      Where I live in the US the McDonald’s has no vegan options. We had beyond chicken at KFC for a limited time but they cooked it in the same oil as the chicken. Our Burger King has the impossible whopper which they offer to microwave instead of grill to avoid cross contamination. Our subway here just has falafel or veggie sandwiches. That’s about it.

    • @johnchesterfield9726
      @johnchesterfield9726 2 года назад +17

      Actually as a vegan, I’d say there’s an imperative to support the vegan options at restaurants that primarily profit off slaughtering animals. The reason for that is because by demanding for those cruelty-free products we show these businesses that we want them and will make them money when they have them on their menus. If it is successful for one restaurant that adds a new vegan item on their menu other restaurants will catch on and begin to add vegan option on their menus as well. If the demand for those cruelty-free products don’t make these businesses a lot of money then they won’t continue to make them anymore and they won’t be on their menus, meaning less people will be exposed to the idea that veganism is an option. As vegans we need to normalize veganism and make it more accessible to others, and it really helps when there is the anomalous cruelty-free option in a menu surrounded by products that took blood and violence to obtain. Besides, regular consumers of these fast food chains aren’t vegan so it is the perfect menu to add vegan products to reach more people who aren’t vegan.

    Here in austria McDonald's has no vegan options. (Maybe in vienna they do but not in my city) And subway has even more vegan options like the meatless fajita or the meatless chicken teriyaki!. Burger king is a winner as well, especially with their new (autrian exclusive?) campaign that says "Normal or with meat" on billboards around my city. So Subway and Burger King are definitely the winners where I live.
