Hey guys, as I mention at the end of the video, this is the last Madden video for a while. I hope you guys enjoyed the recent Madden content explosion! Madden videos will come back however, just gonna mix things up this next month.
I missed it when madden wasn't afraid to put a rock or metal song within its soundtracks, in fates hands anyone? Or does anyone remember when madden 10 had a rock heavy soundtrack that featured judas priest, pantera, korn, black sabbath, iron maiden, rage against the machine and mother fucking slipknot? Prestige remembers.
I use to recommend that Madden put a rock song in the soundtrack, but people would just reply with "Nah rap is better and more popular". I don't care what's better, I just want variety.
I love classic hip hop I’m 27 years old…modern madden music is trash! Who wants to listen to edited trap music?? It’s pure trash and alienates many fans. I just play Spotify through my ps4
Madden06 was so deep, I actually had a physical notepad that I used for a scouting book. Yes I would actually sim seasons of NCAA Football, write down the Names of the Top players & award winners & add them to my draft board because you could import draft classes from NCAA. I literally drafted players onto madden that I had followed since their freshman year lol. I had so many draft steals because I had guys in late rounds that I saw have incredible seasons in college so I knew they were good players. I don't think EA will ever get that deep again.
@@victorhardin2186 oh yeah. I used to draft Vince Young as a rookie. He was a 79 I think. By the end of the first season I could make him a 90 something rating. It's been awhile since I've played it. But yeah it was cool how the players attributes could go up or down based on stats.
I agree with everything, except it having the best Franchise Mode of any American football game. That distinction is still held by Head Coach 09 and *THANK YOU* for doing a Retrospective on it! Can't wait to see it!
04-07 Had so much creativity and innovation. The depth these games had was incredible and it improved year after year. Match that with the additions of the Hit Stick, Skill Stick, QB Cone (I know this mechanic is somewhat divisive but I actually enjoyed the challenge), Lead Blocker, and improved AI, these games were the complete package and made every August a time to look forward to. The immersion is all but gone with Madden. I no longer feel like I'm in the middle of a NFL season when I play. I feel like I'm playing a half-assed, predetermined, undercooked arcade football game that happens to have NFL licensing. The fun is gone. And there's no excuse other than EA's greed and laziness.
After I saw your original video on the downfall of Franchise I wanted to relive my good memories of gaming so I went through my closet found my old ass ps2 and legit went to three different stores to find madden 07 worth it definitely 110%
I played the madden games on PC, and Madden 07/08 were goddamn amazing. I still remember exactly what the back of the box looks like! These two games were basically my childhood
This game was so amazing. I remember getting together with friends and having tournaments with this game. I loved Superstar Mode and playing through college on NCAA 07 and exporting your character to Madden. Oh the love I have for this game.
So, it took place little over a year ago (middle of the covid craze). My parents and sister were going to the campsite and it was an hour away from my audiology location and I was already there. I decided to try to wait 3 hours but however, starbucks closed down their dining which prevented me from gaming on my laptop that I brought with me. So, I was driving around town and saw the Game X Change sign and figured "why not". Got in and saw 3 or 4 ps2s and NFL 2k5. Fast forward a year, now I have over 40 ps2 games and 15 ps1 games. I am happy that I went retro and I watched your videos on what to get next to add to my collection. Thanks!
If you could give someone madden 22 (series X/ps5) right after madden 07 came out back in 2006, I think there would be some complaints of lost depth and features but overall people would be incredibly Impressed with the graphics and the feel. It would be received incredibly well.. Now do the same think with NBA 2k7 and today’s nba 2K21. It would seem like the damn holy grail of video games. There would not be one negative thing said, the game would literally blow peoples mind. A sports game 15 years in the future should have that reaction of 2k. There should be no comparison at all. It’s night and day. Madden however still would have it’s negatives and there’s aspect of madden 07 that still do things sooo much better than madden 22.
@@almadinjohnchristophers.9014 facts but at least 2k is better than madden. Also 2k doesn’t have an exclusive license agreement with the nba. EA just fucked up live over the years and ended it multiple times to focus on madden smh
That is what it was for back then too. PS2 Madden had the worst blocking until recently. Madden 10-14(25) saw massive improvement until more recent editions. PS2 Madden had only two kinds of blocks: the guy in front of you or pull. Double teams almost don't exist. Lateral movement doesn't at all. No traps or anything of that nature.
One of the most underrated features from this era is being able to have a franchise mode controlling all the teams and essentially running your own league.
Thank you! Someone who gets it. Thank you for speaking the truth. This was actually my very first madden game that I played and I gotta say I enjoyed every single moment. One of my childhood favorites 💯. Last year I officially gave up on madden due to the terrible features. I hope EA somehow goes back to its glory days. Something I would definitely pay top dollar for
I feel like Madden in the Golden age was really fun and the game developers knew what they were doing back then I think my favorite man in my opinion is Madden 09 in the PS 2 or psp
I knew as soon as I seen the cover. Your opinion is officially the most valid in the madden community. I grew up on this game and loved it more than any other game I’ve ever owned. Thank you for being a voice of reason 🙏🏽
Rushing Attack had a special place in my heart and when they got rid of the mini games, namely that one, EA died to me. The lack of effort put into Madden now is such a disappointment. They need comp fr
