Love your choice of glaze combos. Soooo unique! Would love to see a video on some different glazing techniques that you have done, especially the peacock technique 😍
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! It really helps me to want to make more videos 😂❤️. That’s a great idea …I will video the peacock technique and think of other techniques that I can demo!
Thank you so much for the kiln opening. I’m so happy you used the black clay. I just bought the same one, and I haven’t had time to use it yet. I love the Pearl white on that clay. I love the glaze combos you make 😊
Thank you so much!! It’s such a beautiful clay body…finding glazes for it is challenging 😆 I love that you love the pearl white on the black clay…it’s growing on me! Thanks again 😘
Of course you can even sell the mugs with the smooth chip on the bottom. They are handmade. I have an area where I sell my pots that I call Land of the Misfit pots! I have a sign that says that and explains that it may have a slight imperfection but it doesn’t effect it’s use and I sell them for a few dollars less. Girrrrllll! That bowl is amaaazing!! My gosh! I don’t have Vert luster!! One of the only ones I haven’t bought!! Gosh oh mighty it’s amazing!! You could always try bisque fix on it since it’s so damn perfect!!! That peacock bowl is beautiful! I can’t believe it didn’t run off the pot. It was soo close!! I LOVE muddy waters! It gives amazing blues!!! Omg your dogs are hilarious!! I’m soo glad our pup doesn’t howl!! Love the wine glass!!!! That pinkish bowl almost made its own feet for itself! Lol That satin patina is gorgeous!! I love the feel of it as well. How funny I am trying to find a good yellow combo as well! Haha. My husband is a huge YELLOW fan and I don’t want just plain yellow, as he had suggested. I just bought the frosted lemon as well! He loves yellow! Our 2 vehicles are yellow and one of the motorcycles!! Lol I love the shape of your mugs too. A lot of people have bellies that are too big and even with my huge hands they don’t feel comfortable! Oh no what happened that hubby has to take care of it? Gosh if only I could hand that stuff over to my hubby! He wouldn’t have a clue as to what to do. He’s just throw it away! Lol. The mug is absolutely gorgeous. You may want to get a pack of witness cones and put a set on each shelf as well as different areas of the kiln. You only have to do the ones in different areas a few times. It will really tell you a lot. Looks like your bottom is getting a little hotter. That casserole dish is awesome. Be careful when you use anything as bakeware to heat it up in the oven and don’t just put it into the hot oven as it will make it crack. Unless you use clay made for bakeware you have to be really careful with it. Oh WOWOWOWOW! The last bowl is the one you made the video with that is stunning!!!! Jeeez!! OMG YOU HAVE ME ALL CRAZY OVER HERE!! That peacock bowl is out of this world!! Omg! I want to do that soo badly but I don’t have black clay!!! It’s soo rich! I can’t believe it all moved so much when you left it bare underneath the peacock!!!!! That is my absolute favorite!! I know my commenting has gone a bit far today but dang girl!! The muddy waters on the velvet underglaze is awesome. If you want that velvet ug to be shiny apply clear over it. With the glazes that your afraid of running be sure to just recede each coat. So go to the middle with the first layer. The second later go up a half to 1 inch and then the last layer put on the rim! It will still leave color on most of the piece but won’t drip off. Also all of the mayco glazes that don’t have crystals in them are stable by themselves!! I couldn’t believe I didn’t know this for so long but it even says this on the bottles!! When you start layering that is when you start getting running! This kiln load was amazing and I can’t believe how excited I get when I see you have put up a video! Lol. I’m so happy for you! Ok so I’m all done! Hahaha
Omg I love your comments and feedback!!! I heard muddy waters comes out blue the more coats you add?! The texture is kinda rough with 3 coats. Let’s find a yellow TOGETHER 😂😂 I’m going to RE read this later ..soooooo much sanding to get done before Tuesday 😳
So I was wondering what other colors you were thinking for the yellow combo? I have used the celadon yellow from amaco with cobalt wash drops on top of flux and I love the way it turned out but I’d really like to see what other yellows I can find. I only have the marigold and the Frosted lemon. But, I also don’t want to get every yellow there is just for his pieces. lol I have a pic of the bowl I made with the celadon, flux and cobalt but I can’t send it to you though here so I think I’ll send it to you on messenger! The middle of the bowl is hideous so please don’t mind that! Lol
@@micheledickey4066 omg please send!!! Lol thank u! I don’t care if it’s hideous…I’m on the hunt for a good yellow. I only have the marigold and frosted lemon too 😆- I’m envisioning like a drippy white coming down onto the yellow…I need to study my test piece more. I’m looking online for other yellows too to try…will definitely keep you posted!

