Hi both, it was interesting to hear what you spent. We would definitely want to do the Hamburg trip and want the Internet package but it was really expensive so would have to think about getting that ! Premier Inn was a good price though with breakfast and all in what you had it seemed a good price for the total 9 days and it sounded like you enjoyed it 😃👍~ Anna
Just got off Iona, best weeks holiday weve ever had, cost wise, £749 each for fare, £80 for night in Premier Inn Gosport, we spent approx £525 o excursions, drink, night in Limelight club extra cost, Beach House extra for meal, £140 for Gin experience which was brill. We booked Stavanger Fyord trip, 3 half hours, in Kiosk on the quay, half what PO wanted, for 2 £117, giftshop. We thought great value and wonderful memories. Biggest tip, dont book excursion thru PO, do it when you arrive on land in port, so much cheaper, happy sailing!
Lodging, food, drinks, travel and entertainment..what a bargain! Your videos of P&O really sparked our interest in taking one of their cruises. Great video guys! ~Cara ❤
I just watched your series of Iona!!! Thank you so much it’s amazing .. Really well informed and made me smile lots . I dismissed the Norwegian cruise, but after seeing you on that I’m thinking that it might be good for me too!! But not in the rain because I’m sugar and I might melt!! lol What a terrific couple you are, You jel together so well. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos . Thanks again Lorraine 🥰
Ah thank you Lorraine. To be honest before we went we weren't overly sure on the ports, but loved each and everyone. The ship is stunning and we had a brilliant time. Thank you for this lovely comment. Cheers 🍻
£117 pppn is good value and about what we’ve paid previously… P&O are a good value cruise line without a doubt.. Looking forward to Iona in 4 weeks time 🎉… Thx again
Hi guys, this was interesting to watch. We have a couple of friends who go on a few cruises and they are always looking out for a good deal. Thank you for sharing. Hope you are having a great weekend. Best wishes Dawn and Dave♥
Just back from Iona trip to Norway. So was watching to reminise . Really enjoyed your informative video . We just had a couple of drinks each day only spent £100 each all week on beer ! Had sunshine all week so we were really lucky .Only had 1vtrip on the rib at Stavanger which was fantastic. Just a beer on the harbour there.. We didn't pay for any meals at all . Just went to mdr , buffet and Olive grove . Anyone who hasn't been yet will find your videos so useful I'm sure.
Ah thanks so much. She's a beautiful ship isn't she. We were worrried she'd be too big, but that wasn't to be at all. I think we'd spend less if we went on again, now we know what it's all about. Sounds like you had an amazing cruise. Cheers for watching 🍻
A good analyses of the expenses made. You really kept a good record along the way. Doesn't sound too far over the top for a holiday like this. Glad it all worked out for you- despite the rain. Happy travels. Greetings from New Zealand. 😎🙋♀🇳🇿🥝
Yeah, we thought it was good too to be honest. We would definitely recommend it and would go on again in a heart beat. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Cheers
Great video! We don't pay for drinks package on P&O but just pay as we go which lets us have large wines and more upmarket cocktails. Like you we still come under the cost of having a drinks package but it gives us flexible 😊
@@PostcardAndAPint and how many port days against sea days on the itinerary. But on the whole P&O drinks package doesn't really work for us. Princess however is a great package
Wow! This is amazing, you did really good with budgeting... the chef's table and the wine was a nice splurg, of course you couldn't be rude, I would have drank every wine he suggested, lol. Everything looks so nice, I would really enjoy walking and seeing all of the sites. Great video, loved everything about it!!!
Love iona and found it pretty good value all round, drink prices, even speciality dining was fairly priced. The only things avoided would be their tours where possible. When totalled all up, think would be hard pressed to get better value on another cruise. For us anyway
We totally agree with you! We didn't get to experience a 'proper' tour as the one we had booked got cancelled as we changed port, so we just did Bremen on your own. We loved our time on Iona, we're glad you did too. Cheers 🍻
Great video. We are obviously on the same page! P&O are the only cruise line where we don't pay for the drinks package. We did a repositioning cruise on Azura from Malta to Canaries 16 nights. We didn't hold back and had large wines some bottles of wine and some cocktails and then only spent £34 per person per day on drinks so we feel on p&O the drinks package isn't the best option. Although on Princess we always get the Princess plus package which includes lots of things, drinks coffees water daily gratuities and wi fi.
