- OVER / UNDER! 2024 IKON LX21 BUILD REVIEW ($$$)
The new iKon LX21 has raised the bar in so many ways from it's innovative Livewell system, to it's build quality and last but not least it's ride. Y'all have been asking for the OVER/UNDER and it's finally here! Records will be smashed, opinions will be formed but at the end of the day...This iKon boat is, in our opinion, one of the highest quality built boats with the one of the best rides in bass boats today. It's costs money to be #1 and that's a fact.
** These prices are at the absolute highest end of MSRP and through negotiations with dealers the prices could be $5k to $10K cheaper **

This is why I have respect for Andy and the Team Marine channel. He has every reason to shill for Ikon given the other videos he’s done with Ikon but he’s honest with the O/U
He wants it about 20k cheaper. That's still way over priced.
Andy, I applaud you 👏. You got this one right. It is OVERPRICED! If you remember, last year, I called and told you, "HCB Yachts here in Knoxville, TN is building a new bass boat." I saw the new Ikon at the classic. It's really nice. I realize only a small group of people can afford the boat. 99% of those who buy it will never catch the fish they thought they would to justify buying it. The industry is headed for disaster. When bass boat prices get close to saltwater boats, something has to change. Great video!
Yup , they don't build bass boats anymore for blue color workers , they now build them for upscale yuppies that has extreme wealth or endless credit cards
That is insane!!!! No way
What do y'all think? OVERPRICED or UNDERVALUED?
** These prices are at the absolute highest end of MSRP and through negotiations with dealers the prices could be $5k to $10K cheaper **
overpriced. i make a nice living, but 140K, no way!
Made for the rich of the rich to be somebody. Look what I got scenario. Value of a home 🏠🤔
If Nitro can sell for literally 50% less than this, so can Ikon and everyone else. Johnny Morris doesn't have some secret network of supply chains where he gets things at significantly lower prices than everyone else. This is the Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet effect, whereby simply offering the same thing others make at outrageously ludicrous prices make it seem in the minds of many as though the product is worth it. Guess what?… It isn't! And this is actually worse because Boats depreciate more than almost anything in the world, and watches like those actually appreciate in value because more schmucks can't wait to own one given the farcical limited availability "created" but the brands/manufacturers themselves.
Way overpriced for the guy who makes 80k and has a family. I hope they never sell a boat.
For that price it should have a shitter like the allison
Keith Poche style boats are looking real good now.
Thanks for being an honest voice for us 9am to 5pm bass fishing , boat consumers.
Andy and team, man have I enjoyed finding your channel. I was in the market for a new bass boat when I happened upon your Ikon videos. I was instantly impressed with not only what I saw but also the educated comments and opinions you were making about what you were seeing in the factory as well as your experience with it on the water. I was sure this was the boat that I wanted and then...the over/under video came out. Again, your comments made sense and while I was disappointed I was ready to let the Ikon possibility go as I ultimately wanted the right boat at the right price. You mentioned in passing that if this boat was at the 120,000 mark it might be considered "under valued". Well long story short, I picked up a fully loaded Ikon, much like your build, that had been used at the tradeshows with 6 hours on the boat at a number close to the 120,000 mark. While it's still a lot of money I feel much better about the purchase because of your honest remarks and your high praise for Ikon and the Ikon team. Thank you for your video. It made a difference!!
Awesome Michael!!! We are happy to help and we are glad you ended up in the iKon.
I’m glad you said over priced, I would have definitely called you a kiss ass. Earner my respect. I haven’t heard you say one bad thing about the boat so I was thinking there may be some bs happening behind the scenes but I really appreciate the honesty.
Good for you Andy for speaking the truth. That's what the people need. Build great quality for less. This is the challenge that these companies should put on themselves.
Thank God someone finally said it. The industry is out of control. But even a 100k is outrageous. If I can purchase a home cheaper than a boat, there is a problem. I said this after the Gambler video. The industry is pricing out there biggest market. The weekend warriors are being left behind.