Hi. You have some lovely pieces in this kiln opening. I especially like the mugs where the bottoms stuck to their stands. I'd accept them as a gift, so I'm sure that whoever gets them will love them. I also liked the swirly chip and dip dish. The crack shouldn't matter too much. Did you say you have a video on how to make it, or that you're going to do one? The one you made in 2 pieces.
Hi!!! Thank you Carolyn ❤️appreciate the feedback on the mugs and the bowl with the crack! I tend to get over focused on the small details that no one else would see 😂 so it’s reassuring! Yup I have a video that I’m editing of how to make the 2 piece bowl with the glaze combo. Hoping to have it completed and posted this weekend so definitely check back! Wishing you tons of love, happiness, abundance and joy in the new year 💫🫶❤️ 🙌
Omg girl you know I have to comment all through the dang video! I love the coasters! I’m soo excited to see this!!! Yes jute rope would look soo cute. A lot of companies are having to change their recipes in clay and glazes because of the silica no longer being available so many things have changed but they aren’t telling people. That clay definitely looks very different.
How old is your nephew! What an awesome mug. I really like the gray mug! When using dark clay remember to use the color theory of mixing colors so when you have black clay and you use a certain color on it you will get a similar result as if you were to mix those colors in paint. So black and white = gray. Does that make sense?
Love your work SO MUCH!!! I might have asked you before.....but what is your Kiln? I've decided it's time to take the plunge and get a new one. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much Marsha!! I have a skutt KM 1027 from 2003 lol but my husband RE built it completely about 3 years ago! The customer service at skutt is amazing- they are so wonderful and helped us rebuild it virtually! I fully support your decision to buy a new one 😂😘

Hi there, and so sorry if this was answered already. I tried searching through the comments :) I love your work, it's much like mine! I'm curious what cone you fire to, and if you use witness cones in both top and bottom of your kiln to make sure your kiln actually fired to that cone? I'm mainly asking because if I wanted to try any of your combos, I fire to cone 6 and don't know if I'd get similar results. I also do the peacock technique and now I really want to try my Winterwood as the top glaze (similar to Sandstone). I totally think you can gift things that aren't perfect. People always get mad at me if I throw something away for a small thing. I keep a shelf of my seconds in my living room, and when friends and family come over, I let them take anything they want. OMG, they LOVE it, lol. Thanks for sharing, I bet everyone loved their gifts.
Molly! My name is Molly too 😍 we might be twins 👯♀️ 😂. So I have used cones in the past but got lazy about it to be honest. I am going to order the self supporting ones so I can just pop them in. But I have tested before with them. I do fire to a cone 6 which makes the glazes more runny than when I used to fire to a 5. I started using a slow cool schedule like a year ago to alleviate pin holes mainly for my darker clay bodies…they would also get pin holes and the slow cool is the fix!! I think you will get the same or very similar results with a regular cone 6 firing tho..I didn’t see a huge difference in glaze function other than no pin holes. I’m happy to send you my slow cool schedule if you wanna try it tho! Oh winter wood would be beautiful! Truthfully I wasn’t crazy about the feel of the sandstone over the peacock because it’s very matte/rough feeling. I may RE fire that bowl to get a more smooth finish 😂thanks so much for the suggestion!!! That’s a great idea! I also have a bin of pots that we make candles with from our honey bee hives - tons of wax leftover ..they make a crappy pot seem cool and functional 😂😂
@@thehappyhomesteadnh It's a darn good name ;) If you haven't used the self supporting cones before, you'll be happy to switch to them. I only use those. My last two firings, the witness cones aren't bending all the way, so I know I need to tweak my kiln a bit before my next firing. I do a hold to help with pinholes, but I do think I should do a slow cool schedule as well. Although my kiln has 3" brick, so it already cools sooooooo slowly 😂 Usually about 30-36 hours. Crazy.