We totally agree with you. We have just booked another and won't be taking it again! The drinks prices are fair on board and with only 1 seats day, we'll be off the ship more than on. Cheers so much for watching g and it sounds like you've had a good experience too. 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint we are on Iona for 7th Dec ( Northern Europe) and again on 1st March (Med). We think they are great value for money. Love the bigger ships more to do and a load of places to eat which are included in the cruise price.
@@PostcardAndAPint we love Azura and Ventura. Great ships. And some great inside cabins aft on R deck right by the back terrace pool . Just a few steps to outside space on those inside cabins. 👍. Next to what we call the secret door to the back pool.
We go on Iona in may, we've already bought the drinks package, mainly because it means the kids will get the refresh package free. I've loved watching your videos!
Thank you so much. Have the best time ever! We're jealous!! That makes sense for the drinks. You can then just let the kids drink when they want to and not worry! Cheers for watching 🍻
Always interesting to see how much different types of travel costs, this cruise was definitely good value. I think part of the secret of more budget friendly cruising is to do it in the off season, I would assume to sail on the Iona in May, June, July, August and September costs a fair bit more.
Really enjoyed this guys, always interesting to see how much different types of travel cost. Liked that you included everything including your travel costs down to Southampton. There are always so many little things that cost on holiday, even with an all inclusive, you can end up spending a lot more than intended. We are off to mallorca on our jollies in a few weeks, and we are going to try to use public transport to the start points of our hikes, as the taxis are extortionate 😬. Feel like we need postcard and a pint with us in spirit, as you guys are so organised with stuff like that!😂🙌. Wish us luck! Fab video as always. Have a good week Shell and Pete 😊👍
Thanks so much guys. Have the best time in Mallorca. You guys will Ace the buses. From memory, I don't think they're too difficult, I think k we managed an across island trip once (we are so not organised!!). Cheers for watching this breakdown, fingers crossed it will help people budget for their cruise. Have a great week and an even better holiday!!! 🍻
Really enjoyed this series of videos. We did the Marella cruise to the eastern med last year and loved it but I hate airports more and more as I get older so we are looking at cruises from the UK. We fancy Iceland from Liverpool which would be great for us as we are also in North Wales.
Hello fellow North Wales dweller!! We did the iconic islands on Marella last year. We loved it, but Corfu airport was a disaster!!! We really enjoyed sailing from Southampton, but like you Liverpool would be a lot handier!!! Cheers for watching 🍻
It is isn't it. We never sit down and work it out when we do a fly/hotel type cruise, but by the time you add up all the meals out and any activities, this is such good value. Cheers for watching 🍻
You guys did an Excellent job keeping track of every day and every expense!!! That's Seriously Amazing! I can barely keep track of one day!😂 But totally Wonderful job and it does seem as you had an Incredible cruise and adventures at a Very Reasonable price, especially for two people!!! Thanks So Much for the thorough insight and information!!! Definitely helps with planning a cruise and exploring!!! You guys are Great! 😁🤙👊
Thank you so much. We tried! I'm sure we probably kissed a few bits and bobs, but hopefully it will help future P&O travellers. We loved our time on this trip, rain and all!!! Cheers 🍻
If you book a P&O cruise when you are on one, you normally can get a lot of on board spend included. I booked two inside cabins on Arvia for me and my three children and had £1,500 on board spend included which goes a long way. I think the drinks packages are overpriced and you basically have to be a semi alcoholic to get your monies worth ! If you have lots of Port days drinks are almost certain to be cheaper in local bars and you need to take that into account.
