The early Madden versions also had real stat simulating meaning if you had a scrambling quarterback, he would have at least 600 yards rushing by the end of the season
Idk, sometimes Mike Vick would rush for 1,800 yards in a season in those old maddens.

I miss being years deep in a NCAA dynasty while drafting everyone of my classes to madden and watching them prosper into NFL stars or busts.. i may never have a gaming experience like that again in my life 😔🥺😢

@@U9005p that 2kfootball will be non simulation so it's going to arcade style. Back yard stadium/ big head player type stuff. If they make another ncaaf, it will be totally different. It would do nothing but tarnish my nostalgia lol.
I still play my copy of NCAA 14 on the 360. I suggest going out and getting it if you’re able to. It’s still a great game to play.

Honestly if mini camp came back in a new madden I think I'd get it just for that alone, if implemented right. it'd be cool if you could use your MUT cards to upgrade players with it but we all know that's a long shot cause EA.

Madden 08 Goat. Had everything, gameplay, franchise, specialist, and Vision Cone! Vision Cone is what separated great QBs to average ones. It took actual skill to use. Same with D. Been playing since most of you where born. Started with the original Madden pc 1991.

I’ve owned every game since Madden 01... and 100% agree with your Madden list. I absolutely loved the Madden games from 04 through 08.. my favorite Madden is 2004 as well. Favorite NFL game overall is def ESPN NFL 2K5 ☝🏼

NFL 2k5 is the best playing game. It was the most life like. Now in terms of best madden my favorites were 05’ and 08’. Personally I like franchise mode.
Which madden game in the last 5 years would be the best to purchase? Not overly familiar with the franchise and it's changes aside from graphics (I presume) but in terms of general playability (if there's such a term for a game) and graphics, what would be the one to go for?

Explaining Salary Cap, Cap Penalties and how this is effected in trading. 2. How do you successfully trade up in the picks in the draft? ( It seems when I try to do so the trades are mostly denied even when I provide better than good value.

You've hit the nail on the head with Maddens 04-07. My personal favorite is Madden 07 but I would play 04,05, or 06 in a heartbeat. Little did we know how good we had it back then. My last Madden I purchased was Madden 09 before I picked it up again with Madden 18, so a sizeable gap between play but today's Madden just doesn't compare to the ones they were spitting out in the mid 2000's. Im glad 2K sports is back in the mix. That will only force EA and 2K to up their games, no pun intended.
Me too, 08 felt easy to win compared to 07, I also liked the new feature of joystick in field goals.

Really enjoyed this video, very insightful. I'd like to know where you rate each year bracket of Madden games on the same spectrum you used. I mean you can kinda tell how you'd rate them but I'd like to see a follow up video that has you placing each Madden into it's respective era, not necessarily based on graphics but more of what it offered and how well received it was. Such as 99-01, 02-05, 06-12, 13-20, etc...
Madden 2003-08 on xbox/ps2 was a fantastic run of games. There were big improvements and fine tuning done every year to an already great system. I miss those days!

i feel like im the only person who feels this way, but I've played every madden since madden 25 and my favourite if all time is madden 20. I think its amazing but everyone always shits on it

I hate the fact 99 overall receivers with 99 catching still drop passes, and letting average corners lock them out.
The animation is so inaccurate
Yeelicious - I feel that. Had a career going with a 99 receiver and he was going up agains Deandre Baker (a 74 overall I believe) and he blanketed me in coverage. Knocked the ball away too

Madden 25 is underrated. It had a lot more customization and features than any madden after. The graphics might not be the best but its nice on my book.
Great video, my personal favorite is hands down Madden 2006 PS2/GameCube. I played about 15 seasons in franchise mode it was fun.

Yeah, I remember that as well. That is what made Madden 97 so different when it came out on PS1. My staple football game for SNES was the Tecmo Super Bowl series. I had the first and third games in the series and still play them quite a bit. Now with emulation, I mostly play Tecmo Super Bowl on NES with updated rosters but still I miss some of the old school games. I just tried playing Madden 99 and it doesn't hold up quite as well as some of the others.