Andy, you don't purchase a bass boat, taking less options, like a third screen, Lithium batteries. You didn't add transportation, dealer preps and sales tax. With all I mentioned, your at 157 to 160. I purchased a Caymas CX 19 with 36 Lithium, Lithium cranking and electronics 3 12 126sv power pole charger, up grades on trailer, 120 force, keel, hydraulic jackplate, custom color, custom cover, the works. The boat runs at 72, stability great, rides great. A tip if you can pick the boat at the factory, and take to the dealer, which I did, save a ton on transportation and delivery time. I live in Florida, and Caymas in Ashland City, TN. Took it to the dealer, in Dalton Georgia. Also the limited dealer network, they will not compete, like other brands, except Bass Pro brands, for your business. I saved a ton shopping 3 dealers in 3 states.
Why are you comparing a 19 foot basic boat to a 21 foot fully built out flagship type boat?
I have always been loyal to Skeeter. But, when I priced a new one in 2020, I could not justify the 120k price tag. There is certainly no way I can willingly spend 140+. I went and bought a Nitro instead because of the price. The boating i dustry is just getting to pricey for many people. A lot folks will balk at even 90k for a boat. Hopefully the big wins in major tournaments in tin boats will help start balancing the market some.
If everybody paid cash like actually counting out your hard earned money to the seller it would be real like when you got 50 thousand counted out to the seller I dont care how wealthy you are you would say WTF and walk away, and thats just a 50K boat can you imagine counting 100k worth of C notes to buy a boat. I count out 1600 to Katrina at the shop to fix my junk and I get the WTF am I doing feeling. Good work Andy really honest as always.
The best part was you had a previous video where you said that they claimed they weren’t gonna be the cheapest but they weren’t gonna be the most expensive. They are by far the most expensive boat and that’s even including the very small production boats that are very expensive.
Great respect for the way you handle yourself. Honesty is just so dam important. Love it! 👍🏻❤️
Going to help Nitro sell even more boats haha
Or help the “tiny boat” nation !
My 14’ v bottom with a 9.8hp, well, it’s looking like I’ll keep it longer!
I had to be honest! 🤷♂️
And Keith Poche is going to put fish you with his Jon Boat
Much respect for the gut, honest opinion. Don’t forget good old sales tax. May as well call it 160 K out the door.
😱😱😱 Wow! Maybe the best rig out there so I can understand being #1 in price but damn!!!!
As much as I'm sure the new Icon is a great boat, that's more than my house! No way is a bass boat worth that. Great vid Andy, glad that you are keeping it real! Was afraid your trip to Icon would have swayed your opinion, but you tell it like you see it. Keep up the great work!
Had my hands on it at classic and definitely nice. I can't justify trading in my loaded 90k Falcon Predator for 142k boat. Maybe this boat is made for extremely rich people where money is no object. 90k for me is still ridiculous if you know what I mean. Great video Andy. Thanks
I'd take the predator over any boat made. You have yourself the best of the best imo
@Shane 👊 Her is very sexy, and you can land a helicopter on the front deck brother.
Gotta pay to play I guess! I'm more interested in that 20 and 19footers price. They should be more competitive there. Kudos to Weidas Marine for helping Andy out on this.
And this mentality IS the biggest issue today. Too many people have adopted this mantra and it's literally WHY these companies charge the insane prices they do. Just like the automotive industry, if you stop buying at overinflated prices for long enough, these same units will be reduced by literal thousands of dollars… Masqueraded as a "DISCOUNT", when in fact at reduced prices they're still making a killing.
Thank you for being honest, I just bought my first new Bass boat. Sold my Lund and bought a loaded 20ft TRx patriot for $69k , yes there's probably faster and better boats but 75mph and a massive deck with Active live and the ghost its a bargain in comparison.
The build price referenced in this video is the Manufacturers “Suggested” Retail Price (MSRP). You can contact a dealer for a competitive price quote. Not sure how else to explain that part.
The LX21, loaded out, is our largest, most expensive model. iKon will be introducing a 20’ model this summer and a 19’ model early next year. We will also be releasing a VLX model which will sell for less. Plans are to have a boat size/model to compete with everyone.
