I just want you to know your American History music videos have become a staple in my 5th grade classroom! My students absolutely LOVE jamming out to your videos and get so excited when I have a new one to share with them! They'll ask me to replay them to the point where they've memorized your entire song - and have some dance moves to add. Thank you for taking your time to make these educational, hilarious, and fun videos. I truly appreciate them and the excitement they spark for Social Studies :)
Could I have made it through this first year of teaching middle school History without Mr Betts? The answer is a resounding "NO!". Not a week goes by that at least 1-2 songs are included in my lesson plans. My students like to listen to music when we have free time, which means we've been listening to Jamestown Colony - their favorite - since sometime in September...6 months ago. We love you, Mr Betts! Thanks for the awesomeness. :)
You're crazy! I'm not sure how you had the time to make all these or what took me so long to find them but my students and I LOVE these. I use them to wrap up units/ideas. Thanks for all the hard work!
I'm glad you can use them in that way. Hopefully the non-parody videos have helped you directly teach topics as well. That was a big goal of mine this school year.
HOLY CRAP I GOT A RESPONSE! I teach 8th grade US History on a US Air Base in Japan, how about you? My last class just watch this and had a discussion about whether or not I like them bc I'm a history dork or they're really good. They think they're really good, and for me its awesome to tie all the facts into a song or parody. I just stumbled upon these the other day, haven't seen the non parody videos yet but will check them out. My students want to send you a gift, would you PM me? I liked your page on FB.
at the battle of New Orleans Andrew Jackson attacked the British after the war was over (this was the first battle to use trench warfare) people still do debate if Andrew Jackson attacked the British because of hate or if it was communication( which this type was fast it was also invented by Benjamin Franklin) personally I believe it was of hate because even then it did not take 2 weeks for word to get out that the war was over
Okay this video has been posted in 2014 but whatever. I'm a french student at university, and i'm studying to have what we call a "english language and civilisation degree". I have to learn all the history of American, and oh god, there are so muuuuch things to learn. Your videos are really helping me so i wanted to thank you. There short, funny, but very helpful !
This was all so beautiful. The creativity, accuracy, lyrics, singing.... Everything, everything was just so beautiful. c': I enjoyed this much more then the original song.
Here it is the middle of summer and my son comes in the room singing this song from memory and asks if I can find it on youtube so he can show it to me. He listened to it in his history class a couple of months ago. Now if only we could get him to love math through music the way he does history!
One of the two best "Roar" covers in my opinion, aside from the Chinese National Orchestra version. The comedic takes just work in this version. Keep up the good work with your history music MrBettsClass!
Well tactically the Americans did lose the war. The Canadiens and British and Canadian militia were the first to ever raise a foreign flag on the White House
MrBettsClass this was very helpful. the two men in the videos are the same person-right? cuz look at the radiator...it looks all distorted. however, this is very good. i love all ur vids. ur very talented and ur students should be very grateful.
Why doesnt it point out that the British blockade stop slave ships from entering the us and Britain liberated the slaves on land they captured and it doesn't say that they continued to fight after the treaty was signed and that new Orleans was attacked as a mistake after the treaty
+Alexander Wood all valid points. Main reason: there's only so many lines in the original song and this song is supposed to be an introduction to or reinforcing video for the conflict. But yes, an extended cut should definitely these points
+Alexander Wood No prob, glad you like it and I'm actually working on an Andrew Jackson video that will bring up the fact that Jackson fought and won the Battle of New Orleans... after the war was over.
@@MrBettsClass XD Trust me, you did good! Much more impressive considering that you're a guy hitting those notes! I think the slightly awkward sound is just a lack of power that you hadn't gotten yet at the point of this video.
Kim Jong Un I'm going by officially declared wars. The Barbary Wars would pre-date the War of 1812 but so could many "wars" against Native American tribes as well. Great point though and thanks for watching.
my social studies teacher is currently making us listen to this please help me i almost had a panic attack last night my poor mental health can't handle this
I watched his videos in class I love them also it must be hard to sing high I can do it but then my voice cracks and I need water if not then my throat hurts good job and also I love roar so I decided to watch this to see if I know the words and I do
And then the wight house burned burned burned and we're the ones that did it! Lol shout out to you if you know that song Also shout out to all my fellow Canadians!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
this made me pass my test.

That just about summed it up.
I crack up
My teacher showed this to me and said we have to make a parade like this and sing it in front of the class 💀💀
Very creative lol good job
I remember watching dis in school a couple of days ago :p
My teacher assigned this on google classroom........
Me watching this is 2022.....
Amazing my teacher used this song when we were talking about the war 1812
You might as well use that "Quick, sign that treaty!" part for the American Revolution's final years as the war dragged on.
I love to watch this video with my classmates
I watched y’all in class today hehe
I have a HUGE test on this crap but this made it easy to understand and I laughed a lot this was clever ;D XD

+Devra Robertson impossible. Math will never be as fun as history 😊
Our Social Studies teacher let us listen to this on our own time. I'm glad I did. 10/10 :D
One of the two best "Roar" covers in my opinion, aside from the Chinese National Orchestra version. The comedic takes just work in this version. Keep up the good work with your history music MrBettsClass!
🤣My teacher will cry and laugh for hours and it must be really hard to hit them high notes
Well tactically the Americans did lose the war. The Canadiens and British and Canadian militia were the first to ever raise a foreign flag on the White House
+jak koolaid Marathon, not a sprint.
what do you mean Marathon I did not put that in my statement above
+jak koolaid He means they won the battle but not the war.
and like every other war (expect Vietnam) we found a way to win the war
But you lost the war of 1812 and signed a unconditional surrender
This song is straight up fire 🔥🔥🔥
here's a fun fact the French built the first air force which consisted of hydrogen balloons which was disbanded in 1799 by Napoleon
Oh Napoleon.
MrBettsClass My mom has me watch these for homeschooling 5th grade and you're so funny😂😂😂
Jeremiah Stout ,ok,j.
I'm a fellow homeschooler and I'm using these videos to study for a college-level exam (in high school).
Woah... Just Woah.
MrBettsClass this was very helpful. the two men in the videos are the same person-right? cuz look at the radiator...it looks all distorted. however, this is very good. i love all ur vids. ur very talented and ur students should be very grateful.
At 1:38 his voice cracks. Lol
I love you Mr Betts
This amazing 🤩
Getting me though quarantine like
I'm writing a last minute paper and this video was super helpful.
Best teacher ever. Might be cringey, but awesome. :P

+MrBettsClass thank you for replying I understand it can only be so long but very good song in general
+Alexander Wood No prob, glad you like it and I'm actually working on an Andrew Jackson video that will bring up the fact that Jackson fought and won the Battle of New Orleans... after the war was over.
+MrBettsClass very good ill be sure to watch it
Still wondering how you can hit notes that I, a female soprano singer, can't hit. Well done!
If I'm hitting the notes, I'd hate to hear missing
@@MrBettsClass XD Trust me, you did good! Much more impressive considering that you're a guy hitting those notes! I think the slightly awkward sound is just a lack of power that you hadn't gotten yet at the point of this video.
Perfect for the APUSH / Pageant / Chapter 11 The Triumphs and Travails of the Jeffersonian Republic 1800-1812 (Thanks!)
+Mark Chicone wow, you're plowing through!
Got to get there by early May! It is intense and Pageant is 41 chapters!
What about the Barbary Coast War. I thought that was our first war?
Kim Jong Un I'm going by officially declared wars. The Barbary Wars would pre-date the War of 1812 but so could many "wars" against Native American tribes as well. Great point though and thanks for watching.
What's that?
