominates a woke, lefty-libertarian as their candidate. Wtf? They literally would’ve done better to nominate Vermin Supreme.
[Edited to Add] Where I break with Dave Smith (i.e. why I’d willingly vote for Trump or RFK when he wouldn’t) is because I’m a non-interventionist - not a pacifist. My #1 issue isn’t war and peace abroad, it is domestic policy for our own citizens and our liberties. It is enough for me for us to not meddle in the affairs of other countries and to not fund coups or foreign wars. Love him or hate him, Trump is the first president in my lifetime to not get us engaged an any overseas conflicts. That’s enough for me. I love Dave, but he irks me his foreign policy positions sometimes. There’s nothing inconsistent about being pro-Ukraine and pro-Israel (they *were* the ones who were attacked after all), while also believing we have no duty to fund these countries’ defenses. I can believe that America’s foreign policy and forever wars indeed turn other nations against us without wholesale accepting Hamas and Putin propaganda.

@@RogerCampbell-lf1gt Right. It’s long been clear that our election system has been hijacked by a two party system who more or less choose our representatives for us. We all know it’s bullshit. But the lawfare practiced against Trump represents an even further step towards a totalitarian dystopia where one party essentially rules uncontested over everything. Only one party is blatantly trying to keep other parties’ candidates off of the ballot - the Democrats have conspired to keep both Trump and RFK Jr. off of ballots, are denying RFK Jr. Secret Service protection despite his obviously elevated security risk, and are now literally trying to jail their political opposition to prevent his election. At what point is it reasonable to call this an attempted coup?

I'm sorry, I do understand opposing RFK's stance on Israel. I don't agree with him there, but he's so much better on many other points. While I think he phrased it poorly, I think his core statement around the Palestinians being the most pampered was referring to how much aide we have provided over time. It's a very nuanced situation, terrible things have been done by both sides and he has stated that he would focus on stopping the war. Biden and Trump are also very pro-Israel. So, I'd rather look at someone who, for the most part, is open-minded, will research and change his mind, cares about the health of the people, cares about doing something about the national debt, and so many other points that other candidates don't even mention. There is no perfect candidate, and there never will be. His speech at the Libertarian Convention was inspiring. I can't say that inspiring comes to mind when I hear president Biden or Trump speak.

He was concise and clear about how he would accomplish goals that furthered those principles, and knew what the party was about. Trump said a few coached buzz words, and key phrases that seemed to be generated from a word cloud. The reason he got booed was because everyone there saw thru his phony pandering.