As far as speed goes, my LX21 that is referenced in this video, is purposely completely overloaded with electronics, gear, and tackle for testing purposes. The boat is 21’10” and runs 68mph all day long. Less rigged boats have tested at 70.
The average middle class fisherman can’t afford 80k bass boat much less one that cost 147k. Why Nitro sells more boats
I ordered one, was far less expensive then 140k, the pricing from dealer is fair.
@@williamgardner9596 There’s a difference between MSRP generated by a youtube channel and the price you’d actually pay at a dealer.
@Jay Bee well Jay, understand that as much as Andy knows about boats, he’s still a RUclipsr that wants views. The price he quoted was the a maxed out MSRP. If I need to explain that to you then I’m wasting my time. Also, try to understand the cost associated with building a boat and that the “actual” price of an iKon isn’t really any different than some others.
@@ChuckPippinBassFishing I think you’re missing the point Chuck. Even $120k is just way out there beyond the reach of most of us. Research, design, build etc we all know ain’t free or cheap, but we’re talking a boat. Something that if you ain’t a professional is very hard to justify that much of an expense. I hope y’all make it, displace the guys at the top, but quite frankly there’s been very few that make it and at y’all’s price I don’t see y’all being around long term. You can make the greatest boat the world has ever seen but if people can’t afford it don’t matter.
I love your thumbnail pics. I have 3 kids so not much money play with. I bought a 16ft aluminum lowe skorpion with crappie package, for 15,500. Have had loads of fun catching fish. One day I hope to afford something bigger and nicer.
Getting out there and making memories is the most important thing man. Not the boat you’re doing it in. But upgrading is certainly a good goal to shoot for
@@Everarmed89 you’re right! Thanks man
that is nuts , you can get a 2023 SKEETER 75TH ANNIVERSARY FXR21 loaded up for 100K
WOW, Speachless!!!
Excellent video as always and very honest opinion. This is definitely becoming a problem and killing the weekend tournament angler’s trying to stay competitive and it’s not just the boat companies
The exact same thing has happened to the car industry. They have overpriced their suvs and trucks and now they can't sell them. They're just sitting on the lot. A man tries to go purchase a basic light duty pickup these days and it's starting around 50k depending on the dealer. ridiculous.
How the hell can a normal blue collar man afford that ikon I think is a great boat manufacture but jeez a normal bluecollar man cannot afford any bass boat so how are we supposed to get into the sport when we work out ass off and can't afford any brand bass boat?????......Mr. Andy I love you videos and love your honesty on boat brands
iKon is great quality, I watched your videos and decided to buy one. I made a mistake, it’s a really nice bass boat with terrible performance. It needs a 300 motor to get it past 62mph. Wish I would have known before I bought.
It's getting to the point I'm like "can I afford a $142k boat? Easily.
Would I ever spend that on a boat? Abso-freakin-lutely NOT."
The industry is insane
So I had a chance to check one out. It was passing through coming back from the classic, one of the two headed to Texas. It's definitely a beautiful boat. Lots of saltwater influence and super wide, it's a massive boat. Love it but I'll wait 20 years to buy one, I'll be able to afford it then
Holy Crap!!!!! Technology and wanting to be the top guy on the block has done this to the industry. A good boat is as near a hand made machine as one can find today but for the electrical system. and I may have shown my age but the tech has gone Ape Crap Crazy. I don't need 5 screens on my boat, I don't have poles and fish the same places those who have them do. I dont see how the Bass Fishing industry is going to support all these boat manufactures as it is.Only a few are going to survive the next ten years.
I love bass boats, and the Ikon, but man… it’s crazy what they cost now. Add in taxes and interest rates going so high.. And I’m not sure how people buy them. You are right, I could see a huge market correction in prices down the road.
Thankyou Andy for telling it like it is!! I respect you and I know you were involved with it but once again as I stated before there out of there bleeping minds!!!!! The working man as myself can not afford these!! I’m near retirement and I’ve been saving a nest egg for a new bass boat someday but I would rather find an old Champion and have you put a new motor on it . I’m one of your 95percent of the people who won’t buy it
Thank you TEAM MARINE.