I’d like to request a Luigi’s Mansion (Gamecube) retrospective since you are trying to diverse into other content and since you've done Nintendo games in the past, why not go for a Nintendo console game.
The fact that a game made like 15 years ago is literally better at almost everything other than graphics is insane to me. I'm a hard-core madden guy, play hundreds of games a year, have ranked inside the top 100 multiple times with good records (I was 45-3 this year before I stopped playing for now) and it's just sad. I vividly remember this being my favorite madden.
Just realized this was the only Madden game my dad had on PS2 and I have it sitting with a handful of NCAA games that he gave me, one of which being NCAA Football 14! Super glad to hear I have two of the best of both series.
I swear you have called 07, 08 and 06 the greatest madden of all time lol. And honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them. I haven’t played 6th gen madden games in soooo long but after binging your videos today I think imma have to get me a ps2. Grab me copies of madden 05-08 (and maybe even 11 for my 360) and get the fuck down. Thanks for all of your great content as your videos and reliving how much joy these games brought me growing up.. is like therapy for me
I'll never stop being disappointed at how far Madden and football games have fallen in recent years. Current gen Madden is so ass, my friends and I stopped playing years ago, now we just have the memories.
Oh the sweet childhood memories of Madden 07. Sleeping over at my friends’ house; we’d order pizza and play franchise mode. Listening to the amazing soundtrack (my favorite was Drones by Rise Against). Such an innocent time. Bittersweet 🥲
Never stopped playing this era of madden. I remember when i found out you could import your NCAA character over to madden to continue their career. Bothered my dad for weeks to get NCAA 06 🤣
My first Madden game ever. Played in on a laptop. Didn't understand American Football but after I understood the sport, I got into the sport itself and the game too.
The only problems with Madden 07 are the backup RB stats and the Roster Management. Both of which can be remedied easily by taking control of all 32 teams. Even then you can set most of the stuff for the teams you don't want to play with to be automated.
Me and my dad used to create our own players and team and just mow through seasons in franchise mode back in the day and madden 07 was easily my favorite one
Position battles might have been the most underrated franchise feature given the near endless storylines, controversies, and unique playthroughs. So many times I had to hear about Jerome bed is losing his job to Staley, or Dominic Rhodes beating out Joseph Addai for the number one HB in Indy. I know the current NFL typically doesn't have many position battles but Madden should implement it if the players are within three overall of each other instead of five, five can be a bit drastic in current day Madden.
I agree with you. From a person that started to play madden in 2001 and loved all games up until I got my 360 and bought madden 08 for my next gen fix. Graphically, wow what an upgrade… nothing else was though. Everything was worse or just gone. Gameplay was so stiff and robotic, franchise mode lost depth, the commentator was awful, mini camp got all but scrapped… etc. While I do think madden 22 is trending in the right direction no madden game has been close to replicating the magic it had back then. I have been so let down by the series that my standards for the game have dropped so much even the slightest improvement seem significant. When you compare the game to its PS2 version you wonder what the hell have they been doing for 15 years. It’s sorta heartbreaking
Don’t forget about madden 09 the last game released for the OG Xbox. Been addicted to that game recently some good improvements over 08 such as all madden without the cone if you want, super sim / total simulation control and all the franchise fixings such as player weapons. Would love to see you do a retrospective on that one
The only Madden game I ever owned on the PS2 was Madden 08, which is my all time favorite Madden of all time, but I’ve definitely heard a lot of great things bout 07. One day, I’ll be playing it.
Hey, big fan of your videos. Just letting you know that you cant use your created playbook in franchise mode in 07. I saw a video of a guy saying Madden 05 was that last one you could do it on
I never got 07 even though I played the hell out of 06 and 08. Naturally, 07 seems like that perfect balance. Definitely gonna have to pick it up somewhere
This game started a lot of fist fights between my little brother and I colts was my team and eagles was his Marvin Harrison Reggie Wayne best memories of course I had to pull out Sean Alexander when I lost
The franchise mode was so detailed. I completed ALL 30 years. It was a full time job, so I put it on my resume as owner of The Browns that eventually relocated to Portland Oregon as the Bulldogs. 😀
Not a huge Madden fan, generally bought one per console and somehow this is the last one I own. Glad I own the last good one, might have to go back to it, never finished my career.
You can‘t put your own created playbook in franchise mode. You can use it only in exhibition match. The last Madden you can do this was Madden 05. Are I am wrong? Best wishes from Germany! I love your channel!!!!!!
One of my absolute favorite Maddens of all time on the ps2. If your Dad was a hall of famer in thay position your picking, you start at a much higher overall!
The one thing I like about the Superstar mode is the IQ test answers and some of them were quite funny like The answer to the next question is true, it was removed in the next Gen versions.
07 was indeed the greatest. 08 has the same gameplay as 07. 06 left elusive backs out in the cold 07 had franchise roles first 08 added weapons to Gen 6 and Gen 7 but it didn't have the same feel and made the menu clutters for older consoles. 07 also had NFL street controls - MAJOR W 08 had awful, childlike and arcadey color splash menus 07 had clean, white menus while 06 had dark menus that weren't that appealing. 07 added Tackle Battles as well. 08 is good but 07 is GREAT.
Playing an NCAA Dynasty, exporting the draft class, and playing with your players and other big names in the Senior Bowl in Madden>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything they’ve done in the last 14 years

