Lovely video, thanks molly! Until this year I have felt too busy to read for pleasure, I am a mum to two young children, work full time and have just finished my masters degree. As a treat to myself (as I used to LOVE reading) I decided to buy a book when I finished studying. This was in May, and since then I have devoured 20 books, a mixture of genres, and loved every second!!! My children are now reading more too, as they see me and my husband read! I love your ideas about reading, seasonal reading and fitting it into life! 😊
Love your channel. I would like to offer feedback. In this video you talked so fast I could not keep up. Other than that, Molly you and your videos are absolutely delightful ❤
This video was so so lovely. I used to be a consistent reader, but after university and working full-time I always found reading to be another chore, or a tick off of my to do lists. for 2024 I am making it a goal to get back into reading, and primarily using the library and smaller bookstores (indie/used/ thrift stores) so It's been nice to get some tips to start getting back into the habit.
I love reading and have done so since being a small child. In the last few years I've discovered audiobooks which means that I've been reading even more. My tips are to not stress it. There are times I read more and others when I just don't read as much for a variety of reasons. In my opinion reading should be fun and not a chore. Another tip is to (mostly) read what you want to read and not focusing what is canon / one is supposed to read. I love reading romance so this makes up a very big chunk of my reading even though it might be less valued by some people. Connected to that: It's okay to not finish a book if you don't enjoy (There are some exceptions: like if you need it for an exam).
Yes, it was speedy wasn't it? I didn't know you could slow them down, having done it, it works quite well here, only slightly slurred, like when we used to play the 45 singles on 33 rpm!
Lovely video. Joining Goodreads and setting up challenges really helped motivate me. Making an effort to put down the phone and turn the tv off also allowed me to have extra reading time :) I love to find second hand books at street markets, I often manage to find great ones for super cheap. Books give me so much joy ❤
One of my goals for 2024 is actually to read less. 😅 I really want to slow down and follow my mood more. Read more of what I feel like, rather than what I feel like I should. ❤
Great video! I created a reading basket for myself today made up of books I haven't read yet and a few seasonal ones I want to revisit including The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse. Just enjoying reading Wintering by Katherine May.
You've talked me into setting up reading nooks in my house! Great idea, and I happen to have 2 or 3 unused baskets for just this purpose. Your videos are always inspirational. Thanks! 😊
I love your channel very much and always looking forward to your vlogs but it seemed this time you were talking so fast that I couldn’t really find the comfort of your previous vlogs.❤
I've been tracking my reading on Goodreads for almost ten years. I don't set goals but it's so useful to have a record of what I've read. I read between 110 to 160 books a year so it's easy to lose track. Also I can't encourage everyone enough to support your local library, checking out books and using library services helps keep libraries open. If I had to buy all the books I read I would have no money and no space in my home for anything else! I keep a few favorites, of course, and reference books like field guides and cookbooks.
Hi from Spain.I totally agree..Reading brings US a lot of benefits and you can choose almost everything : book, moments , place.... As a teacher I considere Reading is the most important thing in the process to reach knowledge, experience and travelling abroad with your imagination ... I also read Jojo Moyes😊 Regards
Thank you so much, Molly. I’m so determined to do this, so this really helped. I’m still being so distracted, but not giving up. With the autumn days and Winter approaching, I’m confident that this will really get me in the book groove! 🙏☺️🍁🍂🙏
Lovely video! I've been a bookdragon all my life, and one aim I have is to make bookreaders stop using the word bookworm, its not a fun word and bookdragon really explain us so much better 😅😅❤. My tip is not to plan to much, but if you like me have lots of books you haven't read yet, maybe half plan the month ahead with a mix of books that have been waiting with new exciting reads, together with different genres. If its difficult to come into classics but you want to read classics, maybe read that classic only during lunch if possible and other books in the evening. And dont force yourself ever to read a book you dont enjoy! Reading is fun and relaxing ❤❤
@hippyhighlandliving yay I'm so glad you like it! I actually found s t shirt online with the text "I'm not a bookworm I'm a bookdragon" with q picture of a dragon reading on it 😅😅🥰🥰
I also love books I read as a child and have the copies to now read to my own children. I love reading seasonally as well, every year close to Christmas I read an easy, romantic Christmas book and it’s just so perfect for the time of the year. Also just a side note - your make up looks absolutely gorgeous and really suits you :)
My mother starting reading to me when I was a small child and I could not wait to learn to read! She had read the classics, and brought them home to me from the library. I can't imagine life without reading. I read mostly at night when I go to bed.