Interesting point of view. I'm strictly a Franchise Mode player. I have been since Madden 99. Everything else they ever added to the games over the years I could care less; especially MUT. I love being my own personal make-believe GM/Coach and take a really bad team and build them up to be a dynasty.
With that said, for me I had a ton of fun playing Madden 09 on 360. I had the 20th Anniversary Edition, and really enjoyed it. I loved it so much I did what I almost never do and I went out and bought the very next year/iteration in Madden 10 for PS3 and loved it as well. After that, I didn't play another Madden until Madden 25 for PS3, and again, loved it as well. I had the most fun with that version than any Madden in a while. I actually hated 15. I bought that on PS4, and sold it after a month of playing it.
I bought 16 a long time later for about $5 in a used bin, and ended up loving that Madden. I ended up buying Madden 12 for PS3 used after I got bored with 16 because I read on several forums that was the best Madden of that generation, and I'm playing that one right now, and for the most part I'm digging it. Scouting is broken in that game, but the gameplay is pretty solid. I played 08 on PS2 recently and enjoyed it as well.
Maybe it's nostalgia but for me the two best Maddens of all time for me were Madden 2005 on PS2 and John Madden Football '93 on SNES. I had the most fun on those Maddens than any Madden ever, and I've played just about all of them. I have to say Madden 2000, 2003, and 07 all on PC are damned awesome Madden experiences as well. There was a time where I was playing my football games exclusively on PC simply because during the PS1 and PS2 era the PC versions were FAR superior in both creative categories and gameplay and of course graphics.
Madden 07 on PS2 was my favorite, it was just tougher, the CPU would go for it on 4th&2. Also joystick on fieldgoals was a good new development.
Hey bruh thanks for the great content you continue to post. Question what’s the deal with not being able to pick uniforms in online play? Is this a issue or do I have to fix something in my settings?
I always enjoyed the ones where you could import your draft classes and you could see the players you play with and against become big NFL stars on become just benchwarmers. The best part of Madden 05-12 is drafting and watching them progress and flourish and become stars, like taking an 78 overall running back or linebacker and turning him into a stud by about his second or third year in the league by putting him on ground attack and chase and tackle drills respectively. I enjoyed that aspect of the game. When they took out the import classes, it really killed franchise for me.

I agree I love the Franchise Mode on Madden 20 (favorite PS4 Madden) because that’s mostly what I play with online matchups being so expensive for the PS4 compared to the PS3 online days for free. My top maddens of all time: 1. Madden 2005 2. Madden 10 (PS2) 3. Madden 11 4. Madden 25 (2nd fav PS3 game) 5. Madden 20

As a kid I never knew there were next gen versions of 06 - 10. I was mine blown when I saw footage of them. Those games on PS2 looked, more or less, the same to me even though I enjoyed them
From the PC player perspective, Madden died after 08 when it disappeared from PC. Then wow its back for 19 and oh dear, all the customisation is gone ... its not fun and MUT has taken center stage ??? RIP Madden ... it was a great game. still the greatest is 05 and while my PC can play it in some way, it'll keep getting a run.

Madden 03, 04 and 05 are my favorites. Madiden 2003 has a special place in my childhood though, it was the year you can use madden cards during franchise mode. So you could bring back players like Barry Sanders and play them in your franchise. 🔥🔥

Love this video. Madden 10 was by far my favorite simply due to nostalgia. It was my first madden game and I played it for two years before finally getting madden 13 which was a great game for me as well. Good memories man, good times.

Gavin Stutler that’s pretty wack. I didn’t quite get into the franchise mode until madden 12 unfortunately as I was a lot younger so my reasons for loving the game was simply nostalgia.

Madden 2002 was probably my most played madden on both PS1 and PS2 and I enjoyed it a lot. It was the one got me into Madden as I was mostly a NFL Gameday fan during the PS1 days, I then got my first taste of NFL 2K3, first 2K football game I played and since then I haven’t really found any enjoyment out of madden since, I stilled played them for certain game modes I did enjoy, but outside of those modes, the gameplay has never held my attention for long.

The problem with game play is the randomness and what seems to be predetermined animations or outcomes.
Madden 12 being the last really great Madden is so true. That was the last game that had the Create a Team feature and I really miss that. I loved creating my own franchise and trying to win a Super Bowl.
Early 2000s is when I started. Marshall Faulk on hb off tackle was absolutely unstoppable
Had the most fun with Madden 11 by far. Never played online, but had a blast playing it weekly against friends in college. The last time I could really fully get into Madden tbh. I'm a NCAA guy.

