COtheLegend recently played madden 07 for the GameCube. While not as pretty, the momentum feels better and the animation system in my opinion is better then what we have today. The madden game today would be absolutely fantastic if we could if just kept building off that code.
@@snc237 I agree with you about momentum! It felt so much better during the PS2/Xbox/Game Cube era than it does now. Because of that, user control felt so, so, so much better during those days, which made the game much more fun to play.

I did a video on the PSP version of Madden 06 a few months ago, a game so bad it soft bricked consoles, and EA openly admitted they couldn't be bothered to patch the bug and just told people to "deal with it".

Madden 06 on 6th gen is my favorite Madden ever. Precision passing, still had hit stick, vision cone made you really tell the difference from an elite QB like a Peyton Manning vs a backup QB.
I swear to god Madden had precision passing in Madden 2005, if not earlier, it just was never advertised but you can still lead receivers with the left stick

If you want to penalize QB's with low awarenesses do something like have the controllers respond incrementally slower. Like an 80 AWR buttons lag just a tick behind 90 AWR and so on. That's much more realistic of an effect than the stupid vision cone.

And EA wanted to start using name and likeness and the contact ran out after NCAA 14(atleast thats what i think it was). The NCAA games were made by EA. i do belive there was 2k college football game.

The closest we have to this now is that NBA 2K23 has each team authentic Arena announcer for the beginning of the game. Just think of how much $ that "dented" their megalomaniac sized wallets to give us that fan service.
Licensing in video games is the reason why the NCAA 23 game is delayed, it is also the reason why we only have 1 set of TV crew for each sports game. Overall, I hope policies such as the NIL (Name, image, & likeness) terms expand the future for proper licensing for the sports entertainment industry.

Regarding the last 2 minutes. We're talking about a billion $ company that has the assets available. In the words of the great softdrinktv - "they dont care" "the worse franchise is, the more likely people are to play UT"
The tension has been brewing for a decade now. If they cant deliver significant upgrades to franchise on the next gen ps5 the community would be fed up. Theres no more excuses and no excuse for a 'deadline' anymore
TLDR: Im sceptical for ps5 m21 to be great but i pray its happens and franchise is equally valued as MUT
The thing is, (and I remember this frustrated comment made on some other vid of Madden being awful) there's continually 100's of thousands of new kids playing Madden each year so even tho the mature community gets frustrated and eventually speaks with their wallet, there's still so many new people playing UT. Not sure if it will ever change as there's just so much money to be made from it..

The same thing happened to live as it did madden. The difference is by the time they recovered (nba live 10) the competition was so far ahead it was useless. NBA live 19 is a solid game! But compared to 2k the game feels 5 years behind

Madden 06 for the GameCube. First football game i ever played, best football game ive ever played. Its just a great game. Career mode, tournaments, create a team, drills, soundtrack, gameplay, "feel", just amazing, i cant put it into words.
I was only 4 when it came out but my older brothers and I constantly played MVP 05, madden 06 and NHL06. Good times man. I really miss coming home from elementary school to play them, even 3, 4, or even 5 years after it released
@@willcarroll9762 i was 7 when Madden 06 came out so we're not far off. And yes, i played 06 till like 2010. My best record was playing NBA2k13 until like 2016. Thats 1 game for like 4 1/2 NBA seasons but the NBA games went downhill after 2k14.

I went out and bought a PS2 and Madden 02,03, 05.06, and 08. I'm playing 06 right now and oh my god, so many little touches that make this game great. The player movement looks so realistic, i.e. special teams actually down a punt instead of circling around the punt returner like morons. Players help teammates up off the turf, or jump over a player whos' down on the turf. The chain gang even falls down when players run into them. I do wish I could pick plays based on the specific player but that just means I need to familiarize myself with the playbook more. I just discovered the greatness that is the hot route system and sending players in motion. Now if I could only figure out pre snap reads and when to and not to throw a pass...but yeah, thanks to your videos I have rediscovered the greatness that is Madden 06 on the PS2.

Funnily enough, THE Madden game that got me into the series AND the sport as a whole... And I've not looked back. Played it back in 2005 on my original Xbox and picked up the gameplay and the rules just by sticking with it and learning as I went, now I have an unwavering passion for the sport, all because of 06. Great game, great video.
for christmas 2005, my parents got me and my brother a PS2 and they got me Madden 06. Me being an 11 year old Eagles fan, it was one of the best gifts I ever received even to this day. Madden 06 is still #1 in my book next to Madden 2004 and Madden 25. A lot of people I knew hated the QB vision feature, but I liked it. I played the game so much that I was too good at it haha
The build up for Madden 06 was the longest biggest build up ever to the most disappointing game ever on XBOX 360.