We're so glad we didn't take the drinks package and I think we'd spend even less in the Caribbean as you're off the ship more. I'm always wary of in board spend! I'd rather have that amount taken off my cruise, I think I'd feel forced into spending it, but I could be wrong. Cheers for your insights 🍻
Am going on the Iona in September to Norway. So have have only paid for the cruise, none of the extras. Cost of the cruise was £1800, and that's a single person rate too. Going to be an easy £3000 by the end of it all I expect, as I want to get the drinks package, which will be the Alcohol Free package and pay for a couple of day trips they have at two of the ports. Will have about £400 cash in spending when on shore and maybe another £400 cash to pay off the cruise card account at the end.
Have the best time. Single cruisers don't half get stung with a high cruise Fayre. We would love to do the fjords. We hope this vid will help some people to budget or throw up and hidden costs they'd not thought of. Cheers 🍻
Hi guys this was very well done! Plus we’ve enjoyed reading other peoples comments from like minded cruisers! The trains, the Wi-Fi and the deodorant seemed to push the price up! You work hard so you should play hard and enjoy yourselves when it’s holiday time! Have a great week ahead 👍❤️ That litre allowance is that per person and is that each time you get on if you’ve drunk the last litre 🤪
Ah thanks guys. Yep, definitely won't be forgetting the deodorant again. We didn't actually take on a litre each!! I think we took on one bottle of wine! They certainly weren't bothered by what you brought back on at all compared to other cruises. Cheers for watching and have a fantastic week! 🍻
That was a great breakdown. I feel like budget cruises are often not as cheap as they seem. In the US you have to gratuity as well, like an extra 15% per day gets added to your bill. I wonder how an all inclusive like a Virgin Voyages would compare.
Thanks so much for watching. We'd love to try a Virgin cruise, but unless there's an amazing offer, it's out of our price range!!! This was great to have all gratuities included and we still feel it's a great price. Cheers for watching 🍻
Aw fab to see this (we were on the same cruise). P&O Iona is a fab ship! We also just paid as we went with drinks. ✅ I had the woolly hat on in the hot tub 🤣🙌🏽
It was a great cruise wasn't it! We loved it. We remember you!!! I remember commenting that you had the right idea wearing a woolly hat in the jacuzzi!! Cheers 🍻
I think on a hot cruise we would now drinks package, but this worked well for us this time! Yep trains are soooo expensive! Wills always gets so cross when we have sound issues! Got there in the end. Cheers for watching guys 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint We think a drinks package would definitely be worth it for a hot weather cruise! ☀️ 🍹 Can't believe how expensive those fares are even with a railcard! At least you got there in the end! 🥂
We're all totally nosy and of course we wanted to know how much the cruise costed hehe. The initial costs I personally thing is absolutely brilliant, for the experience and the value you got and of course visiting 3 cities/towns, the only downside in my opinion of course is that internet package... jeeze! that was pricy!! A fiver to smell good wills? Please don't say it was Lynx haha! Like you mentioned about the fancy restaurant, it was a celebration for the both of you and why not? you're on holiday, you should be spoiling yourselves and enjoying some lovely wine with your food! Those windmills are so cool, so iconic, what a great experience on the water boat too. What a fabulous result, I think super reasonable and affordable for sure! Really enjoyed this Rach & Wills, appreciate you both and your videos!