Madden 08 is my absolute favorite and also my first madden. I played it on pc for about 5 years! until i got an xbox with madden 13... still sometimes played the 08 game tho bc i had built a few 99 ovr teams in franchise mode by that time lol
I have played every single Madden. Madden 93, Madden 95, Madden 97 and the Original are worth playing. To me Madden 2005 was the GOAT! 2004 was a beast! 2017 was GOAT. Madden 09 & 2010 were great games. 08 was a monster smash!
The first game on ps2 blew my mind! The step up from ps1 to ps2 was incredible.
I do really think that if there are no OP plays in Madden 21, they fix some abilities and add more, have a much better career mode, and make franchise much better, then Madden 21 has a good chance of being in the “good” category. Since some of this might not happen though, I’m expecting it to end up in the “ok” category
21 Has a chance to be good but with the new consoles coming out we will most likely be taking another step back in 22.. probably never have a great one anytime soon

Go Knighthawks Go NFL 2k will bring almost no competition for madden because NFL 2k will be a completely different game. It will be a game like NFL street, it won’t be a simulation style game.

Not a chance in the world the physics are horrendous. I love watching these old games videos cause it reminds me that receivers used to understand how not to just drift out of bounds and blockers would actually look for blocks to make. Madden 07 is my all time favorite I wish they would bring back a real superstar mode and ditch the bs narrative thing.

Pretty good list... Madden 04 is my personal favorite, I'm a big franchise guy and Owner mode was a huge deal at the time. Had an awesome soundtrack too
I’m from New Zealand and the first madden I really got hooked on was madden 04 on Xbox great game alsome soundtrack joe budden always got me pumped up😂 never knew much about the sport/rules of gridiron until I learnt through the tutorials on madden on how to play lol. Over the years I would buy every 2nd edition of the game now I’m downloading M20 at this very minute😅
Still play Madden 07 for Gamecube almost every day.

Yaw tripping!!! Madden 25(360) is the best PLAYING madden there is. The best physics. The best running. The best player movement by far. It lacks modes but to play, it’s the best. Plays just like NCAA 14. Still play it to this day. Again, the 360 version.

I think madden 08 was my best madden to this day gameplay, online play the mod, etc. these new madden games the guys run like their floating and a whole lot more in my opinion.
I enjoyed madden 16, even as an offline gamer at the time.
07 is my goat. Franchise was good and superstar was at its peak. I liked the fact that you didn’t get to pick where you were drafted. 2005 was good too

07 was my first madden game and the first game I ever played on the xbox 360. I loved it, but it stopped working after a couple of years. The 09 was the 2nd one I played and I LOVED it

It's actually a good game. Great graphics and fun. But if you're into retro, definitely check out Madden 05 and NFL 2K5

I started with 05 and ended with 11.
Madden 06 I think was the start of the greatest because one thing that changed was you can run with your qb during a pass play. You can run with Vick as well but also it didn’t have to be a qb sneak play
Madden on the psp was low key so fun. It was ps2 madden but downgraded just a little.
09 on ps3 was weirdly fun with so much crap in the game. 10 was solid nothing fancy. 11 I just couldn’t get into another madden and that’s when I stopped.
I can see how people really like 07 just because of how smooth the gameplay feels.

Madden 64 is still one of my favorites. Just bring back so many memories. When it first released I remember going to Walmart and buying it.
Its sad how the older Madden got the worst the game play would get. 2k5 is still better then any Madden to ever come out.

Madden 07 is the GOAT for me. Best gameplay imo, franchise was still incredible and still had the Tony Bruno show, upgraded Superstar Mode. It’s just the one I remember most fondly for me besides 04 and 05, so I definitely have to put 07 as my personal GOAT.
1. Madden 11. 2. Madden 12 3. Madden 16 4. Madden 17 5. NCAA 14 . Madden 11 has the best commentary, sound effects, franchise mode, edit rosters, no connected careers, fantasy draft, fight for fumble, AI, and gameplay, and great pregame show.

I like 05 more than 04 because of course graphics and gameplay advanced and although 04 was the breakout year but 05 was more balanced and not as vick heavy.
Sad that the madden in mid 2000s still play and animate smoother then then it’s counterpart 15 years later.

10 is my favorite. But I loved 08 on psp. 12 is up there for me as well. And 13.

2006 on PS2. Absolute favorite Madden of all time. Still have tournaments with my friends playing it nearly 20 years later.
Madden 04 & 05 was goated I loved the 06 for the quarter in the pocket juke System They had

1. 04 was the game that got me into madden played 95,99 2001 but never really got into them
2. Madden 12 what can I say best franchise mode of the PS3/360 era and gameplay loved it

It's sad that Madden 08 on the PS2 has better gameplay. The catch animations look sketchy asf but besides that you have more control.

‘06 also had that QB vision, which was....interesting. I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it...unless I had Peyton Manning. That dude had x-ray vision.