My issue is that I just couldn’t justify that money either. I can go out and get a loaded out basscat that’s 1-3 years old for 65-80k? So almost half the price? I just can’t see them selling a large number of these a year.
Because it’s used? Obviously this boat isn’t marketed at you. It’s for the top 1% of the industry. How many 21ft glass rigs do you see on the water? This is for the top earners who bass fish.
Price aside I'm still going to look into this rig. Quality is #1 in my book
If you want quality and a boat that will last forever (if not the company will make it right) you need to check out Gator Trax Strike Series. Watch Andy's over/under on that boat
U can buy a super car at this price. This is ridiculous...so relieved that u were honest
I honestly believed you would’ve not said it’s over.. once again you have proven to me your not bought an paid for.. great job on all the updates on this boat. I live down the road for their shop. If I had 142,000 to blow I’d jump on it. The boat is awesome. I’ve actually got to see one on water. I left it behind in my skeeter 21R.. lol
A lottery boat. I would have one rigged out just like you in a New York heartbeat. But back to reality. The working man can't afford it. Boy, it is beautiful. I think Ikon will be here for 2 more years but then like Gambler, It will go by by.
We have come to the point where we all want the electronics setup like you listed for any boat. Only problem is we're trying to find a boat that's affordable.
It's all about precedent. If 1 person buys an ikon then every other manufacturer will use that as basis for insane pricing holds that will cause a market reset. As a millennial who is smart with money, I'll be glad to have the pick of the lot when the boat industry finally shoots itself into he face and can't give em away fast enough. I can catch plenty from the shore until then.
!!!!!!!!!!!overpriced!!!!!!!!!!! Glad you told the truth. It looked like you struggled to do it, but damn you did it. 👍
I saw one of these up close at lake of the ozarks this weekend. Looks nice!!! I am sure it eats water but wow, 2 to 2 1/2 times more than I paid for my Caymas cx 19, depending on set up!!! Maybe my kids can afford one if I die in the Caymas and life insurance pays out!!!
Great vids Andy!!!
Keep it up
hello everyone new to the channel, i watch the o/u video on the lx21 i buy the way own one, purchased back in april 2023, i listened to you comments on the lx21, i would like to talk about this product , I've owned other bass boat brands in the past , all i can say is there is no comparison, NONE, you talk about trying to compare others due to the price for what most other boat manufactures are charging i feel they are over priced and not the iKon
the craftmanship and ride is like no other, yes its not a 70 plus mph boat, (at least not yet) but I'm personally willing to give up a little speed for the overall performance and craftmanship of my new rig .with out naming other boats brands the quality is not very good i know its a boat load of money but if your looking for the best all around rig look no further ( and buy the way i paid full price so I'm not getting anything out of this) just talking from my experience
all i can say is if you can afford it and are serious about it take one for a ride and i dont mean on a blue bird day put it what we call the washing machine 20-30 boats a head of you out of the gate at a tournament or on a rough day with true 2-3 footers and let us know your thoughts and remember they make Chevy's and Cadillac's it all depends on taste looks and your wallet but to say its over priced doesn't add up when you compare to others that my 2 cents thanks for allowing the GP to post Brian
Yep, 100% agree. Way too high. I am one of the guys that can afford it but I just refuse to pay that kind of money for a Bass Boat.
Oh ya the personal letter from Jacob Wheeler value😂😂😂😂😂
I love watching these, makes me love my old champion even more!
It's not a bassboat in the world worth a 142k, totally agree!!! Waaaaaaay to many used boats completely loaded that are in top shape. It's a hard no for me too but I do love the boat
That’s insane.
Not to worry about their boat pricing because they won't be around as a bass boat builder in a few years. There has always been some high-quality bass boats of their time and you don't see them around any longer as a new boat. Legend comes to mind and i am sure others. Good job Andy.