Ah thanks guys. It was a brilliant week and we'd definitely sail with them again. Wills won't be forgetting his deodorant again!! I think the one he brought was either sure or Nivea so very expensive!!! Yes, expensive wine on chefs table night was a must! Thanks so much for your support. Were so behind on other channels at the moment, we really appreciate your comments. We will endeavour to catch up this week. Cheers 🍻
Love to see all the costing out of these things because i always fall into the trap of thinking, ahh, we wont need any more money for anything and not looking at yhe bigger picture. Very helpful, i have to say. Amazing how it adds up even when youre careful. Looks like you had a great time! Sending love from Qatar ❤❤
Thank you so much. It was very interesting to add it all up at the end and will certainly help us budget next time we cruise P&O. Book a cruise you two!!! Cheers 🍻
That's really interesting, thank you....and far more transparent than most cruise vloggers 😊 I've got my first (ever!) cruise to the Fjords in June on Iona, and my cruise alone is as much as your totsl spend. However, I did go for Select fare and balcony. We don't drink much, and I'll be popping a few cans in my luggage, so I hope the onboard credit will cover most incidentals 🤞 I'll make sure to remember my deodorant though....that's almost a glass of wine 😅
Have the best time ever. I think you've made the right choice, a balcony for the fjords is a must!!! We're desperate to do that cruise and will definitely grab a balcony for it! Yes, don't forget your deodorant - it's a pricey mistake. Cheers for watching 🍻
That was fascinating. It really isn't that expensive, but when I did the conversion to our dinero it came to be almost exactly AUD$4000. 😬 I'm making that face now when I double it for a fam. 😁 I looked up a random 7 day cruise from Melbourne going to such exotic locations as Adelaide, Port Lincoln and Kangaroo Island. And for a fam of 4 the base price is $2500 (GBP1300). To be fair you cabin looked better. I think ours would be in a lower deck hammock with a toilet bucket, an orange (to prevent the scurvy) and a dram of rum. 😁🏴☠🦜🍺 You have to get yourselves over to SE Asia for a holiday. It is so cheap. I spreadsheeted up our basic costs including airfares (inc. domestic flights in Vietnam), accommodation, pet boarding ($2000 😸🐶 😬) , and it came to $5600 (GBP2900). I haven't included food and other daily expenses in that but one meal cost us $5 once. This was for 28 days. Can you believe our biggest single expense was boarding the pets? 😂 They daily rate for the dog was more than the average we spent on accommodation per day in Vietnam for the whole fam. 😂 Stuff coming to Australia. Too bloody expensive. Cheaper for you to get to Asia. They do cruises around Asia too. Do it, do it, do it. 😂
Totally loving that the dog got the luxury accommodation!!! Yes, the far east is top of our list when we can do this full time. We quite fancy a 6 weeks stay in Thailand to start us off. I've looked at prices and accommodation is insanely cheap! I think it works out £18 per night for 6 weeks in a lovely modern 1 bed apartment, all bills in with gym and pool! We'd then use that as a base to travel around. If you're disciplined and happy with what the cruise Fayre offers, the P&O U.K. are good value. Cheers for watching, now go tune down the dogs cashmere bed! Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint Ooh yeah, Thailand would be tops! I would absolutely love some P&P vids from Thailand. The dog's boarding was the cheapest we could find and per night it was still more expensive than ours in Vietnam. That cat's boarding was about the same as our cheapest accommodation. 😂
Thanks so much. Schh is included, although if you want to try the Sch (it) cocktail, then that's £9 - spoiler alert, unless you like drinking chilli - don't do it!!! Cheers 🍻
Another great video, were of to Norway on Iona in less than 3 weeks time, our 4th cruise on this ship, we love her so much and as you say the prices are so reasonable.
Great question. We were going to mention that but we thought that there are so many insurance packages out there at different costs, there wouldn’t be any sort of standard. Rach dealt with that and I can’t remember what she paid, but it was quite cheap from what I remember. Cheers for watching and for the comment
The Iona has starlink now so we found we could get on everywhere on the ship. Next time we cruise P&O we'd probably buy 1 package, use data and wifi in port and take it in turns to log our phones on on board. Cheers for watching 🍻
Solo cruisers do get slapped with big bill. There are lots of Facebook groups I've seen that are geared towards solo cruisers. You might get some good hacks and deals from those. Cheers for watching 🍻
@@lowdowntravel we’ll do a full review on the show and the cocktail in the next couple of weeks, but basically, passion fruit syrup, tequila, Tabasco, aperol, mixed spices, a lime and a chilli!!!! 🥵🤮😂

It was a great cruise wasn't it! We loved it. We remember you!!! I remember commenting that you had the right idea wearing a woolly hat in the jacuzzi!! Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint❤ aw hopefully see you on another cruise. Love your adventures xx
@@AllieBlackett thank you so much. None planned at the moment, but hopefully later in the year. Thanks for your kind words. 🍻
WE HAVE OUR DRINKS! 😃
Ouch the price of the trains! 😬 you guys and your audio issues! 😂
Great video as always! Interesting to see how much you spent!