Those Maddens lowkey got me into Avenged Sevenfold and Alter Bridge.
I use to recommend that Madden put a rock song in the soundtrack, but people would just reply with "Nah rap is better and more popular". I don't care what's better, I just want variety.
Yeah I loved that bubba sparxxx song back in the mud
Underrated comment. And this is coming from a hip hop head. Only I can actually actually appreciate other genres and prefer variety.

2007 was my bread and butter as a kid. Still is my go to. The sound track the gameplay everything.

06 is my favorite but agree 2007 added onto what was already great about 06 🔥🏈
*04 is my fav oat but 07 is my 2nd.*
Facts brodie. Still bump some of the music to this day!
Michael Vick's passing vision cone was so small. Peyton's was massive.
It was the whole field 😅
Whats real cool is if you start a franchise with vick and you get better the cone will expand.

Tom Brady shit was just like Peyton shit lol
it was the awareness attribute
What blows me away is the fact that old maddens where so detailed for their time and there should have been no way madden could have gotten so bad
Huge facts
Before MUT they actually had to make a great game and it was the goal lol. Now the goal is to only make money, not a great game. Sad times!
They got comfortable and lazy like a lot of things in life.
Exactly fam we all thought it would get better but boy was we wrong smh

The vision cone is underrated. Made QB attributes matter and was a good way to increase the skill ceiling and gap
Madden 07 is like that one kid who got straight As in school, and had a successful career, only to see their kids and grandkids be diasappointments
I'm looking at you Madden 13-22

Madden 06 was the best one imo. But all the maddens basically from madden 95 to 07 were truly worthy.
Madden 04 had the best soundtrack and nostalgia
This is what madden fans today won't think about franchise mode, only og madden players can relate
I'm glad that I ordered Madden 07 for Christmas this year. :3
This in my eyes is the best Madden ever PS2/XBox/GameCube - top to bottom
I had Madden 07 on the PC and I'd argue that it was the best version of the game that year.
This video inspired me to buy Madden 07 along with NCAA Football 07. Now I just need a PS2 lol
5:30 I haven’t bought 22 yet but ironically they did add the Rich Eisen Show IIRC.
07 was indeed the greatest.
08 has the same gameplay as 07.
06 left elusive backs out in the cold
07 had franchise roles first
08 added weapons to Gen 6 and Gen 7 but it didn't have the same feel and made the menu clutters for older consoles.
07 also had NFL street controls - MAJOR W
08 had awful, childlike and arcadey color splash menus