Legend got bought out by Johnny Morris and he did away with them thats why they aint here and Legend was a sweet boat
I spoke to one of the dealers who said all their boats they bought are already sold. Im pretty sure they do not have an issue selling these boats right now.
Nitro looks really good now.
🤮🤮🤮
@@tailorbaggins2541 you got 120k?
@@mandogfish7418 I am not trying to be disrespectful in anyway, because I didn't always have it. At one point in my life I lived in my truck. Yes, even at $140k I could buy it outright like I did my last boat. My take on Nitro doesn't have to do with money. The ride is terrible and the components break too quickly. I would rather buy a different brand used vs a new top of the line Nitro for the same price, all other things being equal. .
I had the privledge of getting a Test run with Chuck here in Central Florida. Hands down best bass boat I've ever been on . Ive Had and currently have Rangers. I trade them every 2-3 years. I will purchase the new Ikon boat but have decided to build one out to my specs and colors instead of buying one built by dealer. The price is higher than other boats but until you ride in one or see it up close and actually feel the lines you won't understand. Im Completely sold on the boat. There is no plastic in this boat. That is huge and it's one of the major reasons I trade the Rangers.
There's no plastic in my 25 year old Gambler either. Oh yeah, and it'll do 80mph, not 62 fully loaded. Have fun with that.
So much for the working man that's crazy.
DEFINETLY gonna start buying Powerball Tix. IF I had the disposable income to buy a mega bass boat, THIS would be the one, hands down,
I agree. In the market and able but I see a correction happening
Thanks for telling like it is.
Can you do a video on a run through of service interval comparisons. Like the Mercury 100hr and 300hr service kits vs. the competition's. And then do a follow up video actually showing the service.
yet another reason I run a 198P tin rig!
When you look at taxes, child expenses, house, vehicles, and retirement investments there is no way to budget for a 100K boat. To COMFORTABLY buy one of these you have to make North of 300K. Talk about having bass fishing priced out of the working man’s budget. That said I will always buy 5+ year old boats and do what I want with them in terms of upgrades.
Just don't participate. Buy what you can afford and have fun. That's what I do. 👍
Exactly……, all these cry babies who flinch when they see the coin for certain bass boats. My formula is 1100 to 1300$ per foot for used
Depending on the brand. Nitro not included: don’t know prevailing prices of trash.
@@MrMynameisozzy That’s actually a good way to look at it. I’m looking at used boats in the 19 foot range with 200 hp engines. For something in the 2017 to 2018 range it’s shaking out to 30 to 35K with good electronics and an Ultrex. I found 2015 ZX225 with a 225 SHO with 189 original hours, Ultrex, Active Target, and two 12 inch HDS Live graphs for 29K and change. Good values are out there to be had for the patient buyer who isn’t afraid to wheel and deal a bit with a seller.
Thanks so much for honest review.
They said they wanted the safest boat that anyone can get into and drive….especially for high schoolers. They can’t afford it!
I think the loaded Vexus runs in the $120-125k.
The honesty!
Thanks for the great video and being on about saying the bass boat industry needing to come back to reality
Ever boat should come with a cover
Andy, How would you compare the ikon in overall build quality and performance to the bass cat comparable , like a jaguar or puma …I paid 86 for my 2021 jag. 250 pro xs. Bobs hyd plate, Garmin single front and rear. Live scope included, no poles and standard batteries. Thanks for this over / under. Well done.
We have officially entered wakeboat prices.
I also remember when ski/wakeboats were equal or less than flagship bass boats...
@@bobsmith1841 same can be said for pontoons as well!
Yeah It looks nice and all but I’ll stick to my FXR 21. Even that the price new was insane I picked mine up used. Always let somebody else take the depreciation hit.
142000 I bought a new alumacraft competitor 185 a new f150 and built a shed to park them in for less than that last year but if you can afford it great
Currently what’s the best value for a 20’ bass boat?
Best Value...Nitro unfortunately! We wouldn't buy one buy it's hard to beat them on price
100% spot on!!