I love to 📚 read it can be a novel or a magazine as long as you can read it lm reading it,love were it takes me when l read an been reading for when l was a young girl l have so many books l haven't read yet,Usually others come first or lm tied your video helped me alot,Thanks Molly Enjoy your week 😊❤❤❤❤🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏
I LOVED that you did a video on this topic! I usually do read daily, but I've noticed that it is difficult for me to read if it's not completely quiet. Does anyone else struggle with this? I like to take books with me when I go out, but I have to make sure it's not something that requires deep concentration (like a cookbook) or I can't get into it. My husband suggested getting earbuds and putting on white or brown noise so that I can block out the noise, which I might do actually. Also, THANK YOU for validating the "reading more than one book at a time" idea. I usually have a couple of cookbooks, a spiritual book, a kids' book, and a psychological thriller on the go at any time! : )
I'm so glad you enjoyed! I can read in busier settings but its depends on the book. I actually quite enjoy listening to music when I read sometimes and there are lovely 'reading playlists' on RUclips that may be worth checking out :)
Absolutely lovely jersey you have on!! Ive bought myself a basket to put "to read" books into, and found a lovely old book in a small bookshop (called "wanderlust" ) when I went up to old hometown for RSA Armistice service, had a bit of time between arriving and assembly time
Hi Molly. I've been watching your videos for a while now. For me, a city girl with a full-time job, living in a country where there is not much wild nature, they are very inspiring. Like a litlle holiday on a normal day! Keep up the good work. 🙂
Great video - thanks for sharing. I got back into reading this year as an adult. I used to love it as a child! Finally enjoying it again. Your tips are super useful. I’m hoping to get into Agatha Christie this winter - which story do you think I should start with? Have a lovely week 😊
That's great! I really enjoyed the book I showed in this vid (The Murder of Rodger Ackroyd) and it had a fab twist that I didn't see coming so I would recommend! :)
Molly, I LOVE real books, but I have a meds related tremor and sometimes that doesn't let me hold a book open. I therefore have a kindle but that just isn't the same. I also have audiobooks (try Echo Boy by Matt Haig!!) for times when everything is too hard.
Slightly off-topic, but it made me think of you - I just discovered 'The Thing About Austen' podcast which has been going for a couple of years, so fascinating, and made me want to go back to them all again! Don't know if you do podcasts but I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
Molly so far I have read 11 books this year and I have 6 more books on my list I want to read. Not sure if I will get them all read this year. I'm a slow reader. You have inspired me. So thank you so much 😊💕
Great video! Writing about the books you read is really fun and useful. I started doing that a few years ago and I find that I read much more closely now and that reading my old reviews helps me easily revisit books I've read in the past.
One of my favourite things to do is browse libraries and pick up random books that appeal to me in the moment. Its helped me branch out into different genres I wouldn't normally read. Also loving your idea of a reading basket! I might have to get one. I currently just have various random piles of books around the house 😊 Thanks Molly!
I read seasonally too ♥️ I started Anne of Green Gables today and have Little Women set aside for the festive period, it’s a great way to engage with the world around us!
I LOVE reading, but I have this weird problem where I feel like while I’m reading I’m not “accomplishing” anything? I used to read so much as a child and I never had those thoughts. Have you felt this way? What did you do to defeat those icky thoughts?
I think that this is common and its something I've struggled with on occasion. It helps me to recognise the value of reading in my life and also schedule it in and take it as seriously as any 'work' commitments. I hope that helps :)
@@hippyhighlandliving Update! I’ve read two and a half books since and realized that feeling guilty about reading time is an actually a denial of self-care issue. I’ve realized that reading gives my soul energy and that I have a responsibility to myself to provide this time. 📚💪🥰

I agree about not pursuing a book if you're struggling! Life is too short, move onto the next! 👍
I so agree with you!
Great tips and ideas. Thanks Molly!! 😊
I love your videos but I found the pace almost too quick for me tonight. I must be getting old!!!
Turn playback speed to 75%. Very helpful
Indeed. Felt quick short but still lovely
@@henrysmom1742 Thank you 😊. I will make a cuppa and re-watch!

Totally agree, I love my local library! Plus we've run out of space for books at home, so I mainly buy only the most special ones now
So true, the world would not be the same with libraries :)
Always look forward to your videos. Some super inspirational ideas but could you possibly speak a tad slower? Thanks.
You can change the playback speed so it's slower. I on the other hand always speed up the play back speed LOL
