Comment below if you think Toyota should sell the new little Hilux Champ that Thailand gets for roughly $13K here in the USA. www.toyota.co.th/model/hilux_champ
ABSOLUTELY!
As much as we'd like, that'll never happen. The EPA and NTSB under FJB will never allow the unwashed plebes such affordable items.
Yes
Yes!
I would love a Hilux Champ, especially with the diesel engine and manual transmission. If they offered one with a tilt bed, that would be even better, as it would make hauling firewood or mulch a lot easier. Is there a petition we can sign or something to get this on the fast track?
And all this can be yours for the low price of 72,000 dollars. These trucks have absolutely gotten out of reach for average Americans.
I waited for the new Taco to be released before shopping for my next truck. Once I saw where the prices of mid sizes were landing out the door, and especially the limited availability of the taco, I went with a full size truck. Same price after rebates, V8, and much more capable machine.
At these ridiculous prices Im afraid my 2020 Frontier will be the last new purchase truck I’ll ever have.
@markm148 I bought the only affordable "truck" in 2023, a Ford Maverick. It was roughly 25k complete, with tax and shipping.
Then the engine had a catastrophic failure at 7700 miles. It was replaced and I immediately sold it for essentially what I paid for it.
It was a hybrid model.
These outrageously expensive trucks are having similar failures.
As a result I am driving a free 2002 Montero Sport. It is great.
Average American doesn't need pickup.
@terot8341 Wrong. I am not a tradesman, but I need a truck all the time. Because I do own a home.
Unless you have enough money to pay others for everything you need done around your house, then maybe you don't need a truck, or you rent an apartment.
There's a reason why trucks are so hot, versatility. Haul your family as well as the things you need.
Just about $55K for a Tacoma!!? Car and truck prices are absolutely outrageous.
It's 55k with the TRD package with every single option available. That's $10,000 of stuff you don't have to opt for if you don't want
@@edwardalderman8334 True. It's also worth remembering that the capabilities of this truck are similar to a 1500 series from about 10 years ago. Trucks have just grown.
@@edwardalderman8334 Except, dealerships do not order base models.
yeah, half tons/full size pickups are anywhere between 65K and 100K, its getting insane
Turbo's made in China that will fail within 5k miles. LOL
I’m glad you spoke to the affordability issue and the lack of a naturally aspirated option! Nice vehicle, but it’s moving away from the folks who made these popular.
And that's why sales for the 24 Taco is down 60% from this quarter last year.
@@justahumbledude The prices will start dropping the more dust sits on these new Taco’s.
Your synopsis was spot on. There is no need for the TRD pro. You will get some heat for that, but I totally agree with you.
not when they're 65k with 5-10 percent interest rates
Speaking as someone who regularly of late needs to be told to "don't eat your truck," I would just like to thank you for that excellent advice. Thanks for joining me virtually for breakfast. It has been an entertaining informative experience.
The advice we need at a price we can afford. : )
MUST EAT TACO....CHOMP. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
"It has been an entertaining informative experience" and that is why we watch.
I am so sorry, BUT SARAH -- you have the best sense of humor.
I do love this channel...😻😻
I have a 2020 Nissan Frontier. It's no different than my old 1995 Tacoma. And it's spectacular just that way.
The Morse code on the fuse box reads, "accessory ready."
I thought it was "keep the magic smoke inside"
There is also Morse code on the passenger side bottom windshield that reads, badass trucks.
I posted the same before I came across your comment.
You’re so right about the need for a lower price base version!
There is a lower price base version. If you can’t afford that, it’s time for a better job. Inflation is not Toyota’s fault.
The base model is $32,000.
I have been a Toyota customer for decades. I avoid turbo engines like the plague. Not to mention, the insane prices! Toyota is also starting to have quality control and fit-and-finish issues!
Keep on speaking the truth! Toyota went from the best truck manufacturer to a close tie with GMC….The GMC Canyon/Colorado is a better truck than the new Tacoma….i can’t believe I made this statement but Toyota really messed up…..bad.
This generation of Tacoma and it's price tag is the best advertisement for the Nissan Frontier
"don't eat your truck" should make it on a t-shirt.
Love this truck, but the idea of a 55K Tacoma is just insane, even with options. I know vehicle pricing has dramatically increased over the past handful of years, but this is crazy.
Yep. My friend just bought a ‘24 Mustang GT. Horse power just shy of 500hp with a six speed manual for under $55k
Adjusting for inflation I can see why. Everything almost doubled in price.. it sucks.
@@wowmawc yes and no, even adjusted for inflation this truck cost $10k more than it did in 2004 new.