Cheers 🍻
You got that whole cruise for just £4??? Heck of a breakdown! Gotta get us one of those cruise jars. Seems like a fair price!
Yep early on Rach mistake!!! I think those savings urns are South American - they were all the rage here a few years back. Cheers for watching guys 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint 🍻
Nice review of this trip.
Thank you so much for watching 🍻
good in depth look at cruise costs surprising how the extras add up
*🦘Au🦘💯full view always📺thumbs up👍enjoy your week😎*
Thanks so much Billy. Were always glad of your support 🍻
To be fair per day that isn’t really too bad at all is it. 😊 useful to watch
It's a lovely ship and we think excellent value. It's not a bad price at all is it. Cheers 🍻
You have to get yourselves over to SE Asia for a holiday. 😂
Stuff coming to Australia.
Great video. Thanks. Was Schhh included or did you have to pay? If so, how much? Thanks.
Oh we're so jealous!!! We really want to do the fjords. Have the best time ever. Cheers 🍻
Hi guys great video ,just wondering what about insurance?🤔x
Great question. We were going to mention that but we thought that there are so many insurance packages out there at different costs, there wouldn’t be any sort of standard. Rach dealt with that and I can’t remember what she paid, but it was quite cheap from what I remember. Cheers for watching and for the comment
Is the internet package worth buying - we were on the Norwegian Jewel back in February and the internet cost a fortune and was absolute rubbish
The Iona has starlink now so we found we could get on everywhere on the ship. Next time we cruise P&O we'd probably buy 1 package, use data and wifi in port and take it in turns to log our phones on on board. Cheers for watching 🍻
I was looking at my first cruise (solo) and found one at £699
I figured actually around £4000 after totting everything up🙄
Solo cruisers do get slapped with big bill. There are lots of Facebook groups I've seen that are geared towards solo cruisers. You might get some good hacks and deals from those. Cheers for watching 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint thanks for the reply. Iv got it down to £2750🙄😂
@@ToThePointCT result!!! Nice one 🍻
Interesting watch. Bet the only thing you regret buying was the schhh cocktail!
That was an abomination!!! We're not really into cocktails anyway, but give me anything over that. Cheers for watching 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint what was in it??
@@lowdowntravel we’ll do a full review on the show and the cocktail in the next couple of weeks, but basically, passion fruit syrup, tequila, Tabasco, aperol, mixed spices, a lime and a chilli!!!! 🥵🤮😂
@@PostcardAndAPint sounds blinking vile
You got to upgrade that
Apple 2E Wills. It keeps crashing.
Haha, are you referring to the sound going wrong? Was nothing to do with the computer, it was the mic that we plug into the phone. We’ve had loads of trouble with it recently 😂
Thanks!
Thank you so much mate, that’s really kind of you!!!
A week long cruise for under 2200£ is a great deal.
It's great value isn't it. Cheers Ken 🍻
Hehe we'd have wine boxes secreted in our luggage! 😂
Point taken, noted and ready for next time!! Cheers 🍻
You should have put a couple of bottles in your luggage. That would have saved you so much. 🤣😂
We’ll know for next time!!! We did in fact have a bottle of wine in there, you could take a litre on board. Cheers 🍻
Ah hum, disagree, maths and alcohol absolutely do mix 🤣
🤣 - the answer would have been so wrong if they had mixed!! Cheers for watching 🍻
It seems like a reasonable price, but £5 for a deodorant is disgraceful exploitation of their monopoly. 😮
I'm the 🎩 , what are you?😊
Like deployed 👍
It was very reasonable - cheers for watching and - the dog - always the dog! 🍻