For years, a person's boat was roughly the same value as the truck that is towing it. Example. New 50k truck pulling 50 boat. Now it seems that the prices are over double what new trucks are
Andy!!! What's up!!! Good boat but it's over price!!! To high won't last. I give it 5years Max 🤠 other good boats for way less 🤑 money for New. Just my input!!!😬😬😬
I can’t understand how these boats kept climbing after they hit $75k
People kept buying them…as long as people continue to buy them, they’ll continue increasing their profit margins.
Lots of dumba$$#$ in the world..
At 20yrs with 6% interest your paying over$1000 a month on 1400000 that's nuts
As an owner of a Hydrasport, I can attest to the quality of the build, but the price for this (or ANY) Bass OR Flats Boat is ludicrous and all people have to do is refuse to buy at these exorbitant prices and WATCH how quickly they lower them to a more reasonable & affordable price point.
It's a damn BOAT… Not a house and people shouldn't have to pay a mortgage to own one, at last not in the small form factor of these small boats. Even $120K is insultingly and grossly overpriced!
The quality of this though is no better than the other 3 bBass Boats these same people made over the years, and the Stratos 201 Pro XL is still the benchmark in terms of everything in my experience.
A Sea Hunt 265 ultra Ranges from $134K - $155K and that's LEVELS better than a measly little bass boat. WHAT exactly are you getting that's even comparable to a bigger boat? A literal Metric Ton less materials and far lass capability for the same money… It just makes no sense.
You Sir are doing the community a great service by providing the info you do and I can only hope people take notice that they've been paying way too much for far too long and something needs to be done to bring the industry back in check.
sans a couple graphs…don’t see where you could lower the price much. The rest of the stuff is pretty much standard on a top of the line rig.
I will buy a bag of ice, a floating thermometer, a 6 foot charging cord, and stick with my Phoenix.
It’s expensive but people are comparing todays boats vs boats 15 years ago. Hell get into the center console off shore game if you think this bad. Boats in the mid to upper 30’ range are running 700,00 +.
Would like to know how many of their current lineup boats they are projecting to sell this year, next year, and beyond - also what is their margin per boat now and 2-3 years from now. They did mention they have more affordable boats in the future, correct?
Thanks for being honest, that is ridiculous!
This is why I by used
Can we get some over unders on some musky boats? I know there’s not really any out there specifically but bass style boats with big rod lockers and lots of storage ??
Ikon is the way of the bass boat future such a impressive company and rig 🍻 thanks for the great content
Are you being sarcastic ?
Andy, Ikon has to make a name for themselves being the new kid on the block, 142k is not the way to do it
Fully loaded boat shouldn’t be over 80,000 they are getting greedy. Good luck selling them.
That’s crazy. I bought my house a few years ago for 195,000. No way I’d pay 140,000 for any boat. I can buy a Skeeter rigged the same for 80,000
Whoa… if it bought one I would be single in a heartbeat .. Hmmm, that might be cheaper in the long run.. 🤔
Curious if Ikon will release the number of boats they sell this year. Having a hard time believing many people will buy a 140k boat. Bad for the industry IMO, fishing is becoming a rich man's hobby. If it keeps going the way it is even well off people won't be able to afford to fish.
Almost as nice as a bass cat😉
Wow i thought it would be 10 years before we saw a nearly 150k boat just wow im speechless but there are people who will buy it just because most people cant afford one.
Ummmm, didn’t they brag about the safety being for high school and college anglers!!!!! How many high school anglers can afford $140k boat???!!! Ridiculous!
I think there is a market even if niche for boats like this. I just can't justify spending big $$$ on glass because of how fragile it is. Do they look great yes, but a fishing boat to me is a work boat. They need to be tough, easily worked on, and dead on balls reliable.
Andy you have a Amsoil banner behind you. What are your thoughts on marine products by them? Possible episode?
Too expensive but a beautiful boat! Great video…
I agree this has got to stop. I would be surprised if 5% of your viewers could afford that.
Price of boats is crazy I’m in the market to buy but these companies are losing sales because these prices are just to much. You know it’s bad when I’m considering a nitro because it’s so what affordable.
Agree with you, but, even Nitro has gone crazy.