@@SarahnTunedto be honest tacomas have always been rehashed previous gen parts. This is an all new truck. New tech, better comfort, more capable, better at everything. 10k increase was a long time coming. The last tacoma still rode on the second gen platform
@@SarahnTunedThat's true but the 2004 didn't have $10,000 worth of equipment that the fully loaded model does have for 24.
Toyota fanboy here, besides the silly prices .. the Turbo 4 is a concern. I've built a few turbo cars for fun, and the reality is I cant see a turbo anything going 250 - 300K miles. Not to get all techy, but high heat cycles, cylinder pressures, etc. are not a recipe for longevity. I bought a Tacoma specifically for the old fashioned reliability. I will say I think If anyone can mass produce a reliable forced induction gas engine, its Toyota. But, sorry Toyota, gonna have to sideline this one and wait it out.
That's why late model Tundras are super popular and expensive right now. The new twin turbo V6 has some serious problems....
Pretty sure a manufacturer can build a better turbo build than you can and I am not a toyota fanboy
This right here.
This is another confirmation that they’ve become completely disconnected from the end-users & more concerned about flashy gimmicks to compete
Which 2024 midsize truck would you say has reliability? I am thinking a Ridgeline tbh. I don't do offroading or anything. Don't tow over 2k
@@stevenkim9633 Then definitely the Ridgeline, its only real weakness is the monocoque design which results in less off-road capability but if don't need that then it doesn't matter.
Just the greatest content and content creator as well as the hardest working human being I know! Sarah is the very best! 🙂♥️ Much respect ✊
🏁
Back in 2007 I ordered my SR5 extra cab from the factory, Love my truck, 150k miles and zero problems. My friend got a 2024 for $72k and it's been in the shop 4 times already. I think I'll drive my 07 till the wheels fall off.
Do you know what the problems were? Please
Why? I'm at 2k and it's been flawless so far.
$72000? Sounds like your friend got a Tundra and those have been a nightmare. I also thought the mid-2000 Tacoma's had a rusty frame issue.
@@mad-meh2719😅
Was that is Canadian dollars? There’s no 2024 Tacoma trim that costs that much.
The "Oh Shit handle" 🤣🤣🤣 I love watching your reviews!
I miss my grandma’s pound cake… it was delicious. 😉 Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
Don't eat your truck! Words to live by!!!
Most complete and fun review. Awesome!
Considering most purchasers are going to be cruising the mall with those skid plates, it's probably fine that they're made out of ballistic nylon. If you are going to actually off road it, you're probably gonna want to upgrade them anyway.
They shouldn’t cater to people who buy the wrong vehicles.
I wish they kept the 2.7L and have it turbo charged, massive torque and great reliability, Sarah your the best car review tech savvy influencer for the people of the internet ❤
Wouldn’t people be saying the same thing, complaining that is a turbo and reliability blah blah?
If I were ever to be in the position to buy a new car I would probably go for a UK spec of a model reviewed by Sarah, the best car reviews I have ever seen. So much better and more interesting than even Top Gear. Amazing as always - off to nibble a bit of my old land Rover now!
14:22 Fun fact, that ejectable JBL speaker uses a solid state battery!
Be careful. Don't shatter the front dif going up a mild hill like TFL 😂😂.
Funny how nothing has broken since 😂
@@beexiong2995 It shouldn't have broken in the first place but shit happens. You expect a little better from a brand with a history of reliability and indestructible trucks but I guess we'll see how they hold up over time, I think not that well compared to the older models.
Every first year car will do stupid things. Have you lived long enough to see how the first years of the 2nd and 3rd gen trucks preformed? This tired statement can apply anywhere for anything.
True reliability is questionable but still better than any plastic junk from chevy/ford/ram
The diff was good,i heard it was a sleeve of some sorts. There was a follow up vid on that but should not have happened.
I am interested in the unloaded manual for everyday use. Glad they still have them.
im not even joking when i say this, best car review channel on youtube. this is amazing.
Best car reviews on the interwebs
Plus, entertaining!
Check out car care nut reviews
I watch u religiously, and you look exceptionally stunning in this video!!
Editing was top notch in this one Sarah
Your reviews are still THE BEST - super detailed and practical.
The price
The end
😂
4 cylinder....the end
Love your reviews Sarah.
Great review, fine tuning as you go! Would have loved to see you review the manual version. I never miss one of your videos 😘
another solid review. I have noticed the penguin scores have all been favorable lately.
Can't wait to start seeing these all over Columbus, Ohio... This thing looks perfect for not hauling anything on freeways and through suburbs. You look just like Marty mcfly! 🤩
Oh similar to the mall cruiser,gM very own Silverado a trailer queen for sure
That’s a super cool looking truck, the TFL guys call there’s Blueberry.
