Why does nobody ever argue from the point of DNA? The fetus has DNA that is different than the mother and the father, which makes it a seperate entity whose life we shouldn't take for the sake of convenience.

A child is not a burden, if you feel they are, you, are a burden to society. Yes having children comes with a load of responsibility, and that is why you should weigh the pros and cons of getting laid, because boy do they have as many pros as they do cons, but mostly pros. If you feel you cannot raise a kid yet, don't be irresponsible, and if you chose to be careless, admit that you are a careless and irresponsible person, man up or woman up, avoid making the same mistakes, and be ready to work twice as hard, because that will be one of the cons of having a baby when your not fit to be a parent. I am a child born because my birth mother was raped. She still carried me and gave me up for adoption so I could have a better life and she gave a WONDERFUL loving family the opportunity to be parents that they otherwise wouldn't have had. So people can take their abortion arguments and shove it.

Ok, so you're just adding to an arbitrary list of requirements for human rights. So you say they have to have "human intelligence" (whatever that means), sentience, and moral agency (which babies don't have). This is just a made up "shopping list" of requirements, contrived to fit a pro-choice agenda, just as slavers contrived a certain skin color into their shopping list of human worth pre-requisites. All that matters, as we found out with slavery, is to be a human being. Another problem with sentience and intelligence is that they come in degrees. Therefore humans with more sentience or more intelligence have more value and thus more of a right to life, bodily autonomy, etc. than other humans. But that is clearly not true because we know human equality is true. Simply being a human being is really what matters. Finally, the question "why" comes to mind. Why don't humans have rights because "they don't have moral agency or human intelligence"? Why do they need sentience? These are bare assertions. If you watch the full video (it may have been a different one, but I think it was last night), there was another girl who asked about abortion that was trying to get Ben to state that he would prosecute women who have an abortion with murder. When he explained that he wouldn't because he didn't feel there was necessarily an element of intent based on societal "norms", she basically fell apart and kept trying to convince him that he should want to prosecute them for murder. It clearly wasn't her view, but she was trying to convince Ben it should be his...so she could attack him for it...so ridiculous.

The word "burden" came up because this generation is me centered. Is it not ironic that this same generation, which can avoid an unwanted pregnancy like none before it, has to deal with the abortion question at all? Explaining this is not easy.
Hexl702 - Yes, many ppl are irresponsible & don't "want" to take responsibility for their actions; But that in no way gives credibility to the ridiculous claim that anyone would be "forced" to be or remain pregnant! They are already pregnant (because of their own actions) & they wouldn't be "forced" to "do" anything at all; rather they'd be prohibited, under the law, from encroaching on the rights of another (As we all are. That's what laws are designed to do) People aren't "forced" to not commit crimes against their fellow human-beings...they are prohibited from violating the rights of others! & Since the discovery of DNA by Francis Crick & James Watson in 1953 & all the scientific advances in that field since then (like the discovery that all life forms on this planet are distinguished by one common denominator - their DNA code, which is attained at the moment of their conception) It has now been scientifically determined & established that the human genome begins it's amazing process right from the start of it's existence & that the human-being attains its own separate & distinct DNA code at that point...making it distinct & separate from its mother & therefore a unique human-being. It is simply the first stage of a human-being's development & as such, falls squarely within the protections granted to all human-beings - the basic "right to life". And as an undeniable member of the human race, limited "equal protection under the law" should also apply; such as protection against threats of intentional & arbitrary destruction at the hands of another human-being! The wants, desires, ambitions, aspirations etc...of one human-being should have absolutely no effect or consequence on the basic human rights of another...Period.

Ok, so you're just adding to an arbitrary list of requirements for human rights. So you say they have to have "human intelligence" (whatever that means), sentience, and moral agency (which babies don't have). This is just a made up "shopping list" of requirements, contrived to fit a pro-choice agenda, just as slavers contrived a certain skin color into their shopping list of human worth pre-requisites. All that matters, as we found out with slavery, is to be a human being.
Another problem with sentience and intelligence is that they come in degrees. Therefore humans with more sentience or more intelligence have more value and thus more of a right to life, bodily autonomy, etc. than other humans. But that is clearly not true because we know human equality is true. Simply being a human being is really what matters.
Finally, the question "why" comes to mind. Why don't humans have rights because "they don't have moral agency or human intelligence"? Why do they need sentience? These are bare assertions. And you cannot justify killing humans when you are standing on a blind faith position.