Madden 06 was bad, it didnt even have a challenge play option, but I had a lot of fun playing it. I also remember that you could see the OVR and all other stats when drafting. This game was 🐐 status on PS2. The first Madden I played on the PS3 was Madden ‘08 and that game was hot garbage. I could only imagine how garbage ‘06 and ‘07 was. I remember people saying they liked PS2 Madden better and I couldn’t understand it until I finally got a PS3 and bought ‘08 and played it for myself. It then made perfect sense why people was still playing the game on the PS2 years after the PS3 was released. I then became a 2k and a COD boy after growing up a Madden fanatic.

The franchise mode in 06 was the best for ps2 being owner and gm. Gameplay wasn’t as good. Madden has never been the same since 360 days. Madden 12 and 08 were the last good playable Maddens but the last really good franchise was 06.

Fernando B. Yea and no. The large vision had a pro but also had a con. Their vision cone was so large you couldn’t really manipulate the safeties and defenders in general like you could with other QBs.
Madden on new gen vs. old gen consoles is exactly what we as gamers should be taling about. Every series has trouble transitioning in between new consoles from older ones due to try to change gameplay, performance, and graphics over features. It's why pcs rule. Look at a game like Minecraft or Terraria with infinite hours of great content but doesn't look great all because it stays on one console, which you can typically update.
the simple fact that they wanted to put all these extra features in the new game show the passion that they wanted to put in these games. Although it didn’t work, it still shows that they actually tried. Which can definitely not be said now.

06 had my 1st or 2nd fav Soundtrack of all of them.
@ 3:11 the play to the middle right is my all time favorite play in madden , especially in maddens 06 - 10 . with this play , it's almost always a guaranteed 1st down or more with a nicely timed hit stick truck . I custom and mastered all the audibles and hot routes possible out of this play. I would make sure to have the perfect personnel for this play to work at its best with RWR being an all around WR and my LWR being either a speedster or highly rated route runner possession WR . my TE would be a faster TE with high jump and catch stats . i would substitute in a good blocking TE with decent catch and route running skills at FB. With all these weapons with the perfect skill sets out on their best utilized positions , I would carve defenses up with this play alone !!!!

Just something I noticed, the D line actually has the right stance in Madden 06 yet for years now we have d linemen in the wrong stance. The first thing you learn as a d end is all wrong in Madden 20 but right in Madden 06... What a joke of a franchise.

Madden 12 on the ps2 feels...weird. It's so souless and empty design wise.
He stated on r/softdrinktv that they're pretty much the same game as 08, and that they're still technically really good. They're not mentioned in any videos to avoid confusion w/ the 7th gen versions (as 08 was the last game to be on all 3 6th gen consoles).
I had it on original xbox, loved that game so much I did 16 seasons as a WR for the Rams, played every game.
i loved this game for the psp cause i was just a kid turned offsides off where my linebacker would just keep running but not being able to go past line of scrimmage and get a sack every time
I actually loved it on the 360. Back then I only cared about online head to head. And even to this day I still do. Back in madden 06 I was ranked in the top 50.
Madden 06 has hands down the greatest soundtrack of any game or movie! Fight me!

Madden 10 was the last decent Madden. I remember they slowed down the gameplay to feel more realistic, and the presentation was a huge step up, taking lots of notes from 2K5.

Enjoyed Madden 11 & 25 when I had it. This was next level crazy! I can only imagine how Madden was on sixth generation.
I remember I had an Xbox original copy of Madden, it was a good game that I enjoyed quite a lot. The one thing I really loved was a demo of a racing game. I forget what it was.
But it was fun AF, kind of like death race before death race became a thing. It was 3 laps, and it was complete mayhem. You could outfit weapons, destroy traffic during the race, even if your car is destroyed. You could direct it into other cars sabotaging their efforts to win, it was insanity. That demo was so fun. I wonder what became of that game?

I remember being in blockbuster in 2005 I was fifteen years old looking at the back of the case for madden 06 for 360 and being so excited about how good the graphics looked lol. Luckily I didn't have a 360 yet so I never got to actually experience it.
This is why I dont often say much when a game is delayed or seems like its struggling on developnent. The devs are often trying their best and you never know about all of the problems that could arise during development. Yelling at them is only going to add more stress.