@@elizabethpayette9115 they also called there taco BUSTED......and now it is for sale.
Well done review. Thank you.
I always enjoy your reviews
The go to truck is going to be the Nissan frontier with a naturally aspirated V6
Be careful. Don't shatter the front dif going up a mild hill like TFL 😂😂😂
Best car audio accessory, the BT speaker. I use one all the time workin on my vehicles, saves vehicle battery. love it.
I agree that they should have kept the old 2.7L L4 in a stripped down fleet trim, it would be nice to have manual everything like your Ranger.
Sounds like Angel is out there with you, I’m glad to hear at least some of the time you don’t go out in the desert by yourself. I’m sure you can take care of yourself just fine, but it’s safer not to go alone.
He is the drone pilot since he has a license and certifications.
@@SarahnTuned Nice! That's awesome! Also glad you're following all the FAA certs, I just got into drone flying, and there is way more paperwork than I expected. I shouldn't be surprised you're doing it right, given your Air Force experience.
😅. You watch too much lame, bad. "TV"
I actually got excited when this popped up! My favorite clutzy RUclipsr with the new Taco!! Woot woot!
That blue color is so beautiful!!!!
Hi Sarah, i worked for Toyota for 9 years 1983 - 1991. it was a great experience overall, it jaded my future expectations of quality. Most other brands are inferior quality, Especially now days.
Wish they made a two door cab version
They do, it’s on the Prerunner, SR & SR5 model.
I have a 24 manual base in Canada. I had an 18 Pro before this and the 24 drives so much nicer than my 3rd gen. The coil rear springs make all the difference. The panel gaps are much nicer then the 3rd gen. The manual is different then any other one I have driven it did take a few days to catch on to. So far I am enjoying it.
Interesting review as always, Sarah 👍
Happy Friday Sarah!!!
🤣🤣🤣 Angel didn't steer you wrong on the abondigas score, I laughed when you said it, and immediately knew Angel was there filming with you.😁
That Taco is ridiculous compared to my old 00 Taco prerunner with 317k miles on it.
Stay excellent!!!😎
yeah i said to myself, angel must be there :D
Sarah great review
You also look beautiful every day!!
Another excellent review Sarah, your backseat fit test was so Bo Derek… can’t wait for the next review. 🎉
Great review! Spot on!
Lost it on "gramma's pound cake". Still cleaning up coffee what got spewed everywhere.
I was looking on our NZ Toyota Web Site, and we can only get the GR Sport D/Cab at the top of the range, which has a list RRP of A cup coffee short of NZD$77K. They have a loaded Ex-Demo model on the lot for NZD$86K. They're all 2.8L T/D's, so not your turbo 2.4L Tachoma offering that you guys have. But then we're a right-hand drive and a tiny market so we don't get a lot of models that you get in North America.
Brilliant video Sarah 🎉🫶👏👏👏👏
All this talk about tacos......now I'm craving Mexican food!
Nice work (again) Sarah.
This little truck should be 25-30K at the most!
Yes but a Big Mac should be $3 also. Inflation sucks!
Toyota just should have kept the 4.0 liter V6 of the second generation. My 2014 TRD Sport has that, and I have never had any problems with the motor even though its loud at startup. Even though, the Taco will always be the top dog in the midsize truck market!!!!
Emissions…
I have avoided to see any review of the new Tacoma, waiting for you to do yours first 😉 - and it was exellent, as expected. Oh, I also think the spanish word for maet ball is so weird!😅 Thank you, for what you do and Stay Awesome!
Have always love the Tacoma, great review 💸💷💴
Every car needs an 'Oh shit handle' 😂😂😂😂😂
amen on the over-featurization of trucks in the last 20 years. I certainly hope Toyota gets the manufacturing kinks worked out on this engine. Some are reporting the early failures experienced in early Tundras were traced to millings not washed out of the block before assembly and that Toyota has corrected that issue. Others are seeing more Tundra failures as more miles accumulate. Toyota cannot have that same problem on the Tacoma and upcoming 4Runner.
Tundra/LX600 issues number around 76 or of over 130,000 units.
@@NorthweSteelheadJunkies The rest are still sitting on lots.
@@Scroll_Lock no the problem started in late 2002 through 2003, if very unlikely any are sitting on lots. If choose there will be more emerging but clearly the sky isn't falling.
Great attention to all of the details!
First time watching and I am sold, excellent review Sarah! I was also sold on the 2024 SR5 that I bought.
Toyota has made a huge mistake replacing the base V6 with a 4cyl turbo.
turbo screaming and burning up LOL
Agreed!!
These are not selling well
@@mikefoehr235 indeed
Still have my 98 Ram 1/2 ton, bought it new and its running great. That 360 engine just keeps on going!! And it cost about 27,000 back then, still an outrageous price but compared to today,s greedy, inflated, moronic prices its priceless. I,ll drive it till it cant be fixed!!!
Put a choppy cam in that 360 and some long tube headers 🫡
Awesome work👍👍
I’m really interested in this review. You nailed it. Helps in making a choice.
Another excellent review Sarah....
Too many electronics in vehicles. When electronics break very expensive. Come on - electric tail gate. Are we that lazy. Turbos if you push them and do a lot of hauling will not last like the V6.
Thanks for showing us your huge tips
Great review
Educational and entertaining
You are my Spirit Animal.
I miss my 97 Taco Tacoma, I miss simple..
These are sitting at dealerships, Toyota is not forgetting the basics, price sells. Even with dealer discounts these are priced too high for the common buyer.
Tundra is sitting but these are selling as fast as they can make them. You get what you pay for
Especially at the current finance rates. $45,000+ for a truck and then you finance it at 8% for 72 easy payments of $800 a month hahah Frickin nuts.
Toyota is absolutely wild with their pricing and they just don't give a shit because they know suckers will buy em anyways.
Not in the St Louis area. Watching inventory around here covered in "sale pending" statements. I was lucking to catch a Sport 4x4 auto 5ft bed in Solar Octane still on the lot awaiting pickup a week ago. There was one other Taco, a SR in fleet white. There were a number of Tundras though.
Happy Friday! Sarah and the Bearded Mechanic uploaded videos today!
Glad I bought my 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD pro!
nice review. thanks for bringing up the 2.7. it is a bulletproof motor and would have been smart to place in the rear leaf version of this truck.
The 2.7 was massively underpowered. With the current weight gain it would be even worse. At least toyota offers a detuned version on the SR trim. 224ish hp and 240ish torque. Still plenty to move around.
SARAH!!!!!
Sarah is a gem.
Great review. It IS a nice truck.
13:40 the morse code says "ACCESSORY READY"
73'OM....
I wonder if it has the hidden din mounting hole in the dash that Toyotas used to have for ham radio mounting.
@@roydugger7303 I never knew such things existed.
@@gewglesux1st gen RAV 4 at least. President of Toyota was ham radio enthusiast.
This truck sucks. Less reliability at twice the cost. Nissan frontier might be the way to go. V6, no turbo, no hybrid. Less cost.
multiport injection vs direct in the frontier
Nissan is absolutely the way to go... the reason I own one 😂
Literally just bought one this week, pro4x in tac green!
How would you know?
@@Frankrizzo619Nissan DI engines don’t have too much carbon buildup issues, it’s mostly anything German and Hyundai/Kia that you really should worry about
i work for toyota, drive probably 70 tacomas a day, any new toyota ive driven, gr86 gr corollas with 2 miles ok them, lots of cool stuff and the new toyota crowns i love these 4th gens 👍🏻
I have a last year Gen 2.5 2015 with the 4.0 V6, Love it!! It is a beast!!!
There is no replacement for displacement.
BILL - SSSHHHHH - TEH - EYE - NNN dampers.....nice
I didn´t drove, before, but I learn something everyday watching these reviews.
Boxed frame and rear discs! Finally catching up with Nissan🤣.
If only nissan would stop using parts from 2005 😂
Love the " Oh Shit " handle.
Regarding the dash boom-box. Back in 1973, Ford UK had the Escort Mk1. I owned one of these and the car radio was able to be removed to become a portable radio with its own battery.
VW had the same thing in the 1950's as well as other cars..
True. Better to have more simple than less simple.
Sarah is absolutely gorgeous 😘
Tacos are life, the edible kind 🌮
all were saying is double check that it IS a taco you are about to eat and not a truck
Tacos are not part of the “proper human diet “wheat, sugar seed oil plus who knows what chemicals do nothing for you it’s food garbage
My favorite review I’ve seen for the 24 Taco; reviewed it for what it actually is and what Toyota was trying to do with it rather than chastising them for the changes and for this thing not being a full size truck ha
""Oh shit handle" twice! You're spoiling us. Great review...!
This thing is pretty high tech compared to my 2023 TRD Off-Road with 6 speed manual.... I'll take my V6 and lack of stupid large iPAD tablet on the dash.
I'm glad I'm rebuilding my 84 Pickup this year. It'll last twice as long as a brand new truck with like $7k max invested in a truck that's already experienced a lifetime of work.
@@Mis73rRand0m would love an 80's Toyota Pickup but it would rust out in no time as I live in the New England area.
Mmmmm tacos 😁
I would love to see you do a Ranger Raptor review! Your reviews are real use based and I alway enjoy them!
